Nathaniel ran his fingers through her hair. He liked how soft Ember’s hair was. “I’m just… they’re doing things that I have not authorized.” He hissed. “But I’ll see what the outcome is later, let’s go eat something, sweetheart.” He started to guide her towards the private dining hall. “I’m alright— just a little irritated. Everything is fine.”
Ember sighed and held him tight kissing him on the cheek "okay fine if it'll calm you down well go eat something."
Nathaniel hung his head low, closing his eyes for a brief moment. “Yes, it will calm me down.” He led her into the private dinning room. It still had its classic upholstery and red designs. He sat down in his chair at the head of the table, putting his head in his arms.
Ember nodded and took his hand following him to the dining room, she sat down beside him and gave him a concerned look"dear..are you alright?"
Nathaniel looked up, placing his head on Ember's shoulder. "Yes, I am alright. Just a bit sleepy." He yawned, picking his head up, and looking down at his food. He stabbed some food with his fork and put it in his mouth. "I kinda wish I could have slept in. I mean, I could have, but someone had to direct those idiots."
Ember nodded and picked at the food on her plate "how long do you think it takes to find out if your pregnant?" She sat quietly before taking a sip if her water
Nathaniel wasn’t expecting that question. He started to choke on his food, surprised she asked that. He coughed it up quickly, shaking his head. “Sorry, I just wasn’t expecting that question… Uhh.. I don’t know, I think it’s about a week or two.” He took a swig of a red viscous liquid, soothing throat after slightly choking.
Ember looked at him a little surprised " A-are you alright? I'm sorry I just…I was just curious that's all." She looked down at her plate and are a little not saying much
Nathaniel cleared his throat. "I'm alright, dear, nothing to be sorry about. I just wasn't prepared to receive that question. That's all." He studied her behavior, noticing how quiet and distance she was. "Are you alright, darling? Is there something you want to tell me?" He leaned over to kiss her upon the forehead.
Okay if you say so. I'm just thinking, what if I can't get pregnant or if I can and I end up miscarrying." She leaned into the kiss closing her eyes briefly
Nathaniel stroked her head, moving Ember into his lap. "And if that happens, everything will be okay. It wouldn't be your fault. We could always adopt if you wish." He took another bite of his food. "It would never be your fault." He laid his head on top of her head, wrapping his arms around her waist. "Don't worry, Ember."
She nuzzled into him sighing softly " I just can't help but worry about it, it's scary Nathaniel.."
Nathaniel pulled her closer to him. “Everything will okay, sweetie. I promise you. I’ll take care of you.” He lifted his head up, eyeing the plate of barley eaten food. “You need to eat more. It’ll give you strength, my dear.”
Ember buried her head in the crook if his neck and smiled softly "what did I do to deserve a husband as loving as you?" She followed her gaze and looked at her plate " I've had my fill dear.."
Nathaniel rubbed her back. “You simply followed me home when I warned you not too. Talk about a major choice. That led to our union.” He giggled. He frowned. “If you say so, but I still think you need to eat more. Come one.” He removed Ember from his lap, getting up himself. “Let’s do something while my demons set up our party.”
Ember laughed a little herself"yeah I suppose your right about that I'm quite stubborn." She sighed and shook her head "I've never eaten a full meal before so really I'm fine dear." She stood up with him and brushed her clothes off "okay… What would you like to do dear?"
Nathaniel led Ember out of the dining hall, shaking his head. "You can be at times, yes, but it makes you special in someways." He glared at the scene before them. Tables scattered, party decorations in disarray, multiple mishaps. "Eating will make you strong, and you need to be strong for the next chapter of our life." He spoke in a way like he knew more than her. Nathaniel took Ember further down the eastern hall, the hall she visited when that went to the war room. "Ember, we're going to look for some interesting things in the storage/spoils room. It is where we store things we take of people we kill, but all items that have not been used in a long while." He ushered her into a library. It's a giant library with thousands of books. In the center of the room, there are couches and a coffee tables. It's calm, but slightly eerie. He pulls on a book located on one of the shelves and a secret room opens up. There are piles of object stored in this room. "Go ahead, dear."
Ember smiled a little " oh? How does it make me special dear?" She walked alongside him her arms wrapped around his arm as she looked around the palace her jaw dropping as soon as they made it to the library " oh my God…. Nathaniel this is amazing! How many books are in here??"
Ember roamed around the room letting her fingers trail against the spines of the books on the shelves"go ahead and what dear?"
“Because it sets you apart from other stubborn people. Your stubbornness led you to me.” Nathaniel giggled, placing a hand on Ember’s. He was glad that she found some surprise in the library. It was the biggest library in the palace. It held many personal diaries, fairy tails, and guides. “Ohh, about 10,000 or more. There’s a lot.” He unwrapped Ember’s arms from around his, letting her explore the bookshelves while he opened the secret door to the spoils and storage room. “Step inside.” Nathaniel stood by the open door, waiting for Ember to notice.
She smiled a little and patted his arm "if I'm allowed…I'm spending all of my time in here." She looked around a little before she glanced over at Nathaniel with a little smirk "what's this?" She walked over to him and stepped inside" holy shit… What is all of this stuff??"
Nathaniel leaned his head to the side, gazing upon the large library. “You can spend as much time in here as you want, just be mindful of the books. Their condition varies.” He tore away from her to open the door and looked to Ember, nodding his head for her to step inside. Once she did, he followed, forgetting how unkempt this place was. “This.” He paused eye the pedestals with knives and crows on display. “Is all the spoils we take off of humans.” He gestured to the left of the room. “Where we store things not in used like things for the princes and princesses.” He gestured to the right. “And important pieces that are to be kept concealed in glass until used.” He gestures to the middled of the room. He waled over to the few crowns locked away in glass. “These are the crowns used for the princes and princesses. There are a few copies of each incase a couple has more than on child of the same gender.”
She glanced around the room looking absolutely amazed "wait who all have you killed to get this stuff…and why are you showing it to me?" She chuckled a little bit looking around careful not to touch anything she didn't want to break something important
Nathaniel laughed looking around. “Ember, I haven’t kill that many people. This collection spans over thousands of years made by many of those who came before me. Plus, all the human tangibles are on the right. From the middle on are important to us demons only. Forged and handcrafted by generations of demons.. the last time the majority of it was used was when my grandparents were taking of my dad.” He paused. “The last prince to live in hell and the first king to sire a half human-half demon child.” He shook his head, gesturing to the organized demonic stuff. “I though you might like to look around in there. You never know what you my find.”
"Well I wasn't specifically talking about you, guilty conscience." She smiled looking at all the different items in the room shed never seen anything like them before it "wait half demon half human? I didn't even think that was possible wouldn't it kill the mother to give birth?"
Nathaniel shook his head and sighed. “Maybe like 150. I don’t count how many I kill.” He let Ember wonder around while he took the prince and princesses crown off of their pedestals. “No, my mother is not dead. They present human at birth, developing their demonic side at 5. The mother lives with the suffering knowledge that her child is damned…because as soon as they’re murdered, the child is revived as a demon.” He paused, staring off into the distance. “I was once and half human prince of hell, but I was murdered by an Angel long ago, and was reborn as the demon I was supposed to be.”
