Okay question: I received a bandana in the August Owlcrate box. What are ways to wear it, other than tying it in a loop and using it as a headband? Preferably easy ways, since I am hopeless with hair

@croccin-champagne

you can do the aesthetic pinterest hairstyles with it, which have very cute looks. you can also hook it through a belt loop or wear it loosely around your neck

basically pinterest will be your best friend for this. I like the cute bandana style that makes people look like aesthetic farmers

okay, here's a couple of the ones i was referring to! usually the length of your hair doesn't matter too much, the braid might be the most difficult for shorter hair, but as you can see, short or long the third one has Vibes

oh idk if you’re still looking for advice but i’ve been living in bandanas for the entirety of quarantine so here are some of my favorites

  • fold it into a little strip and use it as a hair tie and tuck in the ends (or not if that’s your vibe)

  • (sort of like the one in the third picture but) fold it corner to corner and hold it to your forehead and flip your hair over, then tie it at the base of your neck. i like to use it with my hair completely down or with it up and messy. you can also pull some little strands through to the front to make it look cooler

  • fold it corner to corner, tie the corners, and use it as a mask. i think i heard that there was a study at duke that said this isn’t completely safe, so would look it up before using it in public, but it looks cooler than a normal mask and you can look like a bandit

  • kind of a stretch and idk if you like to wear crop tops or not but what i’ve done before is fold it corner to corner (again i know) and take some old shoelaces. put one in the folded, wider end, and then put one at the top, fold the little triangle over the shoelace, staple it, and you have a cropped halter top

hope this helps!!

@croccin-champagne

i want to do the bandana crop top thing so bad, but alas, my boobs very much would not allow that. most of the bandanas we own wouldnt even be large enough to cover the front half of my body lmao. maybe i should look for really big ones

@croccin-champagne

small little bump to say

i would not at all be opposed to this also being used for fashion when it comes to writing and characters

questions about period specific fashion? somebody should be able to help!

questions about what a character might wear based on personality, and their family's income? dude i got you and i'm sure plenty of people would go nuts over helping

questions about makeup because you have characters that use it but you don't have any interest in it? oh boy. makeup is my kryptonite

literally any fashion and makeup related questions, be it references, ideas on what would be standard in your fantasy/dystopian realms, how to buy clothes if you're poor as shit, anything and everything is also fully welcome here

yeet i have a question. So, I'm like kinda developing a style of sorts but my parents don't really like the idea of thrifting clothes and im lowkey kinda broke so do u know any good places to shop?

@croccin-champagne

walmart is perfect if you know what you like, want to wear, and you find the clearance. rn mine has camis(the spaghetti strap tanks) for four bucks a piece

you can also shop online! etsy is best, because it supports small businesses, but you also can use amazon! i try not to personally, but plenty of people do and you can get great deals there.

can i ask why they don't like thrifting?

Thanks ill look there next time i go. Also, my parents don't like thrifting cuz they think its unsanitary especially now with corona.

@moss

Rue 21 usually has pretty good clothes for pretty cheap. And clearance sections are your friend.

i've never heard of rue 21 lol.
