"Oh my, an assistant to a general. Think I could trust you enough to let you go?"
"Oh my, an assistant to a general. Think I could trust you enough to let you go?"
Milly glanced at Hinata grateful that she stood up for her.
Then a dark figure emerged from the shadows, flaring its large wings out wide and roaring at Amalis with hate and malicious intent, flesh-shredding teeth on full display. It resembled that of a small, two-legged dragon. Silver markings snaked over its black and sleek hide. Black mist spewed from its maw.
Cinthia's multicolored eyes widened, and she lunged forward to grab a strap on the barely visible harness. "Malaki!" She turned to the others, where the mist was slowly creeping. "Stay out of the mist, it'll drain your life force for as long as you're in it." Despite her words, she stood in the mist without any visible effects.
The parrot sighed, nodding.
“I mostly was running because I thought you guys would kill me, but I guess not, so yes, you can let me go.”
Tiak looked at the dragon, blood and guts still on her legs and snout. She looked at it without a trace of fear, her eyes glinting with awe.
Milly looked fearfully at the mist but didn’t move, the case was too heavy to lift but she do want to disappoint Hinata.
"Well, that's a thing." Hinata let go of Gavrin and reached for the sword on her back.
"Tatsuo, Katsuo, let's go!" The two swords on her hips glowed, then lept out of their scabbards and turned into two men. One was older, with stubble on his chin. The other was younger, with curly blonde hair. Both wielded katana.
"Katsuo, go help the fairy. Tatsuo, you're with me." The man with the blonde hair ran over to Millie and picked up the case.
"Thank you for helping us. Come, let us get you out of danger."
The parrot flapped away from Hinata, sitting on a branch close to the ground.
Milly sighed in relief and nodded, “Okay!”
The parrot watched the dragon carefully, white magic beginning to swirl around its wings. It jumped down from the branch, shifting into a tiger and growling it the dragon. If Gavrin had to guess, he would think the dragon was using dark magic, the tool of Icne.
Hinata started towards Malaki. Tatsuo followed close behind.
Cinthia turned to those advancing on Malaki, moving so she stood in their way. She summoned two double-bladed daggers. "You make one move to hurt him and I swear to the stars I will not hesitate to end you." The demon continued to growl at Amalis, leaning his body against Cinthia protectively.
Milly flew up and sat on a high branch in a tree, watching the scene below, she played with her short light brown hair, kicking her feet about.
"Fine, fine. Don't get touchy." Hinata grabbed Tatsuo arm. He turned back into a sword, and Hinata's hand was now holding the hilt. With a swift motion, she sheathed both blades. Floating lazily, she hung several feet above the fog.
"Sweetheart you couldn't kill me if you tried." Amalis shrugged nonchalantly. So many others had tried to kill him, yet they never succeeded, because they didn't know that only one person could kill him. He stared at the demon with a neutral expression. "Cute demon you got there, cool."
Katsuo began to bring the case to Hinata.
"Hold it Katsuo. Just wait for me to come to get it, okay?"
Gavrin sat and began licking his giant, furry orange paws, preferring the security of his tiger form to being a parrot, though he could no longer speak.
She snarled irritably and shoved Malaki's head, muttering something that made it whine with shame and follow her as she marched into the forest. His head was low to the ground and he repeatedly tried licking her heels to get her to forgive him.
Katsuo sat on the grass, next to Gavrin.
"Nice shape-shifting."
Gavrin nodded, happy to finally be respected, but unable to speak as a tiger.
Milly flew back and landed near Gavrin, “That’s really cool!”
Katsuo smiled. He enjoyed being in human form.
Gavrin nodded, smiling, though as a tiger it looked more like a happy snarl.
Cinthia continued deeper in the forest, heaving deep breaths of air to try to calm down. In the words of her best friend, she was in a mood. A moody mood that made her moody. She sighed and dropped to the ground, twirling her fingers in the air to mess with the fallen leaves. Malaki moped nearby, laying down and staring at her with big eyes. She ignored him.
