"I told you, to look for the book." She scrunched her face up, trying to see the lettering above her head on the shelf. "It was right here, somewhere. . . Oh! There it is!" She pulled herself up the ladder and grabbed the book, then made her way back down. She held the book out to Farron.
"This made me think of you, its a book about a cartographer."
Farron cracked a smile as he looked down at the book, “A cartographer? Interesting.”
"Well, not just that," she said, trying not to seem to excited about it (she was such a dork sometimes) "He also acts a lot like you, you know." she pointed at a line in the book.
He sat there, face emotionless, heart full of pain. And he didn't tell a soul.
The smile dropped and Farron realised how accurate him and the the character actually were, “Looks like it… I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not…” He wrung his hands.
Azura grabbed his hand in hers.
"You know, I would've read this whole book if you were still angry at me, just so I could be reminded of you," she whispered.
Farron tightened his grip on Azura’s hand slightly, “I know you would have…” He replied gently. After a few minutes of silence, he asked quietly. “Why… why do you like someone like me?”
Azura smiled a huge smile.
"Because you are the sweetest person I know. You always put others before yourself, and then you act unbothered so as not to draw attention to yourself. Sure, you're broken," she paused and went to hug him, "but that's okay."
Farron slowly wrapped his arms around Azura, “It’s not okay…” He whispered, closing his eyes tightly, “I… need to be better and get over myself…”
"It's okay Farron. Believe me when I say, everybody is broken. Everyone has things they don't like about themselves. But you are a good person. You want to do the right thing. And for that, I love you." She sensed him hugging her tighter, and she hugged back. "I promise, it's okay."
Farron nodded his head slowly. Even though he didn’t quiet believe her words, he felt a little better, “How is it that you can always make me feel better?”
She buried her face in his chest.
"I don't know, but I try my best."
They were interrupted by Lynn, who came from the back of the library and could see them.
"Pfft, get a room."
Farron flipped the girl off, “Ever heard of privacy?” He muttered, resting his chin a top Azura’s head and not carinf if Lynn was still watching.
“In a public library? Nope, never heard of that.” Lynn didn’t skip a beat and continued putting books on shelves.
Azura laughed out loud but kept her arms around Farron, not wanting the moment to end.
Despite himself, Farron chuckled with a small shake of his head, “You sure you want to be friends with her?”
“Of course,” she said, and pulled away.
“Well, I wanted to read these books today,” she gestured at a pile that Lynn had saved for her, “ but I don’t know if I have time.”
“You do,” Farron said, giving her a soft smile, “You can spend the rest of the day reading if you want, we can set off later tomorrow at some point so you can read on the morning too.”
"We can always come back once this is over, though, and I would so much rather find your mother than read."
“I know, but I feel we should relax before we go on this… quest. Who knows when we’ll get another chance to relax.”
“True, True. Well, it’s up to you.”
“Let’s relax for a while.”
"Okay, then I can finish this book," she waved the book in his face. "I read the first three in the series this morning, and they're really good!"
“Three!” Farron chuckled a little, “Alright, let’s go find somewhere to sit.”
Azura made her way to a small window seat in the second floor, and they sat there together. Azura laid her head on farron’s shoulder and began to read.
Farron slowly drifted off to sleep while Azura read, resting his head in top off hers as it lolled it the side. His eyes closed slowly and he drifted off peacefully.
Of all the places to be, this was where Azura was happy. She was glad that they had decided to rest for a bit, since it seemed like they always had somewhere to be after they left the palace. They stayed in town for another week, until finally it was time to leave. Azura made her rounds, saying goodbye to everyone she had met. She said farewell to Lynn last, and she was a bit sad that she would be leaving her new friend.
