Snow Summer by Kit Peel is beautifully written. And my other favorite is The Muscian's Daughter by Susanne Dunlap. (Now there was a movie, but the book is landslides better.)

I couldn't stand My Side of the Mountain lol. I don't like survival fiction, especially middle grade survival fiction.

I kinda liked the first one slightly better, but the sequel was still really good. Tbh I'm just glad I've finally found someone else who's at least read the first book because it was one of my favourite reads of last year but it's so underrated.
