Melissa smiled. "Not a lot to be honest. I like to cook and bake but I mainly get to cook more," She said. She stopped typing on her laptop and closed it. She dd most of her work in class and just had to finish something.
Melissa smiled. "Not a lot to be honest. I like to cook and bake but I mainly get to cook more," She said. She stopped typing on her laptop and closed it. She dd most of her work in class and just had to finish something.
"Oh, you bake?" Ciel grinned and leaned towards Melissa a little. "I think I love the idea of baking, but I never really have the time or skills. That's awesome that you can cook, though. I'm pretty sure the only thing I can cook is noodles." She let out a little laugh. "Uh… what kind of music do you listen to?" Ciel was enjoying just talking to Melissa, though she felt like she was talking a little too fast. But she couldn't help it.
"Like that little rat movie, anyone can cook," She joked laughing slightly. "I like musicals but I don't really listen to a lot of music." she relaxed on the chair but almost fully faced Ciel. She put her lptop away. "What about you?"
"Hah, yeah." Ciel laughed, pulling her braid over one shoulder. "Oh, I like musicals too! But I also listen to a lot of instrumentals and soundtracks from movies or TV shows. It helps with concentration and stuff, at least for me." She paused. "So, what's your favorite musical? If you have one, that is."
"Yeah, instrumentals are good too. I like a bunch of musicals but my favorite has to be Wicked but I've been listening to a lot of hades town lately," She said crossing her legs. She leaned on the arm of the chair.
"Oh, I love Wicked! Those songs are so pretty," Ciel gasped. "I haven't listened to it for a while, though. And I don't think I've ever listened to Hades Town. Is it good?" She twisted her braid around her fingers a few times, feeling extremely happy for some reason.
"Yeah, I like it," She said. "It's based on Greek mythology and the songs are really good." She crossed her legs. her phone rang but she didn't touch it.
"Greek mythology? I guess I'll have to listen to it." Ciel reached into her backpack and pulled out a small notebook and a pencil. She quickly opened it and jotted down "listen to Hades Town musical", the closed it and tossed it back into her bag. "Alright, I'm going to listen to it as soon as I can." Ciel glanced at Melissa's phone, wondering why she wasn't answering it. "You can answer that if you want. I don't mind."
Cat glanced at it. "It's just Branden. I'll talk to him later," She said still smiling. Her phone stopped ringing but it pinged a few times from a text. She placed with a loose thread on her sweater. She knew he would get mad but she really didn't want to deal with him.
"Okay." Ciel nodded, feeling a sort of pride at having been chosen over Branden. Then she mentally slapped herself for thinking something like that. "So… you mentioned liking to bake. What's your favorite thing to bake?" Ciel flipped her pencil over and over in her fingers, staring at Melissa with a soft smile on her lips.
She thought for a second. "Banana bread," She said smiling. She looked at Ciel smiling. Her legs folded under her. She brought one of her legs up to her chest.
"Banana bread." Ciel nodded, smiling back at Melissa. "I love banana bread. My mom makes it every once in a while, and it's always a treat. I'd love to try yours sometimes. See who can make it better."
Melissa nodded. "Love to. your mom is probably better. I once got plastic in mine. I have no clue how but I got better," she said. She sat up more. "I actually plan on making some tonight. Maybe I could bring some in for lunch."
"I guess we'll have to see. And… I have no idea how you did that either– maybe one of your utensils broke?" Ciel raised her eyebrows at Melissa, then laughed and shifted slightly in her chair. "At least you got better. And I would absolutely love it if your brought some tomorrow. There's no pressure, though. If you don't have time, that's totally fine."
"It's fine. Lili really likes it so I try to make it every once in awhile," She said. "Plus yeah I think my spoon broke. It turned the whole bread blue." She laughed slightly.
"Aww, that's sweet." Ciel grinned. "Uh… that's not good. I really hope no one tried to eat it before you figured out there was a bunch of plastic in it." She laughed along with Melissa, wondering when was the last time she'd had so much fun in someone's company. It had been a while, that was sure.
“Yeah I cut open it and saw the color before anyone could try,” she said. “So you said you like making jewelry? What kind do you make?” She tilted her head slightly. She never saw much of homemade jewelry besides friendship bracelets.
"Oh, that's good," Ciel sighed in relief. "Oh, well, I mostly just make earrings– I usually have them on, but I forgot today," she gestured at her ears, which were unadorned, "and I also make pendants. Like this one." She pulled a necklace out from under her shirt, unlatched it and held it towards Melissa. The pendant was a small, black stone with a repeating pattern of pink, yellow, and blue seed beads around the outside. Ciel was rather proud of it– it was one of the prettiest pieces she'd ever made, and it had turned out quite good in her opinion.
“This is beautiful,” she said holding the pendant lightly. “How do you make them?” She looked up at Ciel. She knew that lunch was going to be over soon but she wanted to talk to her for as long as possible.
"Thanks." Ciel smiled proudly, her cheeks the slightest bit pinker than normal. It felt good to be complimented by Melissa. "Oh, this one I made with a special backing that had holes around the edges. That way I could attach the beads to it. Then I just attached the stone with some fancy glue." She paused, her eyes wandering from the pendant to Melissa's face. "If… You wanted, I could make something for you. Just as a little thanks for welcoming me so warmly."
Melissa’s smile grew. She handed the pendant back. “That would be amazing! But only if you have time. It sounds like a lot of work,” she said trying to hide some of her excitement.
Ciel accepted the pendant and put the necklace back on. "Oh, I'll have time. You can't do homework every single day of your life, right?" She laughed slightly. "Anyways, what would you want? Earrings or necklace? And what colors?" Ciel leaned forward, already excited to make the piece.
“A necklace would be nice and you can choose,” she said leaning forward slightly as well. She couldn’t wait to see what Ciel would make. The bell rang and she slowly stood up. “Come on the gyms like on the other side of the school.”
"A necklace and a challenge." Ciel grinned. "I'm going to have so much fun with this! Thanks for letting me make you something." She jumped slightly at the bell, disappointed that her time with Marissa was over already. "Oh, I love it when that happens. A class on one side and another on the other. And there's no running in the halls." Ciel gathered up her stuff and stood. "I'm going to try and get you the necklace to you as soon as I can." She waited for Marissa to lead the way, not quite knowing where the gym was yet.
Melissa smiled and took Ciel’s hand again. She led her down the hall. “Luckily the Gym teacher doesn’t care if we’re a little late,” she said. The bell rang while the gym was a few feet away.
