Avirex glances back at GLaDOS, but doesn’t say anything. They didn’t need to explain themselves.
They look up at the other much-taller-than-normal-tall person and approach him. They extend their hand to him. This must be Avirex’s form of a greeting.
Lili moves a bit closer to Daphne and extends a hand as if she were going to touch her shoulder, but then decides against it. She was worried.
At least the explosions didn’t last that long. But she didn’t want to go back out there either.
GLaDOS looks disgruntled at the lack of a response from Avirex. She stares at the newcomers, particularly interested in the small, hyperactive one. She’s slightly caught off guard when the other one asks for her name. My name? Nobody’s asked that in a while. Normally it’s just ‘What are you?’ That’s much easier to answer. “My name is… GLaDOS.” She had hesitated for a moment, as if she was about to say something else.
Daphne slowly brings her hands back to her sides, still staring at the door. Can I just- stay in here? Where there aren’t any creepy metal people or explosions? She takes a few deep breaths to try and calm herself down, glancing over at Lili.
Osir chuckles.
He's met far stranger beings than GLaDOS. A bio-technological entity from another plane of existance was just another Miradas for him.
"Duke Osir Iluna. I am at your service, m'lady," he says with a bow, taking one of GLaDOS' hands and touching the back of it to the mouth area of his mask with a low chuckle.
Arezias gags, loudly, interrupting this interaction with their usual chaotic energy.
(processing)
(Avirex was the one that extended their hand not GLaDOS-)
(I know- I'm also stupid and am going to say Avirex is too short for tall skrunkly emo man to notice because haha funny-)
(sigh)
(Why did I check notebook at 3 AM when I can't sleep)
(The skrunk? The scribble?)
(Also sorry for short response)
GLaDOS stares at Osir curiously. She starts to speak again, but is interrupted by Arezias gagging. She looks at them with an unamused expression. “Is something bothering you, little creature?” She asks.
Avirex narrowed their eyes at Osir. Apparently, common courtesy was lost on them. But they didn't really feel like getting their hand touched like that either.
So instead, they jumped up and tapped Osir's hand with their own after Arezias interrupted him and GLaDOS. Their name echoed in his mind after they did. It was unclear whether it was telepathy or some sort of other magic.
Now that Avirex could be seen and heard by Osir, they made the effort to glare at him and say something. "If you are going to ask for introductions, at the very least pay attention to everyone giving them."
Lili looked over at Daphne and then back at the door. She didn't feel like leaving any time soon. But there was something itching in her mind that she felt that she should say out loud.
"I don't- I don't think we're on Kaelum anymore." There was a hint of fear in her voice. If they weren't on their home planet, where were they? Maybe they didn't want to know, given the unfamiliar peoples. But there was also a skykid…
Arezias snickers.
"Nuthin' at all," they reply.
Common courtesy in Osir's world was far different from common courtesy in anyone else's world.
"I was going to introduce myself to you next, child. Wait your turn while the adults are talking," Osir says. The mask concealed all facial expressions, but it was clear there was a dangerous smile lurking just behind the mask as he spoke.
They turn away from Avirex and look at the other people.
"So. Would you not-quite-humans happen to have names?" he asks.
GLaDOS narrows her eyes at Arezias. “Strange little creature.” She glances at Avirex as Osir speaks to them. She stays still for a few more moments before walking away, lightly patting Avirex on the head as she leaves. No point in staying any longer.
Daphne huffs at Lili. “Yeah, I kinda guessed that.” She winces slightly. That was aggressive. “…Sorry.” She looks down, then looks back up at Lili. “The question is… how are we gonna get back?”
Avirex raises a brow at Osir. "I may seem young, but I am older than most here. Do not let appearances fool you." And for such a small thing, they sounded anything but afraid talking to one such as Osir.
They lower their head slightly when GLaDOS pats it, but inevitably it did nothing to stop her. They watch GLaDOS leave and consider following her. But then they look to the door Daphne and Lili were hiding behind.
Lili looks at Daphne sympathetically. She sits on the edge of the bed and sighs. "I don't know if we can."
And then there was a knock on the door before Avirex poked their head in. They were, of course, still greyed out to the two of them. But in usual skykids fashion they didn't know many boundaries. Or they knew and didn't really care.
"And? I am the oldest here," Osir shrugs. "It matters not to me if you are one of the oldest, since you are still a child to me."
Arezias grins at GLaDOS.
"I'm not a creature. I'm Arezias," they counter.
(By that logic, he flirted with a robot child.)
(Osir's a demon from the bottom layer of hell he could not care less- he is one of the worst people here.)
GLaDOS looks over her shoulder at Arezias as she leaves. “There’s no difference.” She turns a corner and disappears down the next hallway.
Daphne stares at Lili for a few moments, furrowing her brow slightly. But there has to be a way to get back home. She shakes her head slightly and sits down on the floor next to the bed, crossing her legs. She looks up as Avirex pokes their head in the door. “Well, hi-“
Lili looks up at Avirex as they open the door. Oh, yay, the skykid. Maybe I should have locked the door. She watches as they get closer and again extend their hand in greeting, this time to Daphne.
Avirex looked between the two of them and then went inside the room, keeping the door cracked open. They decided to go to Daphne first, because she was on the floor. Closer down to them.
Daphne stares at Avirex as they approach her. When they hold out their hand to her, she for a moment, then quickly taps Avirex’s hand, hoping that would be enough for them.
GLaDOS makes her way down a flight of stairs, looking around at the next room she enters. It’s a kitchen, with a door near the corner that she could only assume leads to a pantry. Interesting. I guess these creatures still need sustenance to live.
The kitchen leads to a sitting area, with more than enough seats for everyone there. There was a door on the opposite wall, and considering the fact that sunlight is filtering through its small window, that door leads outside.
GLaDOS walks over to the door and opens it, poking her head outside. She feels the warmth of the sunlight hitting her face and closes her eyes for a moment. This feels nice after being in a cold facility for so long. She opens her eyes again and walks outside, closing the door behind her. After wandering for a bit, she sits down on the ground next to a tree, watching her surroundings carefully.
Avirex gives Daphne a small nod after she taps their hand. They look over at Lili and hold their hand out to her, giving her the same gesture when she takes their hand.
They turn to leave, but hesitate. They glance back at Daphne and speak. "There's never always a way out. But do remain hopeful. Perhaps there is here."
And then they leave the room, back into the hallway. They look at Osir and Arezias once again, debating whether or not they wanted to be illuminated by the smaller one. Osir wasn't the best choice, and they had known that. They were just impatient. They would have to work on that. Though they never got around to it for the past… ugh, they never kept track anyway.
(Hey, I’m just gonna close this now, since I don’t think we need any more chaos lmao. Stubs, you still have a spot for whenever you feel like jumping in ^^)
(Sorry, but no. As I said above and in the title, I just closed this.)
