She lurched up, glaring at him with misty eyes. "I'm not being an idiot this time, Runner! Why else would criminals leave their den and be blocks from my house!? Why would they leave the only place the King and Queen allow them to run amok? Why?" Her voice cracked.
He flinched at her shouting, rubbing his face. "It's not that bad, Tess. I've been hurt worse."
"You were half dead on my couch!"
The male finished his cereal and approached them, pulling Tessa up. "Tessie." She whirled on him. He didn't back down. "C'mon. Blow off some steam."
Her nostrils flared, but she bit out, "Fine."
He nodded and walked farther into the house.
"It was my fault for not noticing the idiots trailing me for a half hour."
((Sorry, my mom was talking to me about a summer school program. Wanted to see if I was sure I didn't want to chicken out))
She sighed, defeated, and turned to Runner. "Just… be careful next time."
He nodded. "Yeah, of course." He fully sat up, putting a hand on his side. "Any clue when I can get up and start moving again?"
She gently pushed him back down. "Not now, that's for sure. I'm going to go spar with Zeus. You, stay here and focus on feeling better."
"Nooooo, I wanna get up."
"Nooooo," she mimicked. "You're laying down and letting your body rest."
"Hmph." He attempted to cross his arms over his chest, but his left didn't move at all.
She frowned. "What the hell is wrong with your arm?"
"Well, uh, I'm not sure, but it might have something to do with the knife wound on my shoulder."
She leaned over and prodded the wound.
He jerked back. "What the fuck? That shit hurts!"
"Well, it's not numb." She prodded his arm.
"Hmm. Your arm's numb. Might be temporary, but Imma ask Zeus just in case. DO. NOT. MOVE." She gave Runner a stern look.
She gave him a 'Don't test me' look.
He groaned, lying back down.
She smiled sweetly. "Thank you." She then walked through the house and found Zeus in the personal gym, lifting weights. "Hey, so… his arm's numb. He can't move it or feel anything."
"He likely has nerve damage. Look through my bag and find the anti-inflammatories. Give them to him and help him move his arm until he can move it on his own."
Tessa let out a relieved breath. "So it's temporary." Zeus nodded. "I'm so glad you went to medical school."
Zeus smirked. "Yes, then your boyfriend would probably be dead because you flipped out and went dumb protective female mode."
Tessa snarled at him. "Shut up. And he's not my boyfriend–he's just a friend."
"Mmmmmhmmmmm. Let's go with that."
Tessa scowled and stormed back into the living room. Stupid Zeus and his stupid brains. She dug through Zeus's medical bag for the medication.
He thought about getting up for a moment, but decided against getting maimed by Tess. He settled for sitting up, rubbing his face with his free hand.
She said a little "Ah ha!" and grabbed a bottle of pills, walking over to Runner and handing it to him. "Here. This should help."
(I'm not an expert on this, so I'm just BSing this)
((It's fine
"Huh. Can't really unscrew the lid with one hand."
She popped off the lid and handed him two pills.
