"Triggers? What do you mean?" Nathaniel looked up at Ilya, startling slightly at the sudden cracking of the bacon again.
"Triggers? What do you mean?" Nathaniel looked up at Ilya, startling slightly at the sudden cracking of the bacon again.
"Like… that!" Ilya mimicked a flinch, setting down his strip of bacon. "Things that make you flinch or feel bad for no reason or remember bad experiences. Stuff like loud noises or being touched without permission."
"Oh… um… I guess cracking noises startle me sometimes because it reminds me of my wings, things coming up behind me or other people, people making sacrifices of almost any type for my sake… the last one I just feel really bad."
Ilya nodded, smiling softly at him. "Thank you for confiding in me. Um… with the last one, do little things make you feel bad too? Like, if I offered to buy you something, would that make you uncomfortable?"
"A little bit, but I guess I'd get over it… I just feel bad for people having to expend resources for me. Another thing, I don't think I like being picked up without permission because it makes me feel short and weak… obviously if I'm asleep, there's an exception." Nathaniel tried the eggs.
"Okay, I'll definitely keep that in mind." Ilya pulled the plate of pancakes up to Nathaniel. "And, I was wondering if I could buy you some clothes. Your shirt's pretty wrecked and your pants aren't much better."
"Oh, um… s-sure, I guess. If you want…" Nathaniel tentatively took a bite of the pancakes. "I like these ones… uh… whatever they are."
"Good choice!" Ilya flicked his wrist, sending the plate of bacon and eggs back into the kitchen. "Those are pancakes. I can put stuff like blueberries and chocolate chips in them if you want."
"I… I think they're good plain, although I do have a tendency to eat plain things." He picked up the pancake and bit into it.
"If that's what you like, I won't change it." Ilya made a mental note to add pancake mix to the fridge. "Oh! What size are you in clothes?"
Nathaniel shrugged. "A small size, probably. From comparison, I seem to be around the size of young teenage humans. I'm 5'4, if that helps? Giving you my weight wouldn't be beneficial, as my bones are hollow and I weigh far less than humans."
"Adult small then. Maybe an extra small." Ilya pulled away, assessing Nathaniel from an arm's length before nodding. "Is there anything in particular you want?"
"I know nothing about clothes, so… whatever you think is best is probably fine."
(Tfw you want Ilya to misjudge on purpose so Nathaniel has adorably big clothes)
(consider it done. also, I gtg. I'll be back around 9:30)
"Oh, I meant are there any kinds of clothes that you want. Like sweaters or overalls or something." Ilya pulled Nathaniel back into his side.
(Oof alright)
"Again, I have no clue and I'm not particularly picky… as long as it's comfortable and doesn't restrict my wings too much, it should be fine." Nathaniel winced a bit when Ilya grabbed him, but soon relaxed.
(got back a little earlier than I thought)
Ilya relaxed his grip quickly, a small frown gracing his face. "I'm sorry, was that too rough?"
"N-No, it's okay now… it just hurt a bit when I moved over." Nathaniel lay his head on Ilya's shoulder smiling reassuringly.
Ilya's frown dissipated a bit and he slowly started to run his hand through Nathaniel's hair. "If you say so. Let me know next time I hurt you, okay?"
Nathaniel nodded, flexing his wings a bit. He did this every once in a while to make sure they didn't get too stiff.
"But anyways, we were talking about clothes! I'll make sure everything fits your wings; I used to go to a guy who specialized in fairy clothes and I'm sure he can modify a couple of designs to fit yours."
"Alrighty… with my other clothes I just either cut holes in the back or let them stay under the clothes, but I'm sure there's a better way. Should I go in with you?"
"Only if you want to," Ilya reassured. "I can just get some measurements and then go into his shop on my own."
"I mean, I might as well come with… just let him know I'm a little fragile right now." Nathaniel yawned and winced as the deep breath hurt his ribs.
Ilya smiled brightly, frowning sympathetically as Nathaniel winced. "I will! He'll mostly be focusing on your wings anyways, so you don't need to worry about your ribs being messed with. Um… you should probably put on one of my old shirts before we go."
Nathaniel nodded. "You can pick something if you want…" He looked down at the bandages around his chest, which had a few spots of blood.
