History:

Originally, the majority of Voilia was inhabited by small tribes of a race called Ahlya, while the rest of humanity lived in other places of Earth. Shortly after, Earth went into a deep sleep for an unknown reason.

There was peace for some time, but that was interrupted when a neighboring nation, Volo, attempted to colonize the crater and slotter the Ahlyans.

Many desired to live in the crater since that was the last place Earth blessed. It was full of life and resources, and many desired to have it.

Although Ahlyans were a strong race of humans, they were also incredibly small. Because of this, Volons won after a war of 5 years. This event was called the Harraku War, which would be celebrated for many years.

Origin:

In the beginning, Earth created all types of creatures, each one more beautiful and stronger than the last.

However, Earth wasn't satisfied.

It didn't want the creatures to mindlessly follow every instruction, how boring would that be?

Every failed experiment, Earth brought them to a specific region and killed the species. Eventually, little by little this created a huge crater in the crust of Earth.

This process went on for many millennia until Earth finally created a creature that satisfied it to the fullest. Humans.

Earth treasured man-kind and turned the once uninhabited crater of death into a place full of life. This will later be known as Voilia.

Magic System:

Although more commonly referred to as magic, divine beings created by The Goddess of Life refer to it as its original name, Kilotai.

It is an ancient art that can be practiced by anyone which allows the power to bend each aspect of Earth to one's will, each having its own requirements and energy cost. It is considered a high honor to practice Kilotai and a lifetime commitment.

Because of the amount of time Kilotai takes to master, many humans don't practice it since they die before they can scratch the surface.

The Goddess of Life has mastered every variant and version of Kilotai, however, this caused a strain in what she could manage to rule over. Because of this, she created Gods and Goddesses, each of which chose a Kilotai to master and Rule over.

Due to their immortality, Gods are the only known species to truly master the art.

Technology:

Voilia is considered the most advanced civilization in the world, considering it was built on the most resource-rich part of the planet.

Many desire to be in Voila since it is considered a land of opportunity but immigration is frowned upon and rarely happens.

Because of this, all technological ideas and advancements happen within a small circle, the majority of which come from taking advantage of the magical creatures.

Voilia has what is considered medieval technologies but with slight advancements in magical affairs.

Humans:

Upon deities, humans are seen as perfect creatures who are too stupid to know right from wrong.

Earth left this world with the intention to treat her most perfect possession as gold, which is why The Goddess of Life and all her creations work to serve humans.

Among humans, there are two major races, Ahlyans, and Volons. Although Ahlyans were wiped out by the Volon colonizers (as seen in "History") some remained and hid in the shadows of Voilia.

Although illegal to kill Ahlyans, Volons still proceed with extreme racism towards the small group, which causes Ahlyans to live in smaller areas away from large cities.

Among magical creatures, what is considered a race is determined by a test based on how civilized and intelligent one is. Even if a race of magical creatures were to pass the test with flying colors, they are still seen as only half of what a Volon is.

The only exception to this rule is Angels and Demons, who almost never interact with Humanity and are considered divine beings or good and evil.

Nymphs:

Beautiful creatures formed from the elements. They start off as Sprites (seen in "Creatures") but if blessed by Kilotai, can turn into Nymphs who guard the element it was created after.

Nymphs typically live 350 years, however, a God can extend its lifespan using other sprites.

Because of their lifetime, nymphs can grasp a decent range of magic.

The most common type of nymph is Dessert Nymphs, who are ruled by the Goddess of the Sad, Jamila, in the Ahbadi Dessert.

Angels:

Angels are divine creatures that can either be created by The Goddess of Life or be brought from Hollie (see in "Regions") if deemed pure enough. They serve jobs in Hillius and are given classes.

These classes are assigned through the overseer of Hillius, Cathal, God of Ether. His power granted to him by The Goddess of Life along with his magic grants him the ability to assign roles to Angels impartially no matter his opinion.

Each class has its own animal which represents them. Humans often use these animals as signs of holiness and divinity.

Unlike Gods, angels have a lot more freedom, including their fertility.

There are seven Classes of Angels:

Alma Angels: The majority of angels who come from Hollie become this rank. Offensively nicknamed "servant angels", these groups work with more common jobs that keep Hillius running.

Animal: Donkey

Deus Angels: This class can only be angels are created by The Goddess of Life. They consider themselves better than Alma Angels in many aspects since they are closer to The Goddess of Life, and serve in her castle. They also work very closely with The Goddess of Time, Eilore, in delivering messages.

Animal: Peacock

Koi Angels: Shortened for the Japanese saying Koi No Yokan, these angels bless marriages and children. They guide humanity for only short spurts of human life, with the aim of love. They are also a big part of Hailohs Day (see in "Celebrations") since they bless childbirth as well.

