After being searched, scavenged and thoroughly violated, the guards allowed Endan to return back to the party after confiscating a few throwing knifes and a few small potions. Endan not only welcomed the release, he needed it. After Carlsen had slipped away, he'd felt the pulsing of magic energy throughout the whole of the castle and was quite concerned for the fellow's well being.
'Not because I've grown attached to him,' he attempted to reason with himself. 'No, I just wish to answer his question.'
Leaving the room the guards had unceremoniously dumped him in, he returned back to the party to immediately sense a familiar energy.
Carlsen.
His aura was almost all consuming (though only because Endan was looking for it). He began tracking it to it's source, weaving his way through party-goers and serfs alike until he reached… someone. He paused for a beat and took in this seemingly stranger's features. He looked very different, but it took only a glimpse at those striking eyes to find that… yes, indeed, it was Carlsen. He opened his mouth to call out but stopped himself just short, realizing that if the fellow mage was disguised, he would more than appreciate not being revealed. Instead, Endan quietly approached him and tugged on his sleeve.
"Faltur, what on earth are you doing?" he whispered.
Carlsen was scared, he turned around and it was Endan. He sighed in relief. “Look, we’re not here for the same purpose. I’ve done what I came here to do and I’m leaving soon” Carlsen whispered to Endan. “Also…one more thing” he said in a shaking voice. He grabbed onto Endan’s shoulder, transfering a red symbol onto him. “Take the blame for me now…thanks…” He said to Endan before walking away back into the crowd, most likely heading to the exit.
(Carlsen cursed Endan with the red symbol. The symbol will change the appearance and voice of the cursed one to look exactly like a duplicate of the owner of the symbol with the cursed one knowing. In this case, everyone will see Endan as Carlsen, while he still sees himself as…himself. This effect has a time limit and can’t be reduced or negated.)
Endan blinked at Carlsen's retreating form for a moment before chasing after him through the crowd. "Now, wait just a moment old sport, I don't understan-" Endan's protests were cut short upon being tackled to the ground by nearby guards. "Ah! What in nether are you doing?!" Endan fought the guard's restraints as they tethered him to the ground, magic chains binding him. The surrounding party goers shrieked and scrambled about, rushing to get away from the commotion. "Carlsen! Carlsen, please!" Endan pleaded after Carlsen's retreating form, thrashing wildly to attempt to escape his binds. Endan heard a scream -perhaps his own- before a splitting pain to his head and a fade to black.
Not looking back or paying attention to Endan, Carlsen exited through the hallways. Dropping an envelope with a pair of swords symbol, colored gold and navy blue, similar to Carlsen’s clothing. (I’ll let either the Empress, the Old man or Endan pick this up) He did heard Endan screaming, he did feel guilty. Of course, he’s able to turn things back to what it used to be. A similar red symbol that appears on Endan’s shoulder appeared on Carlsen’s hand. He touched it and muttered the word…”Gyaku Maho”. As he finishes, he is standing in the outdoors, like he was waiting for something.
On the other hand, Endan’s red symbol disappeared. What Carlsen used was a reversal magic, changing things or people back to the way they were. Endan has now turned back to his actual body.
(Quick note, the guards aren’t magic users, and most likely wouldn’t knock him out, so I’m just going with Endan is being held onto the floor by four guards right now, still very much awake.) The Empress turned to see the commotion, and a guard spoke to her, informing her of the problem. She nodded, and shifted into her dragon form. Silver spines sprouted from her back, and her white skin turned to black scales. Her reptilian violet eyes blazed in anger, her pupil narrowing to a small slit as she morphed. Her belly was a deep purple that matched her eyes, and she spread out her wings imposingly, making the guest back away.
“What is your name, prisoner, and what were you doing in my private rooms?” she snarled, sparks and blue blood flying out of her mouth like spit as she spoke.
(I’ve just changed it, thanks for the info :P)
Endan stared up at Empress Enderstorm's daunting form, terrified. "Empress, please, I don't understand what's going on." As he spoke, Endan slowly melted back into his own body. "I was afraid for you, I thought you were cursed so of course I chased after you; I'm ever allegiant to her highness! I am a mage, I thought I could help, but I got caught and- oh, but I was re-released into the party! I am ever so sorry for causing a ruckus." He continued his terrified babble for a few more moments as he transformed into his own form: short, with styled dark hair and dark yellow eyes.
The Empress stared at him.
“You lie. If you were truly from the Three Dimensions you would know of my disease. But I do believe that someone has tricked us. Your form has changed. Do you know of any other “mages” that were here? My people do not regularly use magic.” Smoke and purple sparks were streaming from her mouth, and Foxchild had come up behind her in fox form, sniffing at Endan’s feet.
“He was definitely not in your room, your Majesty. I do not smell any blood anywhere on him.”
(Just a reminder, don’t forget the envelope Carlsen dropped in the hallways :P)
Endan stared at Foxchild as he continued. "I… no ma'am, I am not from these realms. I apologize for not making that clear sooner." He attempted to bow in apology, though the most he could manage through the chains was a slight nod. "I hail from the nation Alsteinthern. You're highly revered there as an excellent ruler. It's an honor to meet you. As for other mages, ah…" Endan hesitated. "No. None that I could tell."
Foxchild sniffs him again.
“I smell fear. You are lying,” Foxchild says, narrowing his eyes. One of the guards comes up to the Empress, holding the envelope in his pitch black hand. The dragon looked to the guests, and raised her voice as she spoke.
