(Why am I just imagining Adelia giving Zelda trouble for "enchanting a child", Reese being confused as hell and Adelia telling Reese that she can fix whatever Zelda did? Why is that the main thing on my mind?)
(Why am I just imagining Adelia giving Zelda trouble for "enchanting a child", Reese being confused as hell and Adelia telling Reese that she can fix whatever Zelda did? Why is that the main thing on my mind?)
(Lol. We can definitely make that happen tho!)
(Yeah. That'll be fun.)
Zelda knocked on the cottage door, Reese standing behind her, she held her weapon and Reese held theirs.
"Let me in, sisters."
Kathrina and Veronica spent much of the morning packing and tidying up. They prepared for every outcome they could think of, including a visit from their elder sister.
Victor, as usual, watched the whole thing. He occasionally move to the window, but would return to his perch if nothing interesting showed up.
As the sisters worked, they sang of their sister, the wrongs done to her, and the glory to come. By the time they were finished, they both gave happy little shrieks before sitting down to take a break.
“I wonder what we’ll do, once our brat sister is removed from the throne,”Veronica said.
“Don’t think too far ahead. We still have to remove her,”Kathrina warned. Veronica sighed.
“Still, I can’t help but wonder.”
“When will you ever learn, Veronica?”
(Okay. I’m a bit behind. Give me a sec)
“Oh, she’s here!”Veronica burst.
She jumped up from her seat and opened the door, smiling wide.
“Come in, dear sister! You’re always welcome in our humble abode. And who is this?”
“Veronica, really? Why do you always have to get so formal?”Kathrina sighed.
“It’s being respectful, Kati. I wish you would do the same,”Veronica snorted.
“Hello, Zelda. The weapon rack is just to your left,”Kathrina said, ignoring Veronica.
Veronica huffed and crossed her arms over her chest. Victor hopped up on a window near the door, meowing his own greeting at Zelda. His eyes bored into Reese, cautious but curious.
She placed her and Reese's weapons on that rack.
"This is my child, Reese," she said, "I usually leave them with their babysitter, Ms.Karen, but she got fired a week ago. I also brought them because they're going to help us."
"It's nice to meet you, Aunts."
Zelda patted her child on the head.
“It’s good to meet you too, Reese! I’m Veronica, and this is Kathrina. You are so unique, just look at you. You’re gorgeous!”
“I thought I was going to say that,”Kathrina complained.
“You were too slow,”Veronica replied with a giggle.
Victor meowed and hopped down, brushing Reese’s legs and purring. He hopped back up on the windowsill, kneading the wood.
“Ooh, I think Victor likes you. He’s a wonderful guardian, and so lovable. Just remember, Victor is the leader of this house. We are all guests at his convenience,”Veronica commented.
Kathrina snorted.
“That was just to stop us from fighting. Anyway, I have made a feast, and there is plenty to eat for all of us.”
Kathrina left for the kitchen. Veronica giggled and waved for Zelda and Reese to follow.
After her napping incident, the rest of Adelia's day seemed to fly by. She found herself winding down a little earlier than usual, so, with the sun still a ways up in the sky, she changed into a different dress and decided to go for a leisurely walk around the gardens.
Adelia was quick to soak up the sunlight as she stepped outside the castle's walls. She had always loved the castle, but the gardens were overly special to her. As she walked through the rows of flowers, each stem seemed to straighten up, and the buds tilted towards her, and the petals unfurled. The flowers were almost brought back to life when Adelia returned to the garden.
(Bump?)
(Hi. Waiting on @RiverTheSeawing to reply, hence why I haven’t said anything)
(Sounds good! :))
Zelda went inside immediately, Reese stopping to pet Victor before following.
"Today is the day, sisters. All who have wrong us will fall and we will rise victoriously!"
Reese looked at her a little confusedly.
“I knew it! I knew it, I knew! I told you, Kati! My prediction finally came true!”Veronica cried.
“Will you shut it, Veronica! You’ve already said this a thousand times today,”Kathrina groaned.
“But, it’s true.”
“Obviously.”
“Kati, when do you ever laugh?”Veronica complained.
“When I’m talking to Zakrith. Now, sit and eat. We can plot while we feast,”Kathrina said.
She turned to Zelda and waved for her to take any seat at the conveniently square dinner table. Veronica waited next to Kathrina, her fingers tapping rapidly against each other, a big smile on her face.
“I made my special gourmet for this special occasion,”Kathrina announced.
(Sorry this is really long, but I had time and inspiration! I don't mean to rush you guys with how I end this, take your time by all means!)
How lovely would it be to have every kind of flower in the world here? Adelia wondered, smiling at a blooming group of orange flowers she passed. It would be wonderful.
A soft wind blew through the garden, and Adelia reached toward it with her hand to pull it closer. The warm wind rushed over her and blew her hair back off her shoulders. A pure laugh erupted from the queen's lips. But just as quickly as the happy moment arrived, it vanished.
