"I can tell, you're dead on your feet." Ilya wrapped Nathaniel's hands around his neck, grabbing his thighs to lift him up. "Let's head back to bed."
"I can tell, you're dead on your feet." Ilya wrapped Nathaniel's hands around his neck, grabbing his thighs to lift him up. "Let's head back to bed."
Nathaniel quickly fell asleep in Ilya's arms, his head laying on the other's shoulder. The tips of his wings dragged on the floor a bit.
Ilya smiled fondly, holding Nathaniel a little higher to keep his wings from dragging. He tucked the boy back into bed, refilling the water glass with a flick of his wrist. He changed into cleaner clothes and then settled into bed beside him.
Nathaniel huddled close to Ilya in his sleep, able to sleep through the rest of the night with the pain medication in his system.
Ilya draped an arm across his waist, settling in for a trance- the closest thing fairies got to sleep. Normally he would get up and do housework, but it was clear that would only disturb Nathaniel.
Nathaniel awoke in Ilya's arms in the morning and held a little tighter to the fairy. "Morning…"
(What time is it for you btw? It's 2:20 a.m. for me)
Ilya blinked blankly for a couple seconds before he shook and seemed to come back to himself. "Good morning, Beautiful. How do you feel?"
(It's 1:25)
"Sore and tired… you?" Nathaniel yawned.
(Cool cool. I'm sleeping now; night!)
(Night :)
Ilya stretched, scratching the back of his neck. "Comfortable and content. Want me to pass you the painkillers?"
Nathaniel nodded and took a few more pills, coughing quietly.
Ilya rubbed his back as he coughed, kissing his forehead with a soft smile. "Is there anything you want to get done today?"
"I dunno… I've heard resting is good for broken bones. In addition to staying hydrated and eating…" He stayed close to Ilya for warmth.
Ilya laughed softly, slinging an arm across his shoulders to hold him close. "Then we'll do that! What do you want for breakfast?"
"Anything is fine… I didn't eat much up in heaven or when I was alone, so I'm not very experienced."
Ilya frowned at that, snapping his fingers lazily at the doorframe. A few seconds later a plate of eggs and bacon came whizzing in, followed by a stack of pancakes and some forks. They hovered at the foot of the bed, bobbing gently up and down. "Well you'll be eating three full meals while you're here, and we'll figure out what you like along the way."
"Er… alright…" Nathaniel moved a bit closer to Ilya when the food suddenly flew in, seemingly startled. His eyes followed the plates' motion as they bobbed in the air.
"It's just a bit of animation magic," Ilya said, pulling the plate of pancakes and a fork forward with a wave of his hand. He offered the fork to Nathaniel. "It won't hurt you."
"It's… it's safe to eat? Are you eating too?" Nathaniel glanced between the plates and Ilya, still seeming a bit nervous about the plates floating.
"It's very safe. I can eat some first if that would make you feel better." Ilya picked up a strip of bacon and ate it, taking a bite of egg and pancake to prove they were safe too. "See? Nothing to worry about."
Nathaniel hesitantly picked up a piece of bacon and leaned back against Ilya, nibbling at it absently.
Ilya smiled brightly, not touching the food now that Nathaniel was eating. "Tell me if you eat something you like so I can keep it in stock."
Nathaniel nodded and put more of the bacon in his mouth. "This one is good I think…" He mumbled, flinching ever so slightly at the sound of the bacon breaking.
"I'll keep it in the house then." Ilya took another strip of bacon, munching on it happily. "Oh, I've been meaning to ask! Do you have any triggers I should watch out for?"
