"It's kinda cute, I must admit," he said, winking at her.
"It's kinda cute, I must admit," he said, winking at her.
"What, me stabbing a waterbed, or me looking like a tomato?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
He tilted his head in thought, then shrugged. "Bit of both, I guess."
"You're weird, y'know that?" The corner of her mouth quirked up into a fond half smile, despite her words.
"And how is that?" he asked, squinting down at her.
"You actually think all my bullshit is cute, for starters." She scrunched up her nose, resting her head on his chest once again.
"I think a lot more would if you'd let yourself get close to them," he pointed out.
"Every single time ends horribly. So I stick to not, instead. Count yourself lucky." She muttered.
"I promise they've ended up better than mine," he said, shaking his head.
"While that makes me feel a bit better, it makes me feel worse for you." Her brows furrowed as she looked up at him.
"It doesn't matter. Their feelings don't matter to me." He pulled a face. Probably wasn't the best thing to say.
She blinked, her face quickly becoming more closed off than it had been. "Huh." Was all she said, sighing through her nose as she looked out at the lab.
"It's the truth," he said with a shrug. "I can't really help it."
"I should let you sleep." She said after a few moments of silence, debating getting up.
Klaus let out a sigh through his nose and nodded. I told you things would end up this way, Peggy.
"I probably should, yeah."
"You nap. I'll go work on that suit." Peggy said, shooting him a small smile. She pressed a kiss to his cheek, almost hesitantly, before standing from the couch.
"Have fun," he called after her, rolling on his side and frowning to himself. Today ended up worse than he could've ever imagined.
You're too oversensitive. He wasn't making a dig at you. She tried to remind herself, clapping twice to get Adam to lower the lights a bit, casting a look in Klaus's direction as she set to work with the suit.
His back was facing her, and his arms were crossed around his stomach. He looked peaceful enough, but it was obvious he wasn't asleep.
She sighed sadly, turning back to the suit as she tugged a hand through her hair. This was a mess, and she couldn't do anything to fix it.
