Nathaniel stirred from Ember’s harsh tone, falling back asleep in her arms. He seemed quite peaceful, especially since he was with her. He seemed different, even when sleeping.
Ember shook her head and nestled in smiling a little at the fact that they were still in their blood covered clothes and they were sitting up right not even close to laying down
Nathaniel slumped over, sleeping in an awkward position. He woke up a few hours later, groaning from the crook in his neck. He gently moved Ember and got out of bed. He removed his bloodied clothes, slipping on a pair of pajama pants. He did not put on a top. Nathaniel crawled back into bed, wrapping his arms around Ember and fell back asleep.
Ember clung to him protectively closing her eyes and falling asleep within a few minutes, she moved a little when Nathaniel got up pulling ant the dress that was sticky with his blood as it clung to her skin but she didn't seem to wake up even when he came back
Nathaniel woke up third time, looking down at his wife. He took the sticky dress off of her and awkwardly shuffled to the room across the hall. He threw the dress on the bed and grabbed some comfy clothes for Ember. He shuffled back into his room and dressed her in the comfy clothes without spots of blood. Nathaniel climbed back in bed, snuggling his wife.
Ember had surprisingly slept through all of that and once he was done she clung to him tightly and she eyes squeezed shut
Nathaniel woke up for real this time. He was shivering, but also hot to the touch. He sat up in bed, squeezing his eyes shut. Slipping out of bed, he looking in his mirror, noticing how red his eyes looked. I’m probably just hung over… yeah that’s it. He didn’t have the strength to go do paper work in his study, so instead, he laid back in bed, pulling the sheets up to his neck. Nathaniel wrapped them around his body.
Ember woke up when he slipped out of bed this time and looked over at him "Nathaniel. Why are you awake What's going on? " She was groggy but still sat up on the bed looking over at her husband
Nathaniel shook his head, crawling back into bed. “I’m alright dear. It’s nothing. I’m probably just— hungover from the alcohol content I drank.” He squeezed his eyes shut, shivering as he wrapped the covers around him. “I’m just— I feel off.” He felt heat rise to his face. Was he really hungover?
Ember nodded and scooted closer to him and hugged him tighter "dear…you barely drank."
Nathaniel pressed himself against Ember for warmth, his hair stuck to his forehead by sweat. “I feel like I dank a lot. Why else would I feel off? There’s not other explanation, now is there?” He opened his eyes, squeezing them shut again from the burning. “I’m sure I’m fine. I’ll just sleep it off and I’ll be better by the afternoon.”
Ember nuzzled into him and kissed his head "Nathaniel you barely finished your first drink." She moved away enough to look at his face "you look awful.."
Nathaniel laid his head in the crook of Ember’s neck. “I feel awful.. everything is cold and everything hurts.” His skin was hot to the touch compared to what he told her. “I’m exhausted and I don’t want you to anywhere.”
"Baby I'm not going to go anywhere I promise but I really think something wrong with you."
Nathaniel clung to Ember, shivering up a storm. “Probably.” He murmured. “I-I feel human. And I don’t like that. I feel like a child with a cold. But I cannot contract illnesses.” He lay there in the silence, his breathing harsh until he called upon Lilith. The demon appeared by his bedside.
“I have been summoned—“ Lilith clicked her tongue. “Sire, you look awful.” She looked him over before feeling the top of his head. “Hm— it seems you contracted the demon flu.” She made eye contact with Ember. “It’s a rare illness demons can contract from the Fae. They have a bad bacteria they carry on them. Sometimes transmissible, but most of the time, it's not. It wouldn’t affect you if you worry. Demon flu is only contagious to other demons and its contagious period ends in two hours after symptoms show.” She took a deep breath. “It clears up after about 3 days and there is no medicine to help it. Tell me if it gets worse.” Lilith disappeared.
Nathaniel groaned, holding Ember tightly. He slowly fell asleep.
Ember looked up at Lilith listening to her speak and as she was getting ready to start speaking herself Lilith was gone she sighed and rolled her eyes before moving over to hold Nathaniel "get some sleep dear I want you to get better. "
Nathaniel nuzzled into Ember’s neck, his breathing slow. He still trembled as if it was 10 degrees. “You don’t have to stay trapped in here with me dear.” He mumbled. “You can go do whatever you want.” He tried keeping himself awake, trying to prove to Ember everything was okay. But he fell into a fevered trance and fell asleep quickly. He had— odd fever dreams— to say the least.
By the time he woke up again, he realized it was mid afternoon. He had to slip out of bed. There were so many things to do. Although, when he tried to stand up out of bed, he could barely do that. Nathaniel than realized he wouldn’t be able to get out of bed all day.
Ember shook her head "nonsense im not leaving your side." She nuzzled into him eventually falling asleep rather quickly herself s he ended up waking a few hours before Nathaniel had but she still stayed with him she sat up when he started to move "dear? Are you alright? "
Nathaniel looked back at his wife. He was sitting on the edge of the bed. His hair stuck to his forehead, face red from his body heat, and body trembling from the chills. “I don’t have the strength to get out of bed.” He muttered, laying back down and moved to snuggle Ember. “What if I need something? I can’t get it..”
Ember hugged him gently when he laid back down she stroked the back of his head letting out a shaky breath "dear..im sure everything is going to be okay…i hope"
Nathaniel whined, using Ember as a source of warmth. “I love you, Ember. Help me get better.” He closed his eyes, letting Ember soothe him. He looked worse than before. Every breath he took was raspy. Everything was going to be okay. It’ll go away in a few days and I’ll be back to myself.
(Hey..im sorryidk what happened i think i just needed a break)
"Just sleep love everything will be okay i promise." She kissed his head once more before he fell asleep and she just held him
(It's alright. I'm glad you took a break. It's important for you.)
Nathaniel mumbled something, opening his tired eyes. "I don't want to sleep. I don't feel like sleeping. Sleeping is not going to help me. I can't sleep." He drew in a shaky breath, his hot breath spilling down Ember's neck. He smiled, loving the kisses. He always liked Ember's kisses. They were the definition of comfort.
(Thank you im glad you understand i was just having an off day yesterday) (and also sorry i guess i didn't read it right)
Ember let out a soft laugh and nodded "okay well..would you like to try and eat something i can have somebody bring you food if youd like me to dear."
(Of course. Off days always happen and it’s more important to take care of your mental health and take breaks rather than spend all your energy on here.)(You don’t have to apologize if you read something wrong. I do the same thing too)
Nathaniel sat on the thought, sloppily kissing Ember on the cheek. “That’s a sweet offer, but I’d worry for you if I wasn’t around… and that’s my servant’s job. I bet word has spread by now.” He took a deep breath, closing his eyes. “Just— listen for any knocks at the door. Otherwise, you don’t have to worry about a lick of anything.” Reopening his eyes, he looked up at Ember. “You’re allowed leave, even if I’d worry. You also have a study devoted to you. They’re many books in there.”