Animal: Lady Bug

Meraki Angels: These angels work closely with Demons (as seen in "Races") to guide souls to their passion or purpose. Many pray to them and Tygios, The God of Honor, during times of loss with nowhere to turn to. They are highly respected and described as strong creatures.

Animal: Horse

Mentanoi Angel: This is a very rare type of angel, whom a lot like Meraki Angels, lead humans to their destiny. However, Mentanoi Angels do not just stay there for a short period of time, they are assigned to special souls who would make a difference in the world and guide them from birth to death.

Animal: Lion

Arch Angels: Considered the highest-ranking angels that can only be assigned by The Goddess of Life herself. Only two in existence have been assigned this role, Hailoh, The First Angel, and Cathal, God of Ether.

Animal: Torito Bird (as seen in "Creatures")

Hygge Angels: Often referred to as the kindest angels to ever live, they often work with Mentanoi Angels and lead recently deceased souls to Hollie. Their purpose is to provide comfort for the fallen but that is misinterpreted and were given nicknames such as "Angel of Death".

Animal: Butterfly

Angels are immortal, and cannot die unless by another divine being.

Demons:

All demons come were created from The Demon King, Ruiku, and their sole purpose is to guide humans to a happy life.

However, Ruiku can only create creatures with devil-ish features that make them scary to most humans. As a result, humans resent and often attack demons who merely try to help.

Demons often stay in their homeland of Hollie to avoid scaring humans and instead help to make the deceased souls of living things as comfortable as possible in Hollie.

The few that do still pressure their purpose of guiding humans hide as much as possible to do so, often giving the credit to the angels.

Despite the hatefulness, demons still manage to live an overall happy life under the rule of their gracious king and the new Prince of Hollie.

Unlike Gods, angels have a lot more freedom, including their fertility. Demons are immortal, and cannot die unless by another divine being.

Gods:

The Goddess of Life is technically the only true god. Her power came from the Earth directly, one of those being the gift of life.

After that, Earth went into a deep slumber and left itself in The Goddesses care. In order to properly take care of Earth, she created many Gods, Goddesses, Demons, Nymphs, and Angels, each with their own element to rule.

She rules over all the gods, allowing them to live freely under rules which she considers minor:

  • None can fall in love without the Goddess’ permission

  • All will remain infertile unless with the Goddess' permission

    • One can only reside in Hillius or Hollie, none may reside in Earth except when working

    • None may harm a human

Due to a pattern of events, Goddess later added a 5th rule:

-If one shall desire something or seeks forgiveness, one will only get one chance to ask of it. Otherwise, terminated.

Merfolk:

A species that lives typically 200 years, which allows them to practice small amounts of Kilotai. They inhabited Lake Gracious for thousands of years, and even after the introduction of humans, remained in the lake although never surfacing.

When humans started to build Kilotai Castle on top of Lake Gracious, merfolk urged humans to stop the construction. Many humans began to disrespect the lake and pollute it. For a short period of time, humans even began to steal merchildren and sell them as pets in fish tanks.

To protect the home merpeople lived in centuries before humans, the merwoman sang songs of lust to lure humans toward the lake, where then the men were ambushed.

When hundreds of men began to go missing, humans stopped construction for a short period of time. Not willing to make peace, humans painted merfolk as disgusting monsters, creating the offensive term sirens.

The bloodshed became even worse, merfolk tales, scales, gills, and eyes became highly valuable in trade and the military would pay 50 killian for every merperson killed. This event was referred to as Merhunting Season.

To protect their dwindling numbers, merpeople retreated back to the lake where they slowly died due to the pollution. Goddess of the Sea, Veinami, pitied the species, and although only supposed to help humans, created an underground stream of fresh water to let the remaining merfolk escape somewhere deep in Kukureta Forest.

Now, they are a rare occurrence, but it is said some migrated back to Lake Gracious and rebuilt their stolen home.

Giants:

Not many giants exist due to the overhunting of them. Humans portray giants a stupid and democidal when in reality they are quite shy.

Gaint females grow much taller than giant males and lead the nomadic tribes through the mountains. They are often led by an elder woman who can show the young mothers and children the best places to forage for goats and fruits.

Giants lifespan typically lasts 70 years, but they typically do not live this long due to hunting and dangers of their habitat.

Giant males typically don't stay with the tribe unless they are ill or old. During the day they leave to scavenge places that are suited for the rest of the tribe to move to. This is crucial because due to giant size, takes up many more resources than an area has.

In order to preserve the land, giant males go back to the tribe and show the elder female what they have found. If the elder finds it suitable, the tribe moved there for the next two days before moving again.

