She leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. "You're not going to sleep if I don't join you, are you?"
She leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. "You're not going to sleep if I don't join you, are you?"
"Prooooobably not."
She sighed and entered the room, leaning against the bed with her face hovering over Runner.
"Yeeeees?" he asked, smiling.
"Only until you fall asleep. Got it?"
"Of course." He opened his arms out.
She crawled into the bed, settling herself against him with her back to him.
"Oh, it's like that?" he asked.
"Be happy I'm here at all." She scooted closer though.
He rolled his eyes. "If you don't wanna stay you don't have to."
She turned to face him. Her gold eyes were bright in the darkness. "Better?"
He smiled. "Yes, it is." He nuzzled his head into his pillow.
She smiled and tucked her arms under her head.
His eyes began to flutter slightly as he tried to stay awake.
She rubbed his arm soothingly, humming a lullaby.
"N-no…." he mumbled out. "Gotta stay….wake…"
She lightly kissed his cheek, lowly singing the lullaby.
"Mhmmmmm," he whined, his eyes closing.
"Sleep," she whispered.
"No…." he trailed off.
She continued to lull him to sleep until she was sure he wouldn't wake up again.
He snored lightly, looking content.
She kissed his forehead and made to move away.
He stirred slightly, but he never fully woke up.
"I'm sorry," she whispered. "But I have to do something." She pulled back a little, waiting for him to stir again.
