@MarDeColores this is not it kids
"I see. Well, in that case… Come on," Miran said, waving her over with a smile. "We'd best be going before the teacher comes back. Otherwise, we'll never get to leave."
"I see. Well, in that case… Come on," Miran said, waving her over with a smile. "We'd best be going before the teacher comes back. Otherwise, we'll never get to leave."
"Yeah, all right then," Gracie quickened her pace to catch up with Miran.
Kai had completely spaced out, so was unaware that Gracie was even with them until he heard her voice. "Oh? I would have thought you would be the one to play by the rules and stay in class."
"I want to keep my friends safe!" she explained. It didn't matter how long she'd known them at this point. She wanted to keep them safe.
"Well isn't that cute." Kai chuckled, catching up to his other friends. They all seemed to be heading down the corridor towards the exit.
"This is a mad idea." Alexis grumbled, keeping his eyes low to the ground.
Opal giggled, twirling a lock of hair around her finger. "It is, but it's a brilliant idea."
"It's also a dangerous idea!" Gracie added, not really worried about herself, or her safety, but about her new friends.
"Don't be such a square." Opal sighed, smiling lightly at Gracie with twinkling eyes. "You have a nice horse by the way."
"Focus." Kai poked Opal's shoulder, tutting. "We need to get out of here unnoticed. Anyone actually know how we are going to do that?"
All of his band members looked away, mindlessly inspecting bits of lint on their clothing. Great, no one had a plan. He turned to Miran and Gracie with a tired smile. "Any ideas?"
"Umm… no?" Gracie smiled sheepishly. "But thanks," she returned Opal's smile. "This is Etta," she introduced, giving her a small scratch on the neck.
"Let's see, ideas to get out of the school… You do realize you're asking the new kid?" Miran grinned. "But I would try and find a side door that isn't alarmed. You guys know any of those?" He asked, looking at Kai's friends.
"I mean, I'm pretty sure the main door isn't alarmed, and neither are most of the side doors. I think it's mostly just the fire exit doors and whatnot," Gracie shrugged.
"They will have someone keeping a watch on the main door," Kai pointed out. "So I don't think we would be able get out that way."
September finally spoke up, blowing a bubble with her gum. "There's a door by the caretaker's cupboard in the east hall, it leads into the little alleyway behind the school."
"That sounds perfect." Miran nodded . "Lead the way, people who know where they're going!" He leaned towards Kai and whispered, "I kinda feel like we're in a spy movie."
"Alright then, we'll take that door. But what will we do once we get out of the building?" Gracie asked. She liked to be prepared.
"Go home." Kai shrugged. "That's what I want to do."
Alexis thumped him around the back of the head. "You realise that they will be making sure no one is on the street, right?"
"Stop being such a square!" Opal glared dully at Alexis, crossing her arms over her chest. "I think we should go to the tree."
"The… tree?" Miran asked, his eyes flitting between Kai, Alexis, and Opal. "Is that some sort of super-secret, members-only, exclusive clubhouse? 'Cause that's what it sounds like."
(boop)
"Perhaps," Gracie mused. "It sure sounds like it."
"Could you tell us? Or do we need to be part of a super-secret club to go to the super-secret clubhouse?" Miran asked, tilting his head to one side.
(This person shall reply in the morning as they need to be awake in 7 hours. Sorry for any inconveniences)
(Oh, okay! Take your time!)
(boop… sorry)
"Weeeeeeeell…" Alexis seemed to be hesitating on whether or not they should tell Miran and Gracie about the tree.
"Basically!" Opal completely disregarded anything Alexis had said. "The tree is a massive tree on the hill that sits near all our houses. Like literally, it's slap bang in the middle. We got our dads to build like this house up in the tree, and we've used it as our den since we were kids."
"It sounds cringey when you put it like that." September sighed, fiddling with the hem of her jacket.
Kai waved it off and smiled. "Come on, if we go there then we can see if a flood comes. And we'll be safe since it's on a hill."
"Oh, a treehouse?" Miran gasped, his eyes sparkling. "I love treehouses!" He grinned at Kai. "And even better, it's on a hill!" Miran realized he was being a little loud for sneaking out and took a calming breath. "Alright, let's go."
"Did I hear… treehouse?" Gracie asked. "Aaaaah I love those! I just have never gotten a chance to see one in real life!"
"Well, now's your chance," Miran said happily. "To tell you the truth, I really haven't either. Well, I've seen one, but never actually gotten to go inside it or anything."
