Tess caught him, pulling him into the room and into the couch. Blood be damned. "Watch him," she ordered the girl, her voice hardening into her 'soldier voice.' She ran into the kitchen and started boiling water, making the process faster with her fire.
She nodded, stepping inside and shutting the door.
Runner giggled slightly, almost drunk from bloodloss. "Your….eyes are pr…pretty."
The girl smiled, but said nothing in return.
Tessa's jaw tightened but said nothing. Satisfied with the temperature of the water, she proceeded to grab a knife and stab her arm, tilting it to let her ichor dribble into the water. Come on… faster!
Runner turned to Tessa in the kitchen. "I'mma….go help," he mumbled, attempting to roll from the couch. But the girl was there, resting a hand lightly on his chest.
"No, you idiot. you're staying there." She pulled her arm back once the ratio was perfect, ignoring her bleeding wound and aggressively whisking the mixture. "I'm almost done."
"Nuh…uh…." He mumbled, attempting another futile escape.
She snaps at him in Italian, then pours he mixture into a cup. It was steaming. "Dammit. Frosty's not here to cool this down." She walked over to Runner, kneeling next to him with the mixture. "It's hot, but it will do its best to heal you."
He giggled, looking up at her. "Okay…."
She sighed and handed the glass to the girl. "You help him. Give him only a little bit at a time."
The girl held the cup gingerly. "Should we take the knife out of his shoulder?"
"No, not yet. It'll worsen the bleeding." She raked her fingers through her hair, causing some bloody streaks. "I have to make a call." She walked into the kitchen, grabbing her discarded and virtually forgotten cell phone and furiously dialing in a number. She held it up to her ear and started pacing the room.
She pulled his shirt up, wincing when it stuck to a deep stab wound. She poured a single drop of the liquid into the wound, and Runner screamed. He has let out a shout of pain before, but he'd never screamed around Tessie like this. The girl look mortified, but continued to pour in a few more drops. "Are you sure this will help?"
Tessa cringed as she heard his screams. She said something to the person on the phone and turned to the girl. "It's nectar, a watered-down version of my blood. It will ease the pain, but not much else." She went back to the person on the phone. "…I need help….not me, someone else. I-I thought since Kieran is a doctor–" She pinched her lips together as she looked to Runner. "He's a friend of mine…. Stabbed……… Thank the gods! Thank you! I love you so much! I'll see you soon!"
He arched his back for a moment and shouted again as she poured a tiny drop over his swolle eyes. She had to put a hand on her forehead to keep him from twisting away.
Tessa rushed over and helped to hold him down. "I would give him my blood if I could." She gently brushed Runner's hair, "Shhhh. It's going to be okay, Runner. Help's on the way."
"mMMhhhhhph…….!" He grunted, a single tear falling from the non-swollen eye as the girl continued to pour the liquid.
"I'm Lia, by the way" she said, pulling the cup back when she had poured enough.
"Theresa." She put pressure on the most severe wound, careful the knife didn't cut her. "What the hell was this idiot doing in the worst part of the city?" she muttered to herself, beyond terrified. I can't call the others, they don't know where I live–or that I even have a house. I guess Zeus will have to do.
"I found him a couple blocks from here."
"Dammit. Those fucking assholes don't know when to give up." She got up and paced the living room, pulling at her hair and combing through it. "Zeus better hurry. Granted, he's coming from Hawaii." She grabbed a random object–a very breakable vase–and hurtled it at the nearest wall. "Dammit!"
Runner flinched at the sound, looking over at her. Lia put the cup tot he side and began running a comforting hand through his hair.
Tessa picked up another breakable object and hurtled that at another wall.
Someone knocked on the door, and Tess put down the third thing she was going to throw and rushed towards it. She immediately pulled the person into a tight hug. The person said something, then gently guided her back into the house. The person was a very muscular, broad shouldered, stocky male with mud brown hair and light brown eyes, about 6 foot 2. The person soothed a frantic Tessa while she explained what she thought happened.
Runner probably would have tightened up at the sight of them hugging, but he was all but alseep from blood loss.
The male knelt next to Runner, examining the wounds. "Tessie, I'll need you to hold him down." His voice was deep and rumbled as he spoke. He flicked his eyes over to Lia. "Miss, I'm going to have you pull out the knife when I say so."
Tessa took up her position, bracing herself against Runner in wait for his thrashing.
She winced but stepped around to his right side, putting a light hand on the handle.
"Pull." He had supplies in his hands, ready to stitch the wound closed.
