He continues his stride, taking her pass the bakery, down the alley and closer to Ben’s neighborhood.
If I take too long they’ll send Kiss after me.
He subconsciously picks up the pace, a bit worried he may not get back before Kissa cage for him.
Silver sighed, knowing she wasn't going to get Gabriel to open up now, or for a long while, not with Miki around and with everything else happening. And she honestly didn't have the energy to pry him apart. But it hurt her inside to know he was struggling and not be able to help. Once Silver actually thought about it, she didn't know what she was going to do with Miki in her life. Miki and Gabe were both too important to her and she needed to take care of both of them. She couldn't leave Gabe to his depressed confusion and she had to protect Miki from Ben's ire and help her settle in with them.
I wish it could all stop for just a minute. The powers, the running, the emotions. Just stop for a minute so I can truly rest.
Withing 30 minutes they had reached the nearly empty house. Tod and Sung were inside, but were sitting quietly on the couch as Violet had previously asked them to. Who knows where Dash and Hush were, but they had gone out too.
He lets go of Sil's hand once inside, and brushes some hair behind his ears.
I need to get back. I'm hungry.
Miki let out a low whistle as they stood in front of Ben's house. "Duuuuude, you been living this high and mighty this whole time?"
Silver flapped her hand at her to be quiet and peered at Gabe, brows drawn together in worry. "Gabriel, please." she whispered, begging. "What's wrong? Please talk to me."
(I'm just going to make them go into the house again XD)
Gabriel stares at the house for a moment, then walks inside, ignoring Silver. He didn't feel like talking. He never felt like talking.
I hope they never send me on a mission again.
He brushes his wing against the hallway wall on accident and a picture frame falls. He whirls around quick and catches it, putting it back up and turning around to walk away.
I hate this house.
Silver jumped when the picture fell, her heart nearly coming out of her mouth. Oh, goodness, if we break anything Ben will for sure murder us. She took a few deep breaths and followed Gabe into the rest of the house.
"You live here?" Miki hissed behind her.
Silver grinned wearily. "For the last two days, yes. This is Ben's house. Ben won't like you, but that's okay. I'll convince him you're safe. Just… don't touch anything. Seriously. Please don't touch anything."
Miki nodded, tucking her hands into her pockets and soaking in all the fineness of Ben's house.
Once out of the hallway and into the living-room, Silver's wings appear, and Gabriel completely disappears. He sits in a corner on the floor and hugs his legs against his chest, laying his face on his knees.
I want out. I want back in my cell. This is too much for me.
I don't like people.
Who do I bring back.
Aware that Silver can feel what he lets out, he keeps the emotions to himself, reminding himself that once back to his cell he can let them out.
Silver sighed as Gabe retreated. She could feel him curled up in the corner of the room, but he refused to let her help so she dropped into an empty chair, her body finally giving out from the exhausting night. "Sit down, Miki. You can look at stuff but just sit down." She pointed to another chair nearby.
Miki's attention shifted to Silver's wings and she sat down, swallowing nervously, and motioned toward Silver's wings. "So. Can you actually, like… fly? With those?"
Silver frowned for a second, not understanding what she meant. "Oh! My wings. Yeah, I can fly with them. It's pretty fun actually."
"And what did you do to me when we were out there in the park? I can running up and you jerk me down and then, like… put me in a cage? I felt the walls all around me but I couldn't get out and I couldn't hear anything but my own voice."
Silver cringed. "I'm sorry. I was so worried over Gabriel's breathing attack that I just wanted to keep you quiet so he wouldn't panic more. But I didn't want you to run away either. I didn't really pay attention to what I was doing I just… did. That. The box. I'm sorry."
Miki studied Silver for a few moments, twisting her lips to one side. "So what did happen to you? Why can you do that stuff? Can all your other friends do that too?"
Gabriel looks up, noticing the girls talking.
Shes distracted.
He stands and heads upstairs, knowing she won’t notice.
He finds himself at an open window.
I can’t… I… I have to.
He closes his eyes.
I’ll bring someone else.
Silver nodded. "Well, sort of. We're all different. Each of us have powers based on an element. I'm air, Gabe is air. Hush is air, too. Ben is fire. Oh my word, his fire is so cool. Violet is… um. Earth. I think. Dash is mental. Which is earth too, I think."
Miki's eyebrows flew up. "You're elementals??? Legit actual elemental superhero power people?? DUDE, that is cool!"
Gabriel takes a breath, then launches out of the window, flying fast and far.
She’ll be fine.
But to meet him in the Sky was an unfriendly face, and in her hands she held cuffs.
“You took too long.” She states quietly.
He nods.
I know.
(He’s too far from the window to see)
Silver stared at Miki, having never thought that their powers might be cool to a normal person. She always expected people would be afraid, and she had even feared Miki would be afraid of her.
"You… you think we're cool?" she asked.
"Yeah! Oh, my goodness, this whole time I thought you were tortured or killed or something. I mean, of course it was bad, hun, I don't mean to say it wasn't. But you got all this power and that's really pretty awesome, babe."
Silver opened her mouth to speak but as she did, she realized she couldn't feel Gabe anymore.
Gabe was gone.
He'd finally left.
No.
The door creaks open and Ben walks in. He stops in the living room door way and stares at Miki.
“Silver, what did you do?” He quietly asks, obviously trying to contain his irritation.
