@yeetus
Same
Same
We split into two classes based on skill
But freshmen always have to take the class for the technically less skilled no matter whatWe do that too, although freshmen can audition into the top group. We've had freshmen come in being the best players in their sections, which is a little insane.
Yeah same.
But they have to audition, and then they can take the higher class the next year.
We have the auditions at the end of the year so you get one term in the higher band before the next year
I just had mine five seconds ago.
It was okay
Play an etude thing
Play three major scales from memory
Play a minor scale (not from memory)
Play chromatic from your lowest note ascending only
And that's it.
For our audition we had play a piece we prepared and sight-reading
That's kinda nice.
But if we arent happy with our chair placement, we can "challenge" people to get a higher chair.
Huh?
Its sorta complicated and I don't feel like explaining
OK
Oh yeah; the school I used to go to had challenges, but at the school I'm currently at we have chair tests in the fall and then again in the spring and the placements are fixed. All the incoming band freshmen audition in the spring before they start high school and everyone in the lower group auditions in the spring too (people in the top group don't have to re-audition). Groups are decided then but not chairs; we have chair tests really early in the school year which kinda sucks.
What are chair tests?
Challenges are when you and the person ahead of you basically re-audition and the band director decides who's better and adjusts chairs accordingly
What are chair tests?
Everyone plays some stuff for the band director and he puts you in order by skill
Oh
We never had that
Or maybe I just haven't done it yet
Oh well….. Not sure what to say
…OK
…. Meep.
….Blep
Anyone want to ree about something?
….Maybe
Ah.
…So
How's life?
Okay.
Good
Yeah
Finished almost all my homework for the weekend :3
