They caught up to Tolkalee and Jackson who had come to a stop in a small sheltered clearing. "This is the spot," Tolkalee said giving Seth a knowing sort of look. "We'll get a small fire going for light so I can see what I'm doing."
They caught up to Tolkalee and Jackson who had come to a stop in a small sheltered clearing. "This is the spot," Tolkalee said giving Seth a knowing sort of look. "We'll get a small fire going for light so I can see what I'm doing."
Jackson spoke “ I can go get wood” he walked to the edge of the clearing and started collecting wood
Kat sat her stuff down “is there anything you need me to do “
Tolkalee looked at her for a moment then looked at what he was doing. "Yeah, come over here so I can redress your previous wound and dress your newer wounds."
She sat down near him and started to pull of the old bandages carefully her injury didn’t hurt nearly as much as it had before as she was dressing her wounds Jackson came back with his arms filled with sticks and branches
Seth began helping Jackson start a fire as Tolkalee continued getting his medical supplies together. Then he walked over to Kat and started cleaning her open wounds while she continued pulling off the old bandages.
It was completely silent except for the crickets in the area as the fire started to glow the area around them illuminated. kat started to bandage the wounds Tolkalee had cleaned
At one point Tolkalee flinched, when he moved his arm. He still had the broken end of and arrow still buried in his shoulder. Seth was over by the fire getting it going but he'd seen Tolkalee flinch.
Kat noticed him flinch “are you okay?”
Tolkalee looked up from what he was doing. "Hm? Oh, yeah, I'll be fine. But I am going to ask how you are dealing with open wounds."
She answered “I don’t seem to have to many open wounds , if anything I mainly have bruises”
"No I mean how are with blood," Tolkalee turned to show her the broken arrow in his shoulder. Because it was broken only about an inch was visible out of his shoulder. "Two hands are required to get this out, I can only use one of mine. I'm going to require your help."
“Oh yeah I can help, so what do you want me to do”
"I need you to help me remove this," he explained. "And it's not going to be really easy either."
“Okay” she got positioned
Tolkalee picked up a cloth that he had next to him and relaxed his injured arm. "Once you're ready don't give me any warning just pull the arrow out," he explained. Behind him, Seth shifted and slowly went to his feet. He had his eyes on Tolkalee.
"Oh boy," Seth's voice was only loud enough for Jackson to hear him.
Kat quickly pulled it out with our moving her hand in a direction that would cause more damage she dropped the bloodied arrow “are you okay?”
The second Kat pulled the arrow, Seth launched forward catching Tolkalee's arm and pulling him back trapping him on the ground. Tolkalee let out a cry of pain, then took a breath and tapped Seth's legs that had him in an arm bar. "Thanks," he briefly said to Seth before pressing the cloth to his shoulder.
“Do you need water for the wound” Jackson said urgently
Tolkalee sat up and shook his head, pressing harder on the wound. "No, water risks infecting it, despite how clean it may look," he glanced at Kat. "Thanks," Seth pat him on the shoulder and stood up. "I probably should have warned you, that the two of us have had fighting ingrained into us, so sudden pain can be dangerous for others. I don't know if you saw, but Seth had to stop me from accidentally hurting you, which is why he locked me in an arm bar. You did nothing wrong, it's just sort of the way we have been trained."
Jackson nodded “well do we have any other food?”
Kat spoke “I have some bread but that’s it” she looked over at Seth “do you two have anything?”
Seth walked over to his back pack and pulled out something that was wrapped up neatly. He unwrapped it to reveal some meat that he'd taken off the deer before Kara had attacked. "I have this."
Jackson spoke “great we will probably have enough food for everyone” Jackson grabbed a stick and stabbed it through the meat and slowly cooked it.
kat passed out bread to everyone as Jackson was cooking
Tolkalee had pulled his shirt off and was slowly stitching up his shoulder wound. Seth was sitting down near him and they were talking. He was trying to keep Tolk's mind off the pain as he stitched up the wound.
Jackson just waited silently and watched the buellette rolling around in the grass playfully
"Do you have a name for em'?" Tolkalee asked looking at the small creature as it played.
