Thesa listened to his words carefully and nodded once again, even smiling, "That's a lot better, you'll pass for a human easily on Horath, we just have to work on your voice a little more and getting more variety in your tone."
Thesa listened to his words carefully and nodded once again, even smiling, "That's a lot better, you'll pass for a human easily on Horath, we just have to work on your voice a little more and getting more variety in your tone."
He nodded, and worked on the programming for a moment. "More like this?" He asked, his voice sounding almost perfectly human.
"Yeah, that's…that's almost spot on," She replied, nodding quickly after listening to his new changes in his voice.
He nodded again. "Alright. That makes sense, I guess." He replied, trying to use less precise wording. More humanlike. Or at least, as much as he could.
Thesa smiled, "Now we just wait to get to Horath, and in the mean time I'll be cleaning and repairing my ship. You can do whatever, I'm not going to force you to do anything." She went back to cleaning, knowing they had hours left until they even got close to the planet.
Zev nodded. "Do you want any help?" he asked, looking at her. "Because I don't really have anything else to do." he shrugged slightly.
"If you are offering to help, yeah, it would be nice," She said, looking over at him, "Do you have any desire at all to replace lights? Some of the bulbs have went out. There are new ones in my storage room."
He shrugged, then nodded. "I can replace lights, yes." He went to the storage room and grabbed a few light bulbs, then began to work on replacing the ones that no longer worked.
"Thank you," She called out after him, cleaning her floors and sweeping them with a small brush that hid away in a corner until needed. The only thing that she wanted now was to play music, though she had a limited selection and really didn't know if Zev would like the music.
Zev nodded. "You're welcome." He kept working, quiet. The programming was still making his chest rise and fall as he "breathed", looking more human as he worked than he ever had.
Every so often, she looked over at him, still amazed at how human he seemed even with just the breathing added. He could easily pass as a human now on Horath, which would help immensely.
Zev continued working. The only thing that could maybe give him away was the way he worked. Steadily, carefully, mechanically. The way any android would.
"So, Zev, what are you going to do once we meet Alexi?" She asked as she finished cleaning the room and wandered out to the cockpit to start working there.
Zev paused for a moment, then continued. "I have no idea." he replied slowly. "I really don't. It depends on what he wants, I suppose."
Thesa nodded, checking dials and controls before picking up scraps from when they repaired the controls, "Do you think he'll remember you? It's been thirty years and his memory isn't as sharp as it was before."
"He remembers me." Zev replied. "I have been messaging him, remember? And I was his…his life's work, I believe he called me." He blinked, then shrugged.
"I sort of forgot, but yeah that makes sense," She replied, shrugging, "The real question is, are you going to be able to pick out who he is? You only remember him young."
He nodded, then thought for a moment. "I have seen images of how he looks now. Also, i would be able to recognize him by his bone structure, fingerprints, and irises, if nothing else." He replied.
Thesa nodded, slightly curious, "Can you recognize me from those things if I was in disguise? That's a cool power."
Zev nodded. "I could. And yes, it is. That is also why police androids are so good at catching people; they aren't looking for what human police look for, they look for bone structure and such."
"Which makes my life much harder," She said, only half joking as she cracked a tiny smile. There were several times she had run ins with android police in the past, and their ability to track faces had almost gotten her in trouble a few times.
He raised an eyebrow. "Why, do you often get in trouble with the police?" He asked, moving to work on the next lightbulb. He still worked the same way an android did; even, careful. Mechanical.
She shook her head, "Nah, not me anymore, but I used to, when I was getting parts for my ship." her work continued even as she talked, giving her something to do.
He nodded slowly. "Oh. I see." He replied, thinking. He filed the information away, and continued to work.
(Hey, just a heads up that I won't be on much for the next five days because I'm going to visit my cousin for her bday)
(Sounds good, I'll be swamped with school, sports and homecoming so I'll be not on much too XD)
