She shook her head, laughter bubbling up. "Hmm…I don't know. What's in it for me, huh?"
She shook her head, laughter bubbling up. "Hmm…I don't know. What's in it for me, huh?"
"Uhhh," he tilted his head as if in thought. "A second kiss? I don't know, shouldn't that be enough?"
She pretended to mull it over, before standing on her toes to press a kiss to his cheek. "Like that?"
Klaus squinted his eyes at Peggy. "You're not gonna get me to beg."
"You're gonna have to at least explain what you're expecting." Peggy said, raising an eyebrow. "Actual kiss?"
"Yes," he said, rolling his eyes. "And actual kiss would be wonderful."
"Alright, alright. Grumpy." She tugged his shirt to pull him down just enough to kiss him, gently pressing her lips against his.
(We've written so much and the main villain hasn't even appeared yet imao)
A phone buzzing cut the kiss short as Klaus grumbled, pulling away regretfully and sliding his hand into his pocket. "It's my mom," he said as he turned on the phone. A quick glace at the contents of the text made his heart go cold and his face drain of color. "Oh. Shit."
(He's gonna go fight his dad real quick)
((skskks that's right, there was a point to this))
Peggy's brows furrowed in concern, and she reached out her good hand to tap his arm. "Klaus? What's wrong?"
He looked up at her, his eyes crazy with fear. "My dad. He showed up to Mom's." Without hesitation, Klaus ripped off the sling from his left hand and ran towards a window, Amity already forming that signature mask over his face.
"Woah, woah-Klaus!" Peggy took a few steps towards the window, shaking her head. "You have to stop and think for a second! You can't just run into this fight!"
He attempted to push past her, obviously not trying to that hard. "He's gonna hurt her, Peggy. I can't let that happen!"
(OOooh, I know we had this whole puppet idea, but what if Carnage is the main villain? Like, kills his mom or something, and they go on a war campaign to go fuck him up)
((ooohhh, I likey. Angst.))
"And if you go barging in there like this, alone, you're going to get her killed." She rationalized, her suit forming. "Your main focus is your mom, all right? Getting her out, safe, and then dealing with other things."
"Yes, yes-yeah," he said, very clearly freaking out. "We need to go. Now." He flipped the locks on each side of the window and slid it open as fast as he could, leaping out into the gap and shooting a web towards East Side.
Sorry, mom. She thought to herself, hopping out the window and activating her slightly busted jets. She'd never gotten the chance to fix them up, but there wasn't time for that. She caught up to Klaus easily, flying above him.
They reached the roof of an apartment building in 5 minutes flat. Klaus didn't even bother with opening the door that led to the sairwell, opting instead to kick the damn thing off its hinges. He took the steps 4 at a time going down, stopping at the 5th floor and sprinting down the hall to room 24. Its door was closed and look uncscaved. Yet, his body refused to walk any further. He was rooted to the spot in fear of what he'd find inside.
Peggy deactivated the jets to land next to him, biting her bottom lip. She placed a hand hesitantly on his shoulder, letting her helmet pull away from her face to look at him. "Do you want me to go in first?" She asked quietly, eyebrows drawn down into a frown.
It took Klaus a moment to process what she said. Once he did, he nodded once, an almost numb motion.
Peggy gave him a weak smile, releasing his shoulder to step towards the door. She turned the handle slowly, to keep it from making too much noise, and stepped inside the apartment.
Inside was absolute chaos. Clothing was thrown everywhere, furnature shattered on the floor, and the wallpaper torn to shreds with multiple scratches and dents. A single pair of legs poked out from the pile of rubble, right next to a scarily large puddle of blood.
Peggy stifled a small gasp by pressing her hand to her mouth, making her way further into the apartment. She'd seen plenty of gruesome things, and never felt the need to throw up, but something about this was different. She swallowed, forcing herself to keep going, towards the blood, the legs.
Nothing moved inside of the apartment. It was as still as a city after a devestaing hurricane hit.
She let her suit disassemble, picking through the chaos. She surveyed the room as she did, a growing feeling of dread knotting in her gut.
At the bottom of the pile was who was presumably Klaus's mom….or what was left of her. It was like a wild animal had knawed at her body for two days before they had found her.
The smell was overwhelming, and Peggy was on the verge of losing the contents of her stomach. She almost turned and left, but crouched, assembling the suit over her hands to clear some of the rubble away, like that would fix things. It didn't. Taking one last look around the apartment, she shook her head, heading back out into the hall.
