Yeah, that explains it, I can’t find it in any of the Bibles in my house. I’ll have to look it up online, or try and find some of the older bibles

@Pickles group

I literally cannot find what version it's in. There's a bunch of people also asked questions about why it was left out, why other books were left out, etc., etc. And there's a bunch of stuff about Jewish stuff but I have no idea what it means
The results are unclear and my conclusion is: Dom is insane

@The-N-U-T-Cracker

(Protestants revolutionists took out parts of the Bible they didn't like.)

(I know that, but I didn’t think Maccabees was one of them… then again I know nothing about which book is which)

@Althalosian-is-the-father book

Yeah it's pretty great. Though I warn you that it gets brutal at times so beware. Like the Maccabean mother and her seven sons (which is actually an Old Testament testament to the resurrection of the dead).

Lol always.
What you're talking about with the Jewish stuff is the Apocrypha (term invented by St. Jerome who regretted it the rest of his life). What was called the Apocrypha are some books of the Bible that were considered not legit. But the reasoning had to do with what the Jews thought. Which is dumb because Jews don't believe in Jesus so why does what they think matter here.

But yeah, most Protestants (called that because they rebelled against the Catholic church) don't have the original version of the Bible because folks like Luther and other reformers kinda got edit happy on the Bible.

still doesn't make sense but okay

@ravens

also HELLO it’s been a hot minute!! to answer your question, dom:

Maccabees? Like the book of the Bible?? Also not to get on your backs or anything, but how are you Christian if you don't know the basics of the Bible?

because being a christian is not all about the bible?? at least not for me. because i agree with the concept of christianity more than what Those Christians interpret the bible to mean now. because christianity is supposed to be about loving everyone and accepting everyone no matter what they look like or what they believe in or who they love.

to be completely honest i’m starting to question whether i even want to be christian?? because if other christians are saying that the bible says gay=bad, if they’re saying that non-white people=bad, if they’re saying non-christian people=bad and that that’s what christianity is? then i want nothing to do with it.

and they’re like “well the bible says this—“ can we just shut up about the bible for a sec? your english king james edition is not the original version of the bible. there are many words and phrases in the original hebrew texts that have been lost in translation or misinterpreted. there are words that meant something completely different when they were written than they do now.

can we just take a minute to remember what god intended for christianity to mean?
