Calix nodded as they walked in. "Truth or dare Serenade?"

“Dare.” She answered, closing her wings so she could fit through the doorway.

"I dare you to go into this place's basement." Calix replied.

Firiko and Damian followed, Damian shifting to wolf form as they came in, his claws clicking on the floorboards.

Serenade looked at Calix blankly.
“What’s a basement?”

The floor of this place below the main floor.

Damian stared at her, "I've never lived in a house before and I know what a basement is. How come you don't??"

“This is why my Divine Protector wants me to socialize more. I live alone on a tropical island with no other sentient life.”

"Ok well, I dared you to go in the basement." Calix said then grabbed a key from behind the bar and walked over to a door and opened it. He held it open showing just a dark abyss.

Serenade shrugged and went inside. She gave a small shout and listened as the sound bounced around.
“You know I have echolocation, right?”

Damian glanced down the steps. "What's so daring about going into the basement??"

"Um, for one there is something I haven't gotten around to killing down there……" Calix said looking down into the basement.

“I hope nothing down there is deadly, as I am powerless to defend myself outside of my islands aura.”

Firiko looked up, clearly interested.
Damian shifted, focusing on the shadows whispers.

Serenade made small sounds regularly, trying to find whatever it was that was down there.

Calix walked back over to the bar grabbed his dagger and went back to standing by the door.

Serenade closed her eyes so she could echolocate better, and unfurled her wings, ready to fly up and out of danger if needed.

Damian looked up, the shadows told him something was down there but he couldn't figure out what….

Serenade braced herself, opening her eyes and letting them adjust to the darkness. She took a deep breath, her wings shaking slightly as she siphoned magic from them, swirling it around her hands to create a light.

Calix just stared down the stairs. He too had no idea what it was. But he also forgot to take care of it. When he first got here he went to take some stuff downstairs when he encountered it and walked calmly back up the stairs.

Serenade’s wings drooped as she sucked the magic out of them, and she gave a small cry of pain as she repurposed the instinctual magic. Several feathers fluttered about.

"You good down there?" Calix called down the stairs.

“Yes, it’s just a little painful to siphon the magic from my wings,” she responded, gritting her teeth.

Firiko watched with concern, but neither or Damian made a move.

"Ok. Well stop doing that then." Calix said then checked the time.
