"Well I suppose we could try that.. As long as there's no killing of innocents.. " ember went quiet for a moment after saying that before burying her face in his chest now
Nathaniel played with her hair, taking in her sweet scent. “What’s wrong dear?” He inquired, holding her face in his hand. “You’re not acting yourself and it’s concerning me.” He felt the back of his hand to her forehead. “You don’t have a fever. You feel okay, but I’m not sure.”
Ember didn't look at him instead the floor " Nathaniel… Three days before you found me i-… I killed a little girl in the market she couldn't have been more than five years old and I just… killed her "
Nathaniel knelt down and hugged Ember. “I have one question for you Ember. We’re you in control of yourself? Of your body? Or you mind?” He brushed a thumb across her cheek. “Accidents happen, Ember. You told me you had no control before you found your mate— and those are the unfortunate consequences. I don’t think you would murder a child out of malice.”
"I didn't know how to control it that was the first time I had been around a human that wasn't a hunter and her scent….. I couldn't stop myself it was an accident I never meant for it to happen. " her voice broke and she clung to Nathaniel Golden tears rolling down her cheeks as she did
Nathaniel wiped the tears away, kissing her cheek. “I know it was an accident, sweetheart. The important thing is that it wasn’t in malice. If it was.. there are certain consequences.” He sat on his knees, hugging Ember and situation her legs around his hips. “There won’t be any punishment for your deed. You weren’t in control. There is no grey area— and I wouldn’t love you less.” He paused. “Why tell me this?”
She only club g to him tighter her amber eyes looking up a him carefully "I'm… I'm scared to have children… And something happen to them if someone hurts them like I did that girl.. My karma"
Nathaniel hugged her tighter. “Ember, no one, in a million years would be able to hurt our kids. Not with me as a father. Even if they tried to— they’d be dead before anything happened.” He rubbed her back. “And you wouldn’t hurt them either. You’re under control and so am I. We’re both stable.” He leaned his head against hers.
Ember sighs shakily.
"I just. . . I don't want anything to happen to our kids, Nathaniel."
She tightens her grip on Nathaniel. While she sobs quietly
Nathaniel kissed her. "Nothing will happen to our kids, Ember. This place is secure. I promise you." He moved hair out of her face. "And plus, I would childproof it anyway!" Patting her on the back, he stands up, twirling them around. "And plus, many of my demons tend to love the children of the royals."
Ember calmed a bit and looked up at Nathaniel "I know.. I'm sorry, dear I just can't stop worrying about what might happen to them if I slip up. "
Nathaniel smiled at Ember lovingly, setting her down on the ground once more. "Do not fear, my love. You will not slip up. Plus, I have keen eyes and guard my loved ones closely." He wiped the straggler tears away. "Now, why don't we go have some fun, dear! Maybe we can take a stab at those stubborn books again."
Ember smiled softly as he spoke to her she leanex up and kissed him softly "I love you so much dear. " she smiled softly and nodded "sure I don't see why not. "
Nathaniel accepted the kiss. "I love you more." He took Ember's hand and lead her through the usual route. Halfway across the grand hall, up the right grand staircase, and down the right hall. He turned the doorknob to his study, opening the door and accessing the mess. "My bookshelf is still broken, there are books falling to the ground, and a pill has accumulated on my desk." He frowned. "Someone has been in here." He moved into the room, upset by the mess.
Ember followed beside him willingly a small smile still on her face and she walked with her king once they made it to the study her faded and a look of concern took its place "wait what do you mean someone was in here, who? "
Nathaniel shook his head. “It could have just been a maid. Sometimes they enter where should not go— like Lilith.” He trudged over to his desk. “It doesn’t look like anything was taken, so that’s good.” He went over to the missing shelf and grabbed a new plank besides the bookcase. “Definitely some servants. I asked them to get me a new plank of wood. I forgot.” He set it right where the old old plank went. “Now we can place the books back properly. Come! Help me. It’s not like you’re restricted.” He laughter, putting the first book on the new shelf.
Ember stepped inside the room looking around the room before following him over to the book shelf and picked up a few books from the desk on her way over "here you said you said you liked to have them a certain way but u don't know how you organize them.. "
Nathaniel clicked his tongue to the roof of his mouth. “Thank you, Ember.” He placed the books neatly by colors. “Yes, I do have a certain way I like to organize them. It’s Simple. By color.” He placed a few more on the shelf. “Some of these books are actually diaries. I think it would be funny to read how my great grandparents dealt with their children.” He giggled.
" why do you organize them that way? " She asked as she handed him a couple of the books she had in her arms. She laughed a little at his interest in her grandparents and their parenting skills " well maybe you could read one at some point? "
Nathaniel pondered on that question. “It’s mainly for aesthetics. My office would look rather dull if I didn’t.” He grabbed the books from her arms, placing them on the new shelf. “Possibly, but I don’t think I need to read what they got wrong. I would be a wonderful parent, don’t you think? I mean so would you, but like— I can teach my kids to be well-mannered.”
Ember smiled and nodded her head of course why didn't I think of that. " she went over and grabbed the rest of the books as she listened to Nathaniel speak and she turned around with an eyebrow raised "I can teach my children to be well mannered too ya know "
“It’s a simple reason, really. It just makes everything look beautiful— compared to the dull palace.” Nathaniel shuffled more book onto the shelf. It was practically a whole rainbow and he loved it. “Now Ember, that’s not what I mean. I was just trying to bring you in and say you’d be a good parent too. I just worded it weird. I didn’t mean you couldn’t. I’m sure you can. After all, it takes two to raise a child.”
Ember chuckled a little and kissed Nathaniel on the cheek " I know dear I was messing with you. " she set the rest of the books down and walked over to Nathaniel wrapping her arms around his neck before kissing him "ya know.. I wouldn't mind training again~"
Nathaniel smiled, shucking more books into the case. “Now that was dirty. How was I supposed to know you were messing with me? Luckily, I love you.” He giggled. He wasn’t trying to be threatening, just a harmless joke in his mind. He was humming a little tune while organizing his books until he felt her wrap her arms around his neck from behind. The king smiled. “I can’t tell if you want to do actual training— or the other type of training.” He winked.
Ember laughed a little bit"oh I'm lucky huh? Whys that?" She placed another, kiss on his lips before speaking "well I was talking about actual training get your mind out of the gutter…but I don't suppose there's time for both we do have all day don't we?~" she had a devilish smirk on her face as she looked up at him her eyes glowing slightly
