Oooookaay. Here I go. Apparently I have it more detailed then I thought. Like I said, I'm not sure how some details will work out, but here goes.
Just a note that some of this is probably subject to change.
So far, it's a story set in the future (maybe). Earth dying and there are a bunch of factions and general disorder. The lead governing faction of earth has hired a recon/research team to travel into deep space to look into possible resources. Ellen Weaver's a part of that team (as what I'm not sure yet). Anywho, at some point they start picking up strange readings and the ship malfunctions terribly and is attacked by a creature (not sure what yet) and the crew starts dying off.
Boils down to just Ellen (and maybe someone else) and she's found by elves (not the LOTR kind) and taken to their dimension as a sort of prisoner (since they have no idea what Ellen is when they find her). Ellen learns that their (the elves) dimension is the origin world of the mythological beings (and creatures) from our world (Basically any mythology). They infiltrated our world in bygone times, spying on us deciding if our world was a world worth invading at that time. Humans occasionally spotted them, and jumped to conclusions about what they were (hence where the myths come from). Anyway, humans advanced and they did not so they left to go back to their dimension. (And from now on are known as myth people for simplicity's sake)
As the story progresses, Ellen is able to contact the other side via some equipment she had with her and manages to reach her superiors. She tells them that the dimension she's in is basically another earth that's is not dying and could be have resources that could revive earth. They tell her that they will send a retrieval team and to lay low, befriend the locals, report back to them regularly, and find a way to open up the dimension to their side.
So yadda yadda yadda, some backstory here, some character development there, Ellen keeps them informed on what the world's like and she makes friends with some of the myth locals. It gets to the point where the retrieval team arrives, only it's not just a retrieval, it's a full out attack force. Turns out the faction that had hired her had decided that it would be best to invade so that they would have access to the resources. They attack and Ellen is retrieved against her will, but is reunited with some human friends. Ellen convinces them that the humans are in the wrong for attacking without warning, and after finding out that the faction would use the resources for military purposes instead of earth revival, they help her escape to the myth dimension.
Her friends on that side are mad of course. After a heartfelt apology, she tells them that the human army isn't going to be one for negotiating peacefully (as is obvious by their attack), they agree, and so they rally most of the myth people to war. Ellen's friends on the human side help by supplying the myth's with info (and maybe weapons).
So the battle happens, yadda yadda, the myth's win, and the humans surrender. The Main Bad Guy Leaders on the human side die. Due to Ellen explaining earth's problem to the myth people and that there are humans willing to negotiate, they agree on a parley. Ellen is appointed as a negotiator/mediator and the story ends on her reflecting on what has happened and her hopes for the future.
