"You good, Sage?" Tolly yelled, fanning at the chicken with a potholder to cool it down. "You're looking awfully red from in here."
"You good, Sage?" Tolly yelled, fanning at the chicken with a potholder to cool it down. "You're looking awfully red from in here."
She flipped him off, glaring playfully.
Tolly stuck out his tongue and blew her a raspberry. "Dinner's ready if you're not too busy freaking out to eat."
She rolled her eyes, walking over.
"I didn't know what you'd like, so I just made fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Is that okay?" Tolly asked as he loaded food onto his plate and sat down at the table.
"Of course!" She said, smiling.
"Great!" Tolly cheered. "I was kinda worried because I don't have your number so I couldn't ask what you wanted to eat."
"Want me to give it to you after dinner?" She asked, sitting down.
"That would be great!" Tolly dug into his food for a few seconds before he realized he needed to talk. "Thanks for coming over, by the way! It's nice to have someone over, I haven't entertained in forever."
Sage smiled softly, swallowing her own bite of food. "It's no problem! I haven't been out in forever!"
"So I heard," Tolly responded dryly. "Maybe I should introduce you to a few of my friends. Kickstart that lackluster social life of yours."
Sage shook her head. "No, I'll just be annoying and make things awkward."
"Sage, you're a lying liar who lies. My friends'll love you! And you're definitely not the most trying person they'll deal with because I'm friends with El and she's the worst"
She smiled. "Sure, Tolly."
Tolly reached across the table to take her hand. "Flowergirl, I'm not messing with you. I genuinely think a couple of my friends would like you. And Fey's been on my case about introducing you to the group."
"…Fine, I'll go." She relented.
"You're the best, Sage!" He cheered, dropping a kiss onto the hand he was holding and turning back to his food. "When works for you? Like, when are you willing to meet up?"
Sage blushed, smiling. "I'm free Saturday."
Tolly grinned at her, practically lighting up with happiness. "Perfect! Fey and Flora are free this weekend and they're who I really want you to meet."
"Okay…" She said, nodding along.
"Do you wanna know anything about them before you get shoved into the fray?" Tolly asked, finishing his chicken. "I have so much shit on both of them and I'm fully prepared to spill some tea to you."
"Yes please!" She said, smiling.
Tolly laughed at her eagerness. "You have to ask me stuff so I can answer it, Flowergirl. What do you want to know?"
"…About how crazy can they get?"
"Well Flora's pretty peaceful until Sequoia shows up and then things get wild because she's a total enabler, and Fey seems pretty normal but deep in her heart of hearts, she's a monster. Two weeks ago she ate 5 leaves off her lemon tree and then went on a 3 hour tangent about the Russian Pendulum Theory."