Violet walks up behind him, holding her purse and shoving her keys into it.
“What do you me- ooh.” She catches sight of Miki and Silver and creases her eyebrows together.
Ben raises a hand, gesturing to Miki and looking to Violet.
“There is a fiLTHY REDHEAD ON MY COUCH!”
Silver sniffed, holding back her tears over Gabe's leaving and jumped up, slowly approaching Ben. "I'm sorry. Yes, I brought someone else back. But she's my sister, Ben! She found me while we were out in the city. I couldn't leave her again. And she's safe, I promise. And… and–" her voice started to shake. "And Gabe's gone so that should make you happy."
Ben furrows his brow.
“I- I mean it kinda does, but I have a feeling you’re not happy over that.” He sets his bag down and takes her hands.
“Hey, Hey. It’s fine. If he left, he probably has a nice place to go. Don’t worry.”
Violet flinches at his honesty, but walks past him and into the kitchen, picking his bag up on the way. She smiles at Miki over her shoulder.
“Do you like biscuits?”
Miki leaped off the couch like it burned her and edged away from Ben, backing into the kitchen with Violet. "I mean, if the couch is off limits I don't have to sit on it?" She half whispered to Violet. "Silver told me to sit still and not touch anything so I didn't. I don't want to intrude on any of y'all but I didn't want to leave Silver and she said she had friends so… Hi? I'm Miki. Biscuits would be lovely, dear, but don't stress yourself over me. I'll be fine."
Silver nodded, trying to keep it together and failing. She flung her arms around his neck and sobbed into his shoulder. "I tried to keep him but he wouldn't talk to me and he was so upset about Miki but he wouldn't tell me why and I slapped Miki and I didn't mean to and I felt so bad and I trapped her in a box and Gabe couldn't breathe and I knew you would be mad at me bringing her back here but I couldn't leave her and I told her not to touch anything and–and–I'm sorry, Be-e-e-e-e-en!" She wailed
He winces at her wailing, a little irritated, and awkwardly pats her back, leaning a bit forward so she could wrap her arms around his neck.
"It's- Um, it's fine, Sil. I'll be angry about the- the, uh- Красная голова?"
He looks to Violet and she casually says "redhead" over her shoulder without turning.
He squints, "right. We'll talk about the redhead later. And don't worry about Gabriel. It's not your fault he's gone, right?" He pauses for a moment. "Wait, why couldn't he breathe?"
Silver released him from her death grip and gasped for breath, slowly regaining control but still hiccuping with random sobs. "He tried to take me away from Miki because he was scared and he had an attack. Like, he was just laying there trying to breathe and I had to make the air go in and out of his lungs for him and help him calm down. He was really upset."
Violet looks over to Miki, her hands still up in the cabinets while she stand on her tippie toes. A smirk was across her fair face; she wasn't used to being called dear and it was quite amusing.
"You may sit where ever you like, Love. Ben just didn't expect you to be here. Are you an elemental?"
She pulls a coffee mug out of the cabinet and turn on the coffee, then takes a few biscuits from the bread drawer, handing them to Miki.
Miki eased into a bar stool and accepted the biscuits. "Thank you. I can't do anything about my hair though? Does he honestly just hate redheads? Cuz that's actually kind of hilarious. No, I'm not like you guys. I've been searching for Silver for the last five years, since the day she was taken. She was just telling me about y'all's powers before you came in and they sound really awesome, honestly. I mean, Silver has wings for goodness sake. That's pretty cool. Which one are you?"
Ben raises an eyebrow.
"Does he have asthma or something?"
He turns his attention towards the coffee pot in the kitchen, then looks back to Silver.
"Wait, why were you out of the house?? Where is everyone?!"
Violet pours coffee into a mug and begins to stir in creamers.
"He does hate reds. He's had a bad experience with them, sorry." She stops stirring at the mentioning of their powers being 'cool' and looks up to Miki.
"I'm sorry, Love, how old are you?"
(oooh)(She'll get snappy.)(Watch it, Miki)
Silver frowned. "Yeah, I guess he might. That makes sense. He's a really good flyer but he couldn't keep me in the air when I started to fall. We were supposed to go out in teams? So we went out. Gabe and me, and Hush and Dash. I don't know where they went."
Miki paused her biscuit eating and raised her eyebrows, confused by the turn of conversation. "…twenty?"
Ben's eyes widen and he look to the ceiling as he lets out a huff and proceeds to pull his hair.
"Это не то, что я имею в виду!" He mumbles.
He looks back down to Sil.
"Ah, nice. Definitely what I meant. 'Everyone go get lost on the streets'. Yes. That's what I said. I remember now." He angrily smiles and looks to the window in frustration.
Violet smiles. "Hmm, that's nice, darling."
She turns around, squeezing her lips together and finishing Ben's coffee.
So our powers are cool now? Hmm. I'd expect as much from a teenager, but an adult? Seriously?
Silver sighed and dropped into a chair. "I'm sorry, Ben. We thought Violet wanted us to go find stuff out and then you two left and we didn't know what to do. We were just trying to do something instead of sitting around here getting mad at each other."
Miki glanced over at Silver, but she was still talking to the guy she assumed was Ben. She cringed inwardly and turned back to Violet. "Hey, I really don't want to be a bother to y'all. I understand that I'm different. If you're Silver's friends then I want you to be my friends but I don't want to make this harder on any of y'all."
