He let out a soft laugh, "She always likes that game."
He let out a soft laugh, "She always likes that game."
"Um, sir, if you don't mind my asking, did you know Silverbrook well?"
He lifted his head and motioned to Winter who left the den, "Silverbrook, once know as Silver was my daughter."
"Really? You mean, she lived here?"
"No, not here, she lived in the heart of the two leg place when she was a kit. Her mother, Clover, lived the life as a Guardian Cat and taught her everything about herbs. Silver left at a young age to the forest, I never saw her again, but her brother, Blaze, he comes around here every moon to check up on me."
"That's nice of him… Silverbrook was very helpful, if that brings you any comfort, sir. As a kit, I loved to go to the medicine den just to see her at work."
"Was she happy? Did she find a mate? A good one?"
"She was happy, but she never took on a mate. It's forbidden for medicine cats to do so. However, if she hadn't become a medicine cat, Jaysong would have been her mate."
"Is Jaysong a good cat? I hope he isn't stupid."
"He can be a bit clueless at times, but overall a fine cat. He was devastated at the news of her death. Despite the fact that they could never be together, he still loved her, sir, and frequently visited the medicine den to see her.
"So a stalker? I would have never allowed that even if I new knew where she lived…" Walking to the den and looking out, he asked, "You're staying here, Ashpaw, you were taught by Finchsong who was mentored by my daughter, I know her knowledge is in you and you can help restore my clan's health."
Oh, no… I'm stuck here! "Y-Yes, sir." He bowed his head slightly, his leg exhausted from him having to hold it up.
"Winter, take him back to your den," Blizzard commanded, looking at the unseen cat that was outside his den.
"Yes sir." She said, walking past him, she took her place by Ashpaw and pushed him up, "C'mon Ashpaw, we have work to do."
"Yes, ma'am…" Ashpaw sighed before limping after Winter. Will I ever get out of this place?
"We have a busy day Ashpaw!" Winter purred, "We have Lyon and Cliff to take care of. I'll show you them later, you first should eat."
"Alright. What all do I have to do? Do you guys have the proper herbs and such?"
"Yes, well there 'proper' herbs for me, I'm the healer!"
"Well, you might have different things than I'm used to. For open wounds, you need cobwebs and such to stop bleeding, poppy seeds for pain, marigold, chervil, and other things. Not all of that would be used for that kind of injury, though."
"I know all that." She said lightheartedly, "We have tons of herbs at this part of the woods! And the two-legs supply us with it all! There's one den who has a whole gardenful of herbs! It's wonderful!"
"Alright then… do you know whether I'll ever get to go home?" Ashpaw looked up at Winter hopefully. "My mother has lost all of her kits, as of now. My sister killed my brother and her whereabouts are currently unknown, and I'm here. I'm probably presumed dead as well."
"Did you eve listen to a word Blizzard said? You cant leave! We need you!"
"But I thought you were the healer? Lilypetal's the only one back at my camp, and she's inexperienced. Finchsong trusted me to take care of the clan."
"Blizzard thinks I have the knowledge of a kit, your mentor was mentored by his daughter so he wants you to stay."
"…Fine…" Ashpaw kept limping along. "Where's your medicine den?"
"The den you woke up in of course." She said, walking over to the wooden crate, "Go rest inside while I get you some food."
