Pretty bold and optimistic of you to assume that Jacob's going to have a good time at this school, John.

I don't know what it feels like to come into a different school at the start of a new semester, part way through the orbit party. The only thing that I can be sure of is that it's an awk-wonky-donky situation.

The office secretary is making it difficult for Jacob to get along with her. However, it is also partly his fault, what with the passive-aggressiveness and what not. I think that it's always a good brain bubble to try to become friends with school office secretaries.

More experienced doesn't necessarily mean better, nor that they'll be liked, especially when it comes to teachers.

Principal Bailey seems friendly enough.

Is the word wrangler seriously expecting me to believe that Malini, the exotic Indian girl, doesn't have any friends other than Jacob? Yeah, no…. I'm from a small town myself, and literally everyone wanted to befriend foreign exchange students. People tend to flock to things that are new, exotic, and exciting.

The Soulkeepers Chapter 6: Dane

Great, a POV change. I usually don't mind POV changes, but I don't know about this one. Dane is one of the racist bullies. He better get a great redemption arc if he isn't the main plot troublemaker. Even if he is, there'd better be something to make me at least understand him!

Side note: I still don't understand the title of the grimoire, and that's not okay!

The chapter's opening paragraph makes it seem like Dane is cheating on his girlfriend, and I'm not sure how I feel about that.
