(River, do you want to do something with Reese?)
(River, do you want to do something with Reese?)
(I'm guessing Reese had been revived, so sure.)
Reese sat on their bed, looking a little guilty. They couldn't help but think of the kids about their age who had mocked them for being made of shadows. After he was revived, his weakness to light was negated, but people still made fun of him for it.
As Jovie opened the door, they looked towards it.
(Hello?)
(I'm still here. I can't really do anything since I only have one character now and I'm waiting for Camie to reply. I might add a second character soon to fill the character-sized void left by Zelda's death.)
(Yeah, waiting on Camie too)
(Heyyyy, sorry! I have returned! Should get a post up in about an hour, hour and a half!)
(Hey @RiverTheSeawing, I have an idea that you might like for your characters. Just a thought that could be a unique twist)
(What if, when Reese killed Zelda, she ‘possessed’ Reese, and her soul is lying dormant within the kid. It’s up to you since they’re your characters, of course)
(I like your idea, but I want to expand on it. She's going to use a powerful necklace to control Reese at some point and, since her soul will end up in it, it will end up discarded by Reese after a huge fight with pretty much themself and will end up on the neck of my second character. Who will then just cause little bits of trouble before having a confrontation with Reese and a scary transformation sort of thing. I also want to say that her soul ended up in Reese not because they killed her, but because they both sorta had the same magic and her soul ended up in the vial of shadows and in Reese when they were revived.)
(Ooh, nice. I like it. ‘Thumbs-up’)
(Wow, object permanence is a thing… Sorry guys!)
Jovie burst into Reese's room with a joyous smile on her face. "Reese, what do you think of the improvements to our armed guard program?" she asked eagerly.
"It's really good," they said in their honest opinion, "I bet the twins would kill themselves trying to get in." Though their words were honest, they seemed distracted.
Jovie giggled, but she quickly noticed Reese's absence. "Hey, what's up?" she asked quietly, walking over to sit beside them on the bed.
"Something feels wrong," they said, "like, I just haven't felt completely here since my revival."
(Greetings. I am still here, just watching this conversation between Jovie and Reese. I’m honestly stuck trying to decide which one of my multiple ideas I want to do with the twins. There’s just too many choices, and half of them I can’t even describe!)
(I'm excited to see what you do Serpentess! ;D)
Jovie frowned. "What do you mean? Do you think it has something to do with Adelia?"
"I don't know what it has to do with," they said, "perhaps it could. I don't blame her, it does seem hard to revive a shadow being using white magic."
Jovie pressed her lips together, remembering the moments just after Veronica fled the battle scene.
Adelia threw her arms up and deflected the fireball away into the sky. Once her sister was out of sight, she collapsed to her knees in exhaustion. Jovie quickly moved beside her for support, still emotional after loosing Reese.
"My queen…" Jovie whispered, struggling to get the words out. "Are you alright?"
Adelia smiled weakly. "Yes, I'm fine." Concern creased her face. "Are you alright, my dear?"
Jovie's face crumbled in an instant. "Reese is gone," she whispered.
Adelia's expression fell. "Oh…"
Jovie burst into tears, and Adelia wrapped her arms around her in a comforting hug. Jovie, without thinking, accepted the hug and sobbed into her queen's chest.
"It will be alright," Adelia murmured, stroking Jovie's hair gently. "It will be alright." Slowly, the queen's touch spread waves of calm through the maid, and she began to breath evenly again.
"Is there anything you can do?" Jovie whispered. "Can't you try?"
Adelia looked thoughtful. "Maybe… it will be difficult, but…"
Slowly, she reached her hand towards the spot Reese had been last standing. She closed her eyes and focused her energy to healing, restoring, reviving… A blinding flash of light emitted from her hand, causing Jovie to turn away and squeeze her eyes shut. Adelia too had to close her eyes, and after a moment, the light began to die down. Both women opened their eyes to see a familiar figure there before them again.
Jovie's eyes teared up instantly, but the sadness and despair in her heart was replaced with joy in an instant. "Reese!"
She leapt up, and as she did, Adelia's eyes rolled back into her head and she collapsed to the ground.
"Adelia almost died bringing you back," Jovie murmured. "She had never used her magic like that before."
"And I am grateful for it," they said, "but I'd rather she not risk her life. She is dear to our hearts and, without her, the kingdom would fall into anarchy."
They sighed before feeling a slight electric shock and flinching.
Jovie opened her lips to reply, but Reese suddenly flinched, which startled her. "Oh! Are you alright?"
"Y-Yeah," they said, "just a little startled." They wondered where that shock had come from, as it seemed to come from nowhere.
A knock came from the open doorway, and Adelia's sweet face smiled at them. "Hello Reese," she greeted as warmly as ever.
"Hello, aunt." Reese smiled before they got shocked by a book of magical items falling off of a shelf. Reese could've sworn they didn't even have this book on their shelf.
(Ooh, I’ve been inspired, in many ways. Sorry for the length)
Veronica hummed a gentle tune, magic flowing from her oily fingers as she caressed the blade of a dagger. The pungent red paste she used smothered the devilish blade.
She drew a rune with her fingers, her thoughts straying to Zelda’s death. Angry tears formed in her eyes as she hummed and she poked her finger on the blade tip. A flash of red fire burst, engulfing the blade, then faded, no trace of the oil left. However, the silver blade was now stained red.
‘Mother, shall we feed today?’
Veronica gasped, stunned by the suave voice in her mind. A little hum rang in her ears and the dagger’s hilt warmed up, soothing her cool fingers.
She looked at the dagger and she sensed something like a smile from it. The dagger! How was it talking to her? She wasn’t powerful enough to make intelligent items!
‘Power has nothing to do with it. Willpower is the key.’
Veronica stared at the dagger. It flashed a deep, menacing red.
‘I will help you avenge Zelda. Pain is beauty.’
The hilt became excruciatingly hot and Veronica’s eyes flashed red. She screamed then collapsed, the dagger flying from her hand. Its reddened hilt cooled, becoming silver again.

This is the dagger (not the best quality pic, but it works)

Kathrina stood before the massive eye of the skeleton dragon. Hatred and anger radiated from the dragon’s bones, many of its chains still imbedded in those same bones.
Kathrina caressed the skull, unable to reach the beast’s eye. The smooth texture still seemed so alive, and the hanging air of hatred thickened around her, inspecting her.
“Soon, I will awaken you. Very soon. Then you will lead my army to destroy the castle belonging to the very family that put you here,”Kathrina cooed.
The heaviness in the air seemed to approve, but it lingered.
“I will admit I am of that same family, but I forsake the name entirely. I am Kathrina, a mistress of the darkest nights, not some weakling bowing to the sun.”
The heavy air moved away, then the walls of the cavern groaned repeatedly, as if pulsing. A few of the witches looked around worriedly.
“Don’t worry my sisters. It is only Cruhxus laughing,”Kathrina said with a smile.
Adelia entered the room a bit more, bringing more light in with her. She and Jovie both jumped as the book fell.
"Here, let me get that," Jovie said, pushing off the bed and moving to pick up the book.
