@MarDeColores this is not it kids
(Yeah, fine by me)
(Yeah, fine by me)
(Alright then)
The next day as school, the kids were trapped inside the school because of an incoming flood.
(Idk I'm trying to stir up drama)
"Ugh, this is so annoying," Gracie complained, setting a hand on Etta's mane.
"I still don't get why they just didn't let us go home!" Miran moaned, leaning over the back of the chair. "I mean, we're probably going to have to stay here for the entire day. And maybe even the night, if our luck really sucks." He looked up and wrinkled his nose. "Just let us go home," Miran whispered, glaring at the nearest teacher.
"I mean, someone did say something about a flood, so…" she tried to come up with a valid explanation, a carrot in her free hand which Etta was eating… messily.
"I guess." Miran sighed and closed his eyes. "They probably don't want people on the roads, getting stuck and needing saving." He looked over at Kai. "What do you think about this?"
(Teon?)
Kai shot up, as he realised he was being spoken to. He hadn't slept a wink that night due to Max being his usual self. The two of them sat next to each other, practically falling asleep on each other. He ran his fingers through his hair, shaking it out as if that was supposed to wake him up. "Sorry?" his voice was deep, slurred. "What do I think of what?"
(I was writing about a different character at the time and forgot the right name… sorry)
"Them keeping us in school instead of just letting us leave." Miran looked at Kai worriedly. "Are you alright? You kinda look… dead, basically."
"I mean, Miran has a point," Gracie agreed, holding up her hands apologetically. "It's true, you do look dead inside."
"The drowned rat looks dead inside and out." Oscar chuckled as he approached the trio. His hair was disheveled, like he had partaken in a shock experiment in the science labs, but his cold brown eyes were still as judgmental as ever. He stared at the two sleepy boys, tutting slightly before turning his head towards Gracie. Something of a gentle expression formed on his features. "Did uhm… Did you get the homework for Math? I wasn't in that lesson."
"Math? Um, well, I think it was the worksheet that the teacher handed out…" Gracie fumbled around in her backpack by her side for a bit, and then looked up. "Crap, I think I lost it… sorry…" she gave an apologetic expression.
"Useless…" Oscar mumbled, his eyes drooping slightly as he turned away, bumping into someone. "Sorry." he quickly spluttered, glancing at Gracie before scrambling back to where his friends sat.
"Well," Kai finally spoke, leaning in towards Gracie. "That was awkward."
"Um, yeah, very awkward indeed. So, uh, I got a phone yesterday… did you want to exchange numbers or something?" she pulled out a phone with a blue-pink ombre phone case.
"Can do.." Kai unlocked his phone, sliding it in front of Gracie so she could take his contact details. He couldn't see the small numbers on the screen.
Max shot up, almost knocking heads with Kai. He grumbled something about water before realising he was in the presence of others. "Why are we here? Didn't school finish ages ago?"
"They're keeping us here. Flood thing," Miran said angrily, staring at a point in the distance. "I don't know why they won't just let us leave." He glanced at Kai, then at Gracie, then at Max, then back to Kai. His eyes lingered on Kai for a few seconds before he looked away, eyes stormy.
"At least we're together." Max said dreamily, pretending to flirt with Kai.
"Bro we've been together since 5PM last night. After what you did I think I'm more likely to let Oscar stay round." The boy shook his head, flicking Max's ear. "Joking." he turned to look at Miran, smiling sleepily. "I think it's safer that they keep us here, together, where we're more likely to be safe. It's easy on my own mind too because then I'm not worried as to whether you're safe or not."
"Well, when you put it that way," Miran shrugged and gave Kai a smile that was both grateful and sad, "I guess it's nice to know you're not drowning or lost or something."
The teacher announced that she would be leaving the room to find out when the coast was clear for the students to leave, The moment she was out of the door, Kai's friends gathered their things and made their way to the door. September shot him a glance as if to ask 'Are you coming or what?'
Kai's eyes drifted between his friends and Miran. "Hey," he whispered. "fancy getting out of here?"
"Oh, yeah. It's too stuffy in here." Miran nodded and grabbed his backpack. "Where would we go?" He asked, glancing towards the door the teacher exited from.
"Anywhere away from here." Kai mumbled, glancing around at the classroom of people he didn't exactly like. Sure, some of them were nice when he had something they wanted, but for the most part he tended to avoid them. "I need the walk anyway, might wake me up."
He took Miran's hand, ignoring the suspicious glances he received from various classmates, and pulled him out of the room and towards where his friends were waiting in the corridor. "Shall we go?"
"I'm just going to thank you right now. And probably later, but this is going to be the big one." Miran grinned, squeezing Kai's hand. "Thank you." He glanced over his shoulder at the rest of the classroom, then looked at Kai and gave him a thankful smile.
(I'm super sorry guys, I came down with a migraine the other night.)
"Can do.." Kai unlocked his phone, sliding it in front of Gracie so she could take his contact details. He couldn't see the small numbers on the screen.
Gracie saved his contact info and got up. "Hey, what are you doing? It's like, flooding out there!" she whispered frantically.
"It doesn't look like it's flooding outside," Miran whispered back. "We probably won't even get our feet wet." He shrugged and gave her a small wave. "We'll be fine. The school's probably overreacting, anyways. They always do."
"Hold on a minute," she reached out and took his arm. "If you're going to go out there, I'm going to go to. You can't just go out there and expect me to be fine with it. It's a flood warning."
"Key word 'warning'." Miran retorted. "And, I mean, I'm fine with you coming, but you might want to ask Kai. It's his idea." He said, still holding on to Kai's hand.
"Fine, fine," Gracie sighed. She might not've known Miran and Kai for long, but she did know that she didn't want either of them to die. "Look, but whether or not he says yes, I'm coming. I don't want to hear news of your deaths by drowning knowing I could'nt've done anything about it."
