He shrugged. "I'm fine with that."
He shrugged. "I'm fine with that."
"Won't you get tired of holding me? Plus, pretty sure poor Lydia and Ali want to leave the kitchen." Despite her words, she made no move to leave.
He shook his head, then thought for a moment. "Well, we can go walk somewhere."
"I don't particularly feel like being carried around the city. Everybody knows me."
"So you just want to stand here on my back while the twins watch."
"Say sorry and we can go on that walk."
He rolled his eyes. "Okay. Sorry."
She smiled and hopped off, fixing her shirt. "Was that so hard?"
"Yeah, very."
"Meanie." She pulled out her cash and set it on the counter. "Sorry Lydia, Ali! It won't happen again, I promise." She turned to Runner with a smile. "C'mon. I wanna show you something."
He shrugged.:"I'm guessing you won't tell me before we get there?"
"It's my ultimate favorite place in all the realms." She ducked her head, hiding her blush. "I've never showed anyone this place before. Too… private."
"Then, once again, why me? I'm not complaining, if that's what you think, I'm just confused."
She sobered up, crossing her arms. "It sounds an awful like you're complaining."
"It's just..like, there are a lot better people than me, ya know? You don't seem to be a girl who settles for less."
She raised a brow. "I'm nothing but a dirty street rat. That's about as low as you can get." She waved a hand at him. "You're a prince. So… who's settling with whom? Hypothetically, of course."
"The operative word that you chose to exclude is 'demon.'"
She shrugged. "A prince nevertheless. Not all demons are bad."
He shrugged, saying nothing else.
She gave him a flat look. Flirting with old businessmen, horny teenagers, and playboy wannabes came easily to her. Runner? She had no clue. "Do you want to go or not?"
He nodded. "Yeah, of course."
She grabbed his hand and led him out of the cafe. Then she stopped and groaned. "Right. It's either climb or fly."
"I mean, I have wings."
"Can you fly with them?"
"Haven't tried, I was too busy getting attacked by myself." Once again, his wings sprung out from the back of his shirt, sliding through pre-cut slits that he obviously made.