“The party is over. Please exit, everyone. I must investigate this intrusion immediately.” The guests began filing out slowly, guards teleporting in and making sure they left in a an orderly fashion. More servants came in, carrying a table and some chairs. One of the chairs was made of pure obsidian, and a black and purple banner of the Third Dimension, the Empress’s birthplace, was draped over it. She shifted into her human form and sat in the throne. Endan was strapped to a chair across from her, four guards standing beside him.
Sawyer and Dabria immediately ran towards the commotion. “What’s happening here?” Dabria asked the empress.
“Please leave the palace immediately. Someone was found in my private rooms, and we must investigate this situation.” A guard gently began leading Dabria and Sawyer away, nudging them toward the massive dragon-sized double doors.
Of course, Carlsen would be looking to see how things are turning out. His very dark navy blue and black scarf blends in with the night. He is currently on the highest part of the palace and standing while looking at the sky. His hand was holding another envelope with the same dual swords symbol. He saw the first group of guests coming out, he dropped the envelope before his wings come out.
Endan swallowed nervously and watched as the room emptied of guests. "Your highness…" he began, but he couldn't think of anything he could say without getting into more trouble.
Foxchild, still in fox form, jumped up on the table, sitting down by Endan so he could sniff for fear. He grimaced.
“You are absolutely terrified. Ugh.” The Empress rolled her eyes, smiling slightly at Foxchild, before composing herself and looking back at Endan.
A guard handed her the envelope, and she opened it, reading the contents. Father Wick, old man, suddenly teleported in, sitting in a seat to Enderstorm’s left.
(The Letter :
Greetings your highness,
As you are aware by now I’m one of the guests in this party. I’ve come from a kingdom faraway from this palace. Not being able to tell you who I am, is a shame for indeed. I would just like you to think about somethings…as follows…
1) Have you heard of the name “The Phantom Kingdom”
2) Are you familiar with the symbol [dual swords: gold and navy blue] on the envelope
3) Have you ever “accidentally” or “intentionally” destroy a kingdom during a fight or war…?
Yours Truly,
‘Messenger of the Dead’)
Enderstorm was very puzzled by the letter.
“Father Wick, I would like for you to take this letter and tell me what you think of it,” she said, handing the paper to the old humanoid creature that sat next to her. He nodded, and examined the letter, rereading during the ensuing trial.
“Now, tell what your name is, sir,” she said, folding her hands in her lap as she spoke to Endan.
"I am Endan Randrat, your highness. It is an honor to meet you, even under these conditions." He smiled self deprecatingly and blew a loose hair from his face.
“Your Majesty, him and another mage were trying to get to you after you were removed from the ballroom, and we searched him and found numerous weapons. Later, the other mage was found inside your room right after you had gone back down, the servants asleep from some gas or spell. He was quickly restrained, but used magic to escape. Here is one of the guards who saw him,” said one of the guards, pointing to another one who seemed to be slightly older.
“The man looked very different from the one who sits in front of us now. I believe that he may have used magic to make this poor human look like him, and escaped among the other guests when we began the trial. I have take the liberty to send some guards to scour the palace and surrounding forest for the man.” Enderstorm nodded, satisfied, and motioned for the guards to remove the chains keeping Endan in place.
“Please stay a bit longer for questioning, Sir Randrat.”
"Of course, your highness." Upon having the chains removed from wrists, Endan flexed them experimentally and set them gingerly upon his lap, where they naturally began fiddling with the golden buttons of his suit. As he awaited questioning, he watched as the guard and other castle staff buzzed through the room like a well-oiled machine.
'She seems to be just the strong leader we've been told of,' his mind whispered to him, 'and yet, she appears to be ill.'
“Do you think you could identify the other mage if you saw him?” She asked, keeping her face neutral, though inside she was still aching from the bleeding fit.
The sounds of the crows and the ravens filled the sky. Carlsen held his arm up. One of the crows and one of the ravens flew down and stood on his arm. He’d look at them, his eyes have turned crimson red. The apperance of the crow and the raven started to change… soon after, cries emerge from the forest where some of the guards were sent to, followed by corpses thrown out of forest. Carlsen watches as his new “temporary” creations are born.
The crow was turned into a humanoid knight, with full black armor, wings and is equipped with a chain sword covered in black flame. The raven was turned into a humaniod mage, with a gray uniform, wings (as well) and uses electricity as their power. They are now causing havoc in the forest.
(Idk when to jump back in)
(I can make the crow and the raven attack the crowd your characters are in, if you’d like that :P)
(Sure, whatever works, I just want to use Sawyer more)
Corpses from the forest were thrown near the crowds coming out of the palace. A lightning strike followed, nearly hitting the crowd. The knight and the mage flew down towards the crowd and started “attacking” the guests.
Sawyer's eyes widened and nudged Dabria to alert her of the attacks.
"Yeah, I seem it," She said, twin swords materializing in her hands. The princess removed her cloak and tossed it to Sawyer, then ran towards the winged humanoid, hacking at them skillfully.
As for Sawyer, they stood nearby for any sign where their magic could be of assistance.
The crow knight blocked some of her attacks, but ended up with some openings through the armor. As raven mage saw Sawyer, and quickly casted a thunder storm around them, blocking their view and electrocuting them in the process. The crow knight got some direct hits on the princess, but they are now quite exhausted and is full of openings. Regardless, the priness is now, to some degree, burned by the fire cursed on the blade.
