(Baby girl deserves love ;-;)
It made Emile so happy to see her smiling that wide that he had to take a moment to smile back at her as well.
Lily giggled some as Emile smiled at her, turning back to the book with a happy hum. It did wonders for her, to just have someone showing care for her.
Emile was happy to be the one that provided it for her. He went back to reading, the smile staying on his face.
Lily was still smiling as well, relaxed on Emile's hand. She really was happy, arms around his finger as she looked down.
Emile was pretty relaxed himself, glad the two of them could get some time to actually be at peace.
The two were left alone for the entire day, as Astral had promised. Lily didn't know about the promise, though, thinking that maybe… maybe she could actually stay with Emile. He was really nice, and he seemed to like her! He was one of Astral's friends, right? He'd been talking with the god like Derlik had…
((Poor kiddo ;-;))
Emile still wasn’t sure how to break the news to her that he wouldn’t be able to keep her. He wished he could but…he knew where his priorities needed to be, and that was with keeping Simon safe.
It would be so hard on her when Lily had to let go… she wanted to be happy, she wanted to have someone who'd actually be nice to her and take care of her. She couldn't, though, and she was too young to understand.
But at the very least…he could give her this one day of happiness. He just had to hope it’d be enough to make the pain go away for awhile.
It might be. If Astral did nothing to her, she would be able to have sweet memories to replace the dreams she could never have.
Emile was just hoping Astral would forget about her. Emile did like her after all.
It would be nice, for Emile to be able to protect both Simon and Lily from Astral. He might just forget about her- he had before. Still, one had to prepare for the worst.
And Emile was prepared for the worst. He usually was in situations like this.
The worst was to come, it seemed. Lily hummed some as she looked down at the book, then turned to Emile.
"I… Thank you, for protecting me," she said, voice soft again. She moved to hug Emile's thumb, still smiling some.
Emile smiled, patting the top of her head gently. “I’m doing the best I can dear.”
Lily smiled some at the pat to her head, looking up at Emile again.
"Well, you've been doing really good! I… He's never stopped doing something in the middle like that."
“Well I’m just glad he listened.” He said with a soft smile.
"I am too," Lily agreed. Astral knew how much she had always hated water, and he took every chance he could to use it against the young girl.
Emile felt bad for the young girl, she’d gone through so much. “Have you had a nice time today?”
"Mhm! Thank you so much!" Lily smiled up at Emile. She felt safe around him, if only because she had longed for safety for so long she clung to the first person to show her any.
((mood))
“It was my pleasure, really. I’m glad you had a nice time.” He gently patted the top of her head again.
Lily giggled some at the head pat, leaning against Emile's thumb and closing her eyes a moment. She looked calm, and peaceful. She felt safe, and she didn't want it to end.
Emile was hoping it wouldn’t have to end. But he knew how Astral could be, so it was pretty unlikely.
