“Kata! Kati, please!”Veronica calls.

She turns to Adelia, pulling out her other ‘cleaner’ scroll in case Adelia tried anything. Tears still streamed from her eyes as she glared.

“I will never surrender to you, fool sister.”

Adelia smiled sadly, restricted tears glistening in her eyes as well, and held her hands up. "I'm not going to hurt you, Veronica. I never wanted to hurt you. I never wanted to hurt Zelda or Kathrina either. It… It doesn't have to be this way. You're still my sister. You're welcome here, should you chose it."

“I will never stay here while Light remains. I’m going home, and taking a horse and a cat with me,”Veronica hissed, sniffling.

She stomped away, giving Adelia and Jovie a wide berth. However, just before she left the courtyard, she turned around and threw another scroll at Adelia. This one was a large fireball.

Veronica laughed evilly and ran off. Before the hour passed, a horse was gone from the royal stables, and a calico cat had joined Veronica.

(This feels like the end of CHAPTER I.)

(Lol yeah it does)

Adelia threw her arms up and deflected the fireball away into the sky. Once her sister was out of sight, she collapsed to her knees in exhaustion. Jovie quickly moved beside her for support, still emotional after loosing Reese.

(And yes I know Reese can "come back", but Jovie doesn't.)

(Well, either skipping a few years with the twins separately plotting vengeance. Or something else comes up, what that would be I have no clue. But I know Kathrina is out for blood. Veronica, unsure)
(I’m open to anything though. The ideas I have are rather vague right now)

Adelia strolled through the flowery courtyard, her hands knitted neatly behind her back. Her strawberry blonde hair billowed out behind her thanks to a light breeze, and the sunlight settled on her face in such a way that it lovingly softened her features. She came to a stop at the edge of the cobblestone path and looked out on the grassy area where the palace guard was training. Without thinking, her eyes seemed naturally drawn to the leader of the group.

Jovie still managed to look menacing and feminine at the same time as she led the battalion through an intense series of sword maneuvers. Her hair, which had also grown out longer, was pinned back to make training easier, but a few strands of hair had fallen out and framed her slender face. The two made eye contact, and Jovie turned back to the soldiers to dismiss them before jogging across the lawn to the queen.

"Your Majesty," she said as she approached, sinking into as much of a curtsey as her armor would allow.

Adelia nodded with a subtle smile. "Captain." The promotion of her maid had occurred about 3 weeks after Zelda's attack. Jovie now oversaw the castle's training and recruiting programs for new soldiers while also assisting the queen with her daily duties. Adelia had insisted it was too much, but Jovie had been equally stubborn about accepting the responsibilities of both positions.

"Are you satisfied with our program results so far?" Jovie asked eagerly.

"Yes, the improvements have been wonderful," Adelia agreed.

"Does Reese think so?"

"Why don't you go ask?"

Jovie grinned and raced into the castle towards Reese's room. Adelia watched her go with a sad smile on her lips.

It had been 2 years since Zelda's attack on the castle, and things couldn't have been looking better for the future of the kingdom. Miraculously in those 2 short years, the queen's secret still remained hidden.

But Adelia wasn't sure how much longer she could keep it.

(Fair warning, it’s long. I also put some new things in. If you have any objections, just let me know)

Two years. Two years since the disaster at the castle… and Zelda’s death.

Veronica sighed as she set a black rose on a mound she had built to commemorate Zelda. She stifled her rising tears and returned inside.

She hadn’t seen Kathrina since that battle, though she sensed she was still out there, plotting revenge. Veronica could feel it in her bones, and her heart ached to see her sister. Kathrina was all she had now, and she needed a link to speak with her.

Unfortunately, Zakrith, Kathrina’s ghoul friend, had disappeared days after the disaster. And a week later, the witch coven had moved away as well, leaving Veronica with no one to properly talk to. Though, Veronica often visited the village to play with the men there. So many of them desired her hand, but none would ever get it if Veronica had anything to say about it.

Veronica noted Victor and the calico, Misty, lounging together, and snickered. The two were inseparable, though Victor retained his title as head of the house. And Veronica didn’t mind the occasional litter of kittens, though most of those kittens were feral now. The others lingered around the house, but never came inside.

Veronica headed to her forge, gently touching all of the enchanted weapons she had made in the years of silence. She glanced across the room, to a shelf full of scrolls. Her eyes narrowed.

If she ever returned to the castle, she would bring more than simple spells and two ‘Cleaners’. She now had an arsenal.

Veronica sighed again and moved into a smaller room she had magically built a year ago. In there, a crystal ball sat, awaiting her call. She placed her hands upon the cold crystal, sending her thoughts to the castle and the witch that had started all of this madness. A scowl crossed Veronica’s face with every smile that fell on Adelia’s.

“I may not be the best fighter, but I swear to my vow once more. I will destroy that murdering kid and keep you in my playpen until you beg me to kill you,”Veronica growled.

Kathrina stood over her bubbling cauldron, savoring the sour smell of the poison brewing within. She loved that smell, so much like death.

“Zakrith, dear, have we any newcomers?”she called.

Zakrith, a lumbering grey ghoul with a long and sickly black tongue often hanging from his fanged maw, had just entered the room and gave her his best impression of a smile.

“Twenty new deathly souls have joined our cause, and three more witches have joined the coven. That totals at near two thousand undead and twenty six witches,”the ghoul answered, his lisping voice extra raspy with glee.

“Good. When we hit twenty nine witches, I shall call upon Veronica. Keep gathering undead. The more we have, the better. How have your studies on shadow creatures been going?”Kathrina replied.

“I am still uncertain how Zelda had built her spawn, but I understand much more on rifts to the shadow world. And, I must also report that the miners have discovered another cavern, one with something you will appreciate,”Zakrith commented.

“Oh?”

Zakrith grinned.

“The skeleton of a long dead dragon, previously bound with chains. The soul lingers near, angry and eager.”

Kathrina looked up from her cauldron at that.

“Finally, we’ve found him. Cruhxus the Black,”she breathed.

A grin slowly curved her lips and a loud, maniacal laugh escaped Kathrina. Zakrith’s tongue slipped out, and a low, stuttering growl came from him, his own equivalent to a laugh.

“Come, my dear Zakrith, we must see!”Kathrina bade, quickly rushing from the room.

Zakrith followed, charging behind her. A zombie guarding the room moved to keep watch of the cauldron.

(If you can’t tell, Kathrina is underground, not quite sure where yet, she might be near Adelia’s castle or hundreds of miles away. ‘Deep contemplation’)
