Danny recoils from his harsh tone and looks sad.
"It was an accident. I didn't mean to."
As he walks off and Danny's face twists angrily and he starts mumbling. He also turns his back on Hosea.
"I could revive him, you just have to ask. It would be better than snapping at me!"
Hosea looked at the kid and shook his head. "No, kid, just leave it alone. What happened, happened and we don't need to change it. Just be more careful next time."
"Hello!" Guinevere called to Danny and Asawin. "Listen, I'm supposed to be hunting down magic users like you guys, but I really don't want to have to kill you. Can you just give me something of yours that I can give to my client to make him believe that I killed you? There's quite a bit of money involved."
“Something of mine that would show myself?” Asawin thought about it for a bit before he thought of something. He lowered his wings to where he can grab them. He took a deep breath and ripped out a handful of his metallic feathers.
“Here’s something” he handed the bunch of feathers to the woman with a smile as his wing was bleeding slightly.
"Works for me!" Guinevere said, pocketing the handful of feathers. "What about you, squirt?" she said, turning to Danny. "Something tells me you're not willing to part with that scythe, but what about something on that cloak of yours?"
"One, don't call me to squirt, I'm not that young. Two… I don't really have anything I could part with on me. Everything I have is magical and can only be used by me. Hmmm…" Danny said thoughtfully.
He didn't want to part with a piece of his Cloak, because that could mess with its magical properties.
"Oh! I know. I can get a cloak that looks like my Cloak!" Danny waves his scythe in the air and black smoke collects in front of him. When it dissipates, a cloak similar to his own appears and falls on the floor.
"There you go. A non-magical, random cloak." He picks it up and hands it to Guinevere.
Hosea was still by the edge of the clearing. Though he'd stepped back into the shadows where it was much harder to see him. He couldn't help but chuckle slightly when Danny complained about being called squirt. He took a silent step back, and turned to leave. Figuring that these kids could take care of themselves.
"Sweet! Do you think you could put a bloodstain or two on there for added effect?" she asked. "I've never seen magic like yours before. You must be very powerful to conjure an object from smoke like that? How did you do it? Did you enchant the smoke? How are you not suffering any ill effects? How–"
"Heh, you could say I'm the descendant of a powerful being. Death to be exact," Danny interrupts.
He waves the Scythe again over the cloak and little clouds of light-sucking, black smoke appear and each rains a small drop of what looks like blood.
"I have the Scythe of Death, the Cloak of Death, and powers of Life and Death. Only I can use these; anyone else who tried would be cursed to wander Earth when they die as a bodiless spirit, lonely forever. That's why that guy went poof and why I could've revived him. At least, I could have earlier, but I sent his spirit on to Hell. He wasn't the greatest guy."
Hosea stopped in his tracks when he heard those words. Ah shiiiiiiiiiit. He'd had a run in with Death before, and they did not like each other. Especially after Hosea beat Death in front of Hades. That and Hosea was a healer, so he a lot of the time brought people back moments after they died. And he'd just snapped at this kid. He turned around slowly and looked through the trees at the kid. Sure enough, he did look like Death. Well that's just fan-freaking-tastic.
"God is like my father," Danny continues. "Well, my actual dad passed when I turned 12. It's a part of the Death bloodline," he explains sadly. "When my first son turns 12, I'll die too, and no one knows where our spirits go. I've excepted it though."
Hosea looked around and sighed. He could easily leave and not have to deal with this anymore. No one would likely notice, he was really good at blending into the background. But part of him continued nagging that he should help, these were just kids in this world after all. "I'm gonna fricken hate myself for this," he grumbled. Then he pulled his hood down over his eye, just so it covered his face a little more, and walked back to the small group. He didn't say anything but stood where they could see him if they were paying any attention.
“Well, thank you for your help,” Guinevere said, crouching slightly so that she didn’t completely tower over who she thought of as the Littlest Edgelord That Could(tm).
“As for me, I’ll just be reporting back to my client. You all might want to disperse for now so that you don’t stand out more than you already do.”

"Disperse? Uh… I don't really have anywhere to go. Could I come with? You know, I look very human and I've been practicing on controlling my powers. I could totally go with you!" Danny says. He gives her the puppy eyes. They always work.
"See?" Danny adds as he swoops his Scythe out in front of him. The same black smoke concentrates around him, and when it disperses, his cloak is gone and replaced with commoners clothes. He then simply sticks his arm holding the Scythe out to his side, and is disappears in a poof of smoke.
Hosea shook his head. "Whether you think it or not, we'd be better off as a group," he spoke up, crossing his arms in front of him.
Asawin glanced at the three people confusingly.
“I somewhat agree with you” he said to the seemingly annoyed man.
“Not to mention the fact that some of the hunters that are after us are indeed magic users and are supposed to be on our side” he brought up the obvious though he thought it was better to remind these people about the facts.
"I actually have a different reason for saying that we should stay together," Hosea corrected. He was keeping a calm mellow tone to try and keep these kids from thinking he wanted to kill them. He'd learn pretty early on that for some reason his normal voice sounded like he wanted to kill people. "You see, while traveling alone you can move faster and you don't have to worry about anyone else if you get into a fight. However, when you get cornered by more people than you can handle, and I say when because it will happen, you stand more of a chance in a group. In this kind of situation where you are actively being hunted down you want to make friends and have a group that you can depend on. That is why I say we stay a group."
Guinevere arched an eyebrow before looking around to the entire group.
“You do understand that I am reporting to the man that sent me out to kill you all, correct?” she asked. “Listen, if you all want to stick together, that’s fine. Just go in the opposite direction of me if you want to remain hidden, or at least without a massive target on your backs.”
“Wait,” Danny says confused. “Does he actually know what we look like? I just arrived here and look exactly like a human, because I am technically part human. If not, you can just say you picked up more people to hunt magic-users, but really we can do the same thing you are doing and help.”
“A child with a scythe, a man whose face is already on wanted posters, and the person who blasted out of a bar roof in an attempt to save the wanted man? I’d be better off walking into town with my husband and son!”
"Ah, the old I'm better off on my own, person who then goes off on their own and turns up later needing help," Hosea shook his head. "I think you'll find that I'm wanted in most places being wanted in a tiny town like this one is not that big of a deal. And more than half that bar was drunk when this kid flew out of the roof, they won't likely remember this by tomorrow. And this kid with the scythe shows more promise than you think."
“Still not a kid, but thanks.” Danny says, he pretends like it’s no big deal, but he’s honestly pretty pumped Hosea complemented him. “Also, my Scythe can go away, not sure where exactly, but I don’t carry it around most of the time.”
"Now I suggest that we move now before the group of people headed this way get to us," Hosea tipped his head slightly indicating that he was listening to something. "From the sound's of it, there are close to twelve of them. And before anyone says we can take them, sure would could. I could take all of them without a problem. I just don't want to right now, so come on, let's get moving." He started walking towards the trees again. Without telling anyone that he was headed straight for the people he'd just mentioned. He figured someone would notice and question it. And then he would have to explain it to them.