A cold shiver seized her, and a wave of sleepiness crashed over her so much so that she almost collapsed where she stood. The morning sun's energy was wearing off faster and faster each day. Fortunately, she was able to make her way to a stone bench next to a nearby fountain. She laid down on the hard surface and instantly fell into a deep sleep…
It was a normal day, maybe even sunnier than a normal day. A young woman, occupied with work sat behind a desk, tapping her fingers on the paper she was supposed to be analyzing for mistakes. It's too beautiful a day to be sitting inside doing paperwork, she thought with a frown. Suddenly, a pair of hands ran down her arms, and she felt a flurry of kisses pepper her neck. She gasped and turned to see her lover with a grin on his face. At the sight of his face, and excited squeal burst from her lips.
"Oh how I've missed you!"
"I've missed you too," he murmured back, pulling her into his arms and kissing her longingly. As much as she wanted to kiss him, she felt herself being weighted down.
"My love," he mumbled into her lips, "you seem stressed."
"I am…" she whispered. "There are just so many things to do. Royal duties, keeping up with my mother's responsibilities now that she's going to descend soon, and-"
"So let's leave," he blurted, a wild look in his eyes.
Confusion clouded her eyes. "What?"
He frantically took her hands in his. "Let's leave. You and me. We can run away. Live our lives together, like we always knew it should be."
Fear quickly replaced her sense of confusion. "No! Are you crazy? I can't do that! Not after Zel-"
"Forget about them!" he begged, squeezing her hands tighter. "Come with me."
She silently slipped her hands out of his and clasped them in front of her chest. "That is something I just can't do."
"Not even for me?"
She winced at the tone of his voice. The thought of his hands on her, his lips dominating hers in a kiss… She closed her eyes and visibly shook her head to clear her thoughts. When her eyes opened again, their naturally blue color was upset but guarded. "I'm sorry… but not even for you."
His expression melted into an emotionless stare. "If that's how you want it to be…"
Without another word, he turned and left, leaving the door wide open behind him so she was sure to hear his retreating footsteps. The woman sunk to her knees, overcome with emotion. Her hands released from her chest to clutch her stomach gently.
A rush of anguish seized Adelia, and she woke up with a start to find the sun sinking lower in the sky.
(Fascinating dream. Definitely one that inspires many questions. I love reading those types of dreams! Anyway, I’m waiting for @RiverTheSeawing. I’m curious what Zelda is going to do, and how the plan is going to work out)
(Yeah, hopefully that dream -especially the end- will make even more sense later ;))
"I believe what'll work best is if we tire out the guards with another fight, so we can get past them easier. Then, we shall fight whoever's on the inside ourselves."
(Yes, this plan is 100% inspired by Daughter of Evil and I'm not ashamed to admit it.)
“Why not simply hypnotize them into doing our work for us? We could have our own little miniature army. And, while the guards are fighting, we stroll into the throne room,”Veronica offered.
“Or, we use an army of skeletons to kill everyone in our way, skipping the long hypnotizing part, and ‘stroll into the throne room.’ Makes it so much simpler if everyone is dead, Veronica,”Kathrina countered.
“Oh, you’re too harsh, Kati. Hypnotizing people means taking over without having to throw out so many bodies.”
“Killing everyone means we don’t have to fight them again.”
(Hello? Camie? @RiverTheSeawing? Anybody?)
"How about we strike a middle ground," Zelda growled, "what if we hypnotize them to fight each other and throw the bodies of whoever they kill into the river. Then we'll have much less to fight afterwards, or even none if we're lucky."
“I’m fine with that. Though, I wouldn’t mind saving some of those bodies. I like having new friends. The dead have so much to talk about,”Kathrina said.
“You are just too morbid, Kati,”Veronica commented.
“We’re dark. At least I embrace that.”
Veronica huffs.
“I embrace it! But, I prefer being clean while I do it. Why should I have to dig up bodies when I can make everyone around me beg me to ask them to do it?”Veronica asked.
“Well, the perfect princess.”
“Oh, now you’re just being rude!”
“Will you shut up and acknowledge our elder sister! You were the eager one about this in the first place,”Kathrina snapped.
Veronica grew quiet, glaring. Kathrina stared back at her with absolute disdain.
“Fine. I agree with this plan,”Veronica sighed.
“Don’t forget to save some bodies for me. I’m saying that to both of you,”Kathrina said, pointing a finger back and forth between Veronica and Zelda.
“Fine, fine. Now, can we eat this glorious feast before preparing for domination? Oh, and by the way, dear Zelda, we’re already packed,”Veronica said with a giggle.
"Good," she nodded, "let us feast."
And so they feasted.
Sitting up quickly from the bench in the garden, Adelia gripped her head and winced. That dream had been too realistic. The warm hues of dusk traced their way into the daylight. The queen slowly rose to her feet. She had to be ready to collect some of the last rays of daylight. How else would she be able to make it through the night?
(Sorry I didn’t say something sooner. I figured I’d let @RiverTheSeawing lead this next part, because of Zelda)
