"Can't you just change your code? People will notice that on Horath, and that would be bad for both of us." She sat down in her chair again and watched space go by while waiting for her food to cool enough to eat.
"Can't you just change your code? People will notice that on Horath, and that would be bad for both of us." She sat down in her chair again and watched space go by while waiting for her food to cool enough to eat.
"I will add that to my code, yes. I have been working on adding things." He replied, sitting down and looking out the window.
Thesa nodded, glancing over at him for a moment, "It's crazy to think that you can almost modify yourself at any time just by messing with a line of code. It must be useful though." Her food had cooled down a bit and she deemed it cool enough to eat, digging in quietly as her focus moved back out the front window.
Zev shrugged. "I can only modify behaviors, and there are certain pieces of my coding that i am not allowed to mess with." He replied calmly. "But yes, it can be useful. It is how i compensate for the issues my left wrist has."
"So in theory, you could modify your behavior to mimic a humans? Make yourself copy our nervous energy and blend in even more?" She was genuinely interested as to what he could change and do to his code, as well as how he had managed to find how to deal with the issues with his wrist.
"In theory, yes. In practice…I have tried. It is very difficult to replicate how the human mind works, especially as i am not human and do not have the same thought patterns." He replied.
Thesa nodded, resting back in her chair, "The human mind is a scary and confusing place, it's not easy to replicate, I'll agree there."
He chuckled softly, and nodded. "Yeah, i see how that goes." He replied. "Although i have been trying to code so I can understand humans better."
"What have you been trying to understand about us?" She asked, deciding she could be of some help while still eating and watching to make sure they didn't run into anything before reaching the planet.
"Everything." He replied, shaking his head. "Humans are unpredictable. They are…ruled by emotions, which makes their movements difficult to predict. Even the best computer can be predicted if you know how machine logic works. But humans?" He shook his head.
Thesa nodded and shrugged, "That's pretty true, I mean, we are ruled completely by our emotions..even if we don't want to be." She finished eating and looked over at him again, "Sometimes it's a good thing though, for one, we can prepare sneak attacks that androids wouldn't have thought of because of these emotions."
He nodded. "Yes, I can see how that would be…useful. But still. It is hard to program…that sort of thing into myself. Especially as i do not know quite how it works."
"I don't doubt it would be difficult, most of the time we can't even predict what we're going to do," She admitted with a tiny smile, "Well, at least I can't, my mind and my body seem to do completely their own thing."
He gave a soft chuckle at that. "Yes, i can see that." He shook his head a little. "But in any case, i am still working on programming more humanlike behaviors into myself."
She nodded, stretching out and glancing over at the fuel level just to make sure they were still good, "Those will help a ton on Horath, the less people that know you're a robot the better. Maybe you could take note of some of my behaviors? If it would help."
He nodded. "I already have, along with some of Alexi's, and the human crew of the Daedalus, as I remember them." he replied with a smile.
"Wow, stalker," She replied, snorting a laugh, "Now you have to tell me though, what are some of the things I do a lot?" Thesa's eyes drifted back out the window and she tried to guess just how many hours it would take to get to the planet, though no exact or guessed number came to mind.
"Breathe." He deadpanned. "I counted 120,475 breaths during your standard seven hour rest time, and compared it to Alexi, who only slept for five hours, and took only 125,312 breaths."
(Can you list things she does a lot?)
(Well, he could go really generic and say blink XD but otherwise, tinker with things, read, sleep, sit in her chair, bounce her leg, things like that)
Thesa rolled her eyes and shrugged, "What can I say, breathing is important to me, along with sleep."
(Also sry it's short, I'm at school)
(lol. Alright thanks)
"You also read for at least two hours every day, bounce your leg up and down for no reason i can discern, and tinker with things. Like most humans, you blink and sleep and est quite a lot, as well as other things necessary to bodily function." He said. He frowned thoughtfully. "Do i need to pretend to need to use the bathroom?"
(Oof it's fine!)
She laughed and shook her head, "I don't think you'll have to, that's pretty easy to fake with just saying you already went." With an amused look on her face, she glanced at him, "The only reason I bounce my leg is to give me something to do and to use up my restless energy."
He gave a sharp nod. "I see." He replied. He tipped his head. "But…that does not make sense. If you need something to do, aren't there other things?"
"Yeah..I suppose, but there's not enough things to do this ship, so my energy just goes out in little ways while my body keeps itself moving." She shrugged, flipping sideways on her chair and laying her legs over one of the arms rests and her head on the other, "I don't really know."
He nodded slowly. "Hm. It doesn't quite make sense to me that humans have excess energy. Rather, i dont think i quite comprehend, as i never have too much energy."
Thesa shrugged, looking over at him, "Our bodies evolved to be active constantly, and when we aren't, the extra energy has to be used up in some way."
