“So…you’re going to eat it then?” Nick asked, grabbing the jar and holding it out for Cas.
“So…you’re going to eat it then?” Nick asked, grabbing the jar and holding it out for Cas.
"I… uh… I guess?" Cas tentatively took the jar, ice immediately climbing up the glass. "How?"
“Put it in your mouth and chew, stupid,” Leo snapped with an eye roll. “I don’t know how else you would eat food.”
"Well, it's almost liquid! I dunno how I'm supposed to get it out of the jar…" Cas huffed a bit.
“I can get it out and hand it to you?” Nick suggested, getting some more out of the jar.
"I guess?" I'm still not super clear on how to eat the damn thing…
Nick held out some of it to Cas, while the pirates watched. Nick was still very anxious, though one or two of the pirates seemed almost bored now.
Cas tentatively put some of it into his mouth and shuddered. "Ah!" He started shaking violently and gripped the mast to try and keep himself up, but he soon collapsed.
Nick rushed over to him, turning back to Leo accusingly. “What did you do?”
“Believe it or not, I was actually trying to help this time!” he responded sullenly.
Despite Cas's averse reaction to the poultice, he felt less cold than before, though his shaking didn't slow much.
“Cas? Cas?” Nick asked, looking at the boy frantically. “Is everything okay?”
Cas whimpered quietly, tensing up as he shook. A burst of ice suddenly exploded from him, and when the cloud cleared, he was limp and still.
Nick trembled, sitting next to Cas nervously and checking his pulse. Nick had narrowly avoided a bad scrape with the ice, but was able to dodge the worst of it and melt some off before getting closer. Of course, that didn’t matter if something had happened to Cas.
Cas was definitely alive, as his heart was racing. He seemed to at least be relatively stable despite the ice, but he wasn't feeling fantastic. His temperature was improving, though.
Nick sighed with relief upon realizing that Cas was alive. “Cas? Cas, wake up,” he whispered, tapping him gently on the shoulder.
"Mmmm…" Cas groaned. He stirred, but didn't wake yet.
“Cas,” Nick repeated softly, hoping Cas would wake up. Please wake up, please wake up…
Cas opened his eyes a bit, his vision unfocused and blurry. "Mm…?"
“You’re awake!” Nick cried with relief, throwing his arms around Cas. “How do you feel?”
He shrugged tiredly. "Completely drained… but better, I guess…"
Nick let out a breath he hadn’t realized that he was holding. “That’s good,” he said hopefully, still holding Cas.
"Mhmm…" Cas looked around, taking in their surroundings. "What're we doing on the deck?"
“What’s the last thing you remember?” Nick asked, his eyes widening. He held onto Cas like he never wanted to let go, not caring about the pirates watching them.
"Um…" Cas thought back, his eyes flicking back and forth a bit as he considered. "We were… in… the cell? And he was in there?" He gestured to Leo.
“You don’t remember how crazy your powers were just a few minutes ago? They were out of control,” Nick muttered, looking at Cas.
