(Nah, Let's try to get this back w the others. Hopefully more will reply tomorrow.)
(I am still here and willing to throw my Wisp into some situations)
Crimson frowned and raised an eyebrow at the woods, on edge. What if the leaders are right and the woods are haunted? Haunted? Haunted. His train of thought got delayed as he tried to distract himself from the fact that he did indeed just leave his mother.
(Ah yes. I like where this is going. Best get Fallon to make the next move though.)
“Okay, okay. I need questions one at a time, and let’s ask them while we walk. The woods at night can be a scary place if you’re caught off guard.” Fallon said, shaking her head as she dragged a hand through her hair. She still looked strangely calm, considering what was going on around her. A forced calm, but they didn’t need to know. “Magic is…a hard one to define. At least when you try to put it in boxes.”
"But that's what we can do though, right?" Josiah said, "Magic."
Crimson huffed a bit, muttering something before clearing his throat and speaking clearly. "And if we have magic, what kind?"
Hearing about the potential danger that might be lurking around them in this forest, Adayu approached the group more, most likely looking for some sense of security from the presence of others. Now that he was here, he paid attention to what the others talked about but never intervened
“We’ll see, I don’t know.” Fallon said, shrugging a shoulder. “There are ways to find out before it’s clear, sure, but I’m not super familiar with those ways. You just have to…wait and see. Mine came in suddenly, but it was expected, because my people have all had magic.”
Crimson groans and starts to scratch at his arms again, skin flaking off and something red and shinny peeking through.
"I suppose…" Josiah started, "maybe… maybe I can control others."
"Suddenly is an understatement." Veena muttered under her breath. Her hands had been gone. Of course she could still feel them, move them, but invisible to sight. All that warned her of the occurrence was a warm tingling through her body. Veena raised a gloved hand to her forehead, pressing on her brows. "Magic." She said a bit louder, unsure what to believe.
As he listened to the others, Adayu could not stop from pulling at his own body, searching for any weird sign that might indicate he had magic. There was nothing wrong with his body and he could not feel anything different with his mind either, so perhaps he didn't have any….? No, it was too early to come to any conclusions. Maybe wait a while more, just to be sure.
Crimson noticed everyone else checking out their body and stuff for anything unusual. Might as well do the same. He thought, looking at his arms and almost choking on his words. "My arms- My arms have scales."
Jayde looked over to Crimson after analyzing her own body. She didn't see anything different on herself unlike the others. Nothing out of the ordinary was happening to her and she felt a bit of jealousy even though she didn't know why. Isn't it a good thing not to have powers? She thought to herself before focusing on Crimson again. She saw red scaled poking out of his scratched flesh and she cringed at bit. "What does that mean? Are you like a reptile?"
Josiah stared at him. "Can you- can you blow fire?"
Luna turned her head sharply to look at Josiah. "Is that what that was back there?" she asked quietly. "Mind control?" She looked around. Everyone seemed to be searching for signs of magic on themselves. "Does everyone else have magic?" She frowned as she walked. Nothing was happening to her on her body or in her brain. Did she not have magic?
Jayde shook her head at Luna's question and shrugged as well. "I don't think I do. Maybe it's a genetic thing." She assumed while watching Crimson's skin peel off slowly. She then turned towards the other people in the group and saw Veena's hands disappearing as if they were never there. "Is it because we're leaving the village that these… powers are revealing themselves?"
“It might take a bit to show, especially because you didn’t even know it existed for a while.” Fallon explained, watching the others carefully. Her gold eyes belied an intelligence she usually hid behind stupid jokes and dumb actions. “More basic forms of magic might come in faster, too. Simpler ones that are decently cut and dry. Like an elementalist’s abilities. You guys were cut off from magic for your whole lives, yeah. It’s starting to show because you’re away, and because of my magic. Magic responds to magic.”
Josiah looked stunned. "Why did they keep us there?" He looked as if he might fall to the ground. "Did they know?"
“I… don’t think I can answer that one, man.” Fallon said, glancing up at the sky for a moment. “But it’s hard to imagine they didn’t.”
Josiah dropped to the ground and was silent. "I just don't know why they would do something like this," he whispered.
Luna sighed. She wasn't very surprised the elders had done that to them. She had always suspected they were hiding something from the rest of the population. She grabbed Josiah by the arm and pulled him up. "I know its a lot, but we need to keep going," she said to him quietly as she pulled him along. "You can lean on me if you need to, just keep walking."
"I think I need to stop for a moment," Crimson muttered, his eyes flashing a deep gold as his pupils became slits and he promptly passed out on the forest floor. His fingernails were at least an inch longer than they already were and he was shivering.
