”Unnecessary?” Oh please, it was necessary.”
She sighed and continued.
“Number One: His excessive cursing. Honestly, he curses in almost every single sentence.” That’s stupid and annoying.” She mumbled under her breath.
Number Two: He’s a rat, for clowns sakes!”
"So there was no reason to stab him at all," Mike concluded dryly. "I should have guessed. Are we all going to stand around arguing all day, or what? We're not really getting much done here."
"Yes, we should help the poor guy out already. And plus; rats are great." Angel frowned, looking back to Zach.
“I don’t like the mouse man,” said Neirym, “but your criteria for killing him is pathetic. Heal him somebody. We can split the ghost slaves.”
"Exactly….Oh!" Actinolite piped up, "Angel, you can use your sword to cauterize the wound."
"That makes sense." Angel replied, reaching her hand over her shoulder.
Zach looked at everyone and absorbed the information… especially the fact that someone f–king stabbed him just because he swore? But he listened out for Angel and Mike and they wanted to help him? He didn't know what to say to this. He scared, really scared, with his large wound disabling him from moving or even talking well. He decided not to talk to make sure no more gas was taken in, but he looked at Angel and Mike with pleading eyes. What the heck was he going to say to them afterwards?
Suddenly, the ground in the middle rumbled again, and cracks popped out onto the floor. One by one, the earthquake made big, gaping holes in the ground, and out rose eerie, cold spirits from the ground. Many of them took on the form they looked when they died, animals and humans with clothes and styled hair, some with serious stab wounds visible. But some ghosts were mixed. One took on the appearance between a kangaroo and a ladybug, another wore an angel mask and a monkeys tail, and another particularly big one looked to be a rhino, but had cat-like eyes, sharp fangs and limbs replaced with candles. Zach looked up with pure excitement. Finally, where have they been! He needed to command them fast, before their emotions led them elsewhere.
But the gas made it impossible for him to talk, and soon the ghosts were looking at scene in shock. They all let out an ear-piercing scream, then ran towards the people of the mansion, faces melting and fangs showing. Oh shit, what do I do? He decided to test his luck.
'GET RID OF THE GAS' he yelled, 'OR YOU'LL ALL BE CURSED. I NEED TO COMMAND THEM.' Then he turned into a coughing, screeching fit, smiling like all hell.
"It be better if we let it take it's course. It'll disappear in 10 hours, but if all of you really want to die, I'll gadly get rid of it."
Neirym let out a loud noise of frustration. He snapped his fingers and the rat man’s wound glowed. He snapped again and again and it started to close, albeit slowly. “Not very good at healing magic,” he muttered, “someone else should finish the job.” He turned to see a fanged ghost looking at him angrily. “Hello precious,” he purred, “you’re mine now.” He gave another snap and the ghost’s eyes gleamed.
Angel squealed in fear, wrapping herself in Actinolite’s cape like it was the only way she could survive. Actinolite didn’t even seem to be fazed by this, she just stared at the ghosts as if they were as frightening as a chicken while mentally sipping tea.
Black Spades didn’t even flinch as one of the ghost came to her. She just shooed the ghost away and sighed. “Who’s responsible for summoning the ghosts?”
“It’s alright,” Neirym said, capturing another ghost. “Give them all to me if you need to.”
Black Spades looked absolutely confused. “Wait, What?”
“The ghosts,” he said impatiently. I want them.”
'What? Mate, no you can't do that, you haven't manipulated them in life yet. I can give them to you instead, though, not only because you're a lord, but also because you healed me.' Zach looked at the ghosts in fear, but they all seemed fine, the possessing trick only having worked for a moment. They floated around, screeching and possessing the swords hung up everywhere. One even took to the throne and yanked it from it's screwed in place, and floated around towards and from each and every person. Another one transformed into a Godzilla like monster, and possessed multiple objects at once and picked up one of the random people in the mansion.
'…We'll need to calm them down first.' But Zach was feeling rather impressed. The gas was still everywhere, but the ghosts seemed immune to it. Maybe because the gas only worked on physical forms? But ghost's were made of air… dimensional loophole? He still coughed and giggled at times, but even his effects seemed to be decreasing.
'Okay, since I manipulated them, they react to gore badly too. The stab wound is healed, but there's still blood and vomit everywhere, it's needs to be cleaned quickly.'
She groaned and looked at the blood. “Rat Blood. Bat Blood.”
“Are you okay?!” Angel cried out, glad to see that Zach was still alive. She ran over to him and tried to lead him closer to Actinolite.
It was clear that she thought Actinolite was some sort of guardian to her.
It was also clear that she was terrified of the attacking ghosts, her arms were starting to melt, but she was trying to keep it together.
Mike glanced around and found the door he'd previously come through, then tugged it open. The storm outside was reaching its peak, and the steep, dark slope seemed to have flooded. A small wave of water rushed into the room along with a howling wind, starting to clean up the mess on the floor. That done, Mike waded through the water and dragged Zach upright so he wouldn't get too soaked. "There. Can you take care of the ghosts now?"
'Ugh…oh my goodness…' Zach was short of breath, but he found himself strung in the arms of two others. He looked back at them, then the ghosts, then the water that trickled in. Once he saw the water washing the mess, he soon stood up on his own, and looked straight at the ghosts.
'UMANA TO BEJIS ONII HAMUN HUAIO, BECOME STILL!' At this loud command, the ghosts froze, then turned towards him in a soldier-like style. Their eyes glowed a bright blue, all possessions dropping onto the floor and smashing the ground even more. They stayed completely still, though bobbing a bit for they were made of rather buoyant gases. But Zach looked around to still see the poison swirling around, so he commanded the ghosts to back away. He took in a short breath away from the smog, and then smiled up at the ghosts. Power, at last. But he knew what he promised to the overlord. Zach pissed off this guy too much, so he needed to make amends.
'Hey, Neirym, sire,' he called out, 'which one do you want? All can transform into powerful beings, but it's probably better to get the bigger ones…' He pleadingly looked at the god, hoping that this didn't f–k up again.
For the first time Neirym looked truly pleased. “Tell me Zachary,” he asked, “which ones are the best, and please do tell me why.”
“Oh, come on, we didn’t even get to kill anyone!” Actinolite growled, looking absolutely disgusted by this.
'Uhhh okay ummm the most powerful ones are the scared and sad ones, preferably a child who suffered a horrible death, they're really willing.' He was at first a bit nervous, but then Neiryms expression told him that he was genuinely happy about this trade. 'But the only problem is that the children are small… might I recommend one of the mixed-up ones? Their spirits have been corrupted on the way to the resting place… where dead people go to sleep for a bit of time, then get re-incarcerated, but like, if you mess around with the supernatural abilities, then you can first manipulate a person in real life, then force them to become ghosts when they die… I messed with a few of them, but that makes them stronger, you know?'
Neirym waved him on, the smile still on his face as if he had received a surprise birthday present. “Which ones are the largest? Or perhaps the most terrifying?”
'I'll say… that one.' He pointed at the rhino ghost, showing off his fangs while his mouth was closed. 'He's big and buff and all, but the fangs will certainly do a lot of damage. If you don't like the candle legs, you can command them to change into normal feet or something more your style. All ghosts change form, just might take up some air when they get bigger then average.'
Neirym considered for a second before nodding. “It’s a deal.”
