Leo groaned softly, putting his head in his hands before resting it against Elijah’s chest, “No. we don’t have public executions. Executions aren’t even legal nowadays.” He mumbled.
Leo groaned softly, putting his head in his hands before resting it against Elijah’s chest, “No. we don’t have public executions. Executions aren’t even legal nowadays.” He mumbled.
"And why not? Does your king not remind the people of his power? Executions always do the trick." Elijah stroked his hair.
Leo relaxed slightly when he stroked his hair, “We don’t have a king. We have a president, but no king.”
"What is this president? Is he not like a king? Doesn't he still need to remind them of his power? Execute enemues in front of the people and they won't cross you." Elijah said.
“Everyone just… knows he runs the country so nobody crosses him,” Leo shrugged, “Exectutions aren’t acceptable these days.”
"That seems very boring. I loved watching executions, especially when they did me wrong." Elijah said with a nod.
“People just go to prison now,” Leo muttered. He relaxed his body, removing his hands from his face, “I… I couldn’t stomach watching an execution.”
Elijah rubbed his sides soothing. "Well I suppose you donf have to worry about that since you dont have any. Though they aren't so bad, unless its a hanging and their necks don't snap. Then its just long."
Leo shivered at the thought, swallowing, “That’s just… barbaric. I’m sorry but it is, why would you want to watch that?”
"Because they deserved it. They raped, assassinated or attempted to at least. They deserved it." Elijah carressed his back.
“People do those things now but we don’t kill them for it,” Leo replied, relaxing under his touch, “Those just go to prison for a while.”
"For a while? That is not justice. They deserve to die for those crimes." Elijah frowned. Was there no justice.
?
Leo nodded a little, “I know, but we don’t have the dearth penalty so we can’t kill them. some get life in prison, other just a very long time…”
"I think yoir 'president' needs to rethink how he gives punishment." Elijah spoke. He turned to the movie. "Why are they frozen?"
Leo looked up and turned his head slightly to look to at the movie then back to Elijah, “I pressed pause.”
"What? Why? How?" Elijah blinked rapidly. "I dont understand this, its making my head hurt." He moaned and lowered his head to Leo's shoulder.
Leo wrapped his arms around Elijah’s neck, pressing himself flush against him, “I know it’s confusing, and we’ll take it slow, I promise.”
Elijah snuggeled into him. "I dont think I'm ever going to get it." His voice was muffled by hos shoulder.
Leo hummed a little, resting his own head against Elijah, “It’ll take a while… but you will, I know you will.”
Elijah doubted that. "No I won't I never will. There are too many changes."
“Elijah, it takes time to learn about new things. Hell, I know nothing about forensic science but now I’m top of my class! It just takes time, and some help.”
"Its not the same. My home is nothing like this this. You dont even use candles or fires for light. I dont know what you use." Elijah's shoulders slumped.
Leo gently moved Elijah’s head so he could see his face, cupping it with both hands, “Change is inevitable. All you’ve got to do is keep your head high, accept it and move on,” He let go of his face with one hand to grab Elijah’s, “I’m going to help you, doesn’t matter how long it takes but I will.”
"Not this much change. I hate it. I like how sinple my life was. I want it back." Elijah said. He closed his eyes and leaned into his hands.
“I know,” Leo rested his forehead against his, “But it’s impossible. If there was a way and a possibility I’d send you back in a heartbeat so you don’t have to deal with all this.”