It is also the job of giant males to stay up at night and create a perimeter around the rest of the tribe to protect them from intruders. Because of this, while looking for locations, giant males can often be seen taking short naps throughout the day, camouflaging themselves in foliage. They never have to worry about food or water, since it is the giant female's job to provide for their protectors.

Giants rather run away than pursue in battle, since although thirty times stronger than a normal human, they believe killing something they won't use completely is a waste. And, thankfully for man-kind, to giants we taste absolutely disgusting.

Harpies:

Often called demons, this race is extremely aggressive and territorial. They live in the high mountains, majority of which on Pravesh Mountain where their Grand Nest is.

Harpies are only female, so the way they reproduce is unique. Harpies scavenge for deceased corpses to feed off of. When doing so, they take the soul out of the creature and and reincarnate it into an egg. These eggs are about the size of a basketball and the shell is stronger than stone.

Harpies typically only live 50 years, but due to how easily they reproduce, there is no shortage of them. Harpies rarely scavenge because one corpse can last then a decade, so if they hunt often it's to reproduce.

They often have direct confrontation with Hygge Angels (see in Races), since they take the souls instead of allowing the angels to deliver them to Hollie. The soul can never be saved once taken by the Harpy, so Hygge Angels take it very seriously to fight them off.

Fae:

Fae are often described as beautiful creatures that work with nature. They often get confused with Nymphs but their are some key differences.

The obvious one are Fae have wings, the size and color of which depends on the type and the hierarchy. All types of fairies share on "ruler" whom lives in Kukureta Rainforest.

Fae do not have as many variants as Nymphs, Fae can only Plants, Earth, Rain, Snow, and Sun categories. Each one has semi-mastery of Kilotai (since their lifespan is 350 years) however much like demons, angels, and gods, they were given gifts by Earth of Healing and elements, thus what determines their type.

Fae determine their type by a ceremony three times a year where they pray to The Elder Tree, which they believe protects and gives life to the whole forest.

Shapeshifters:

Shapeshifters is a broad term used to describe a large group of people. This race hid in their animal form for many millennia, only recently showing their human side when they saw how convenient civilization was.

A shapeshifter is determined by 2 factors. One is that your brain has to be split in two halves, your dominant half being human, and your other half being animal.

The second is that you only have one animal counterpart, and said counterpart cannot be a magical creature or race.

If these rules do not apply, it is more likely the person uses a form of Kilotai to shape shift.

It is stereotypical for shapeshifters to be werewolves however shapeshifters animal counterparts can be any animal that abides the second rule.

Humans often pressure shapeshifters to supress their animal counterparts to become more human, however supressing can be one of two results:

The brain malfunctions and causes the shapeshifter to die.

The animal counterpart faces panic and takes control of the body (but doesn't transform) holding the human counterpart on lock down.

Thus is why shapeshifters have to shift at least once a month, creating the legend that werewolves only turn once a full moon.

Liskolian:

More commonly referred to as "lizard-men", Liskolians can be found in wetlands and swamps.

They are gentle creatures with a pescatarian diet and expert swimmers. They hunt in teams of three, taking down large fish to share with the rest of the tribe. Tribes are typically 10-30 Liskolians and all work together to keep each other healthy and alive. Liskolians live about 250 years but some have been known to live longer.

Liskolians are often called demons for there alligator-like features and were at one point hunted due to being confused with merpeople. Liskolians tend to stay away from humans, however if a human gets too close to their den they will attack without hesitation.

Other than certain shapeshifters, Liskolians have been known to be the most extraordinarily serious about mates. They mate for life and will wait many years for the perfect one for them.

In Liskolian culture there is a saying about mates, "To have a mate is to have a purpose, that purpose is to make the path for them to walk."

Centaurs:

Nomatic creatures that travel in heard throughout the fields. Their heard can be up to 200 and they almost never leave.

Together they hunt small boars and eat fruits, sleep, and graze in the fields.

Centaurs are geographically skilled and have an amazing sense of danger.

They usually stick to their own kind and dont interact with humans much since humans like to steal foals and place them in the black market as foal.

Centaurs are extremely strong, one good kick can break necks. The can run up to 45 miles per hour, which is a little less than a normal horse but they are quite top heavy.

Centaurs have two hearts, 2 stomachs, and two reproductive organs which allows for twins to be more common.

If one of their two organs were to fail, the centaur would die do to the unbalance in the combined bodies.

Traditionally, if a centaur if pregnant the primary baby will be born on the lower uterus, and the secondary baby will be born on the upper uterus.

The secondary foal will be born weaker and smaller then the primary, which causes majority of secondary babies to be singles out. If a centaur had to choose between protecting the primary or secondary, they would always choose the primary.

Rarely does a secondary foal survive past the age of 5.

Pixies:

Pixies are tiny creatures that are beneficial for the ecosystem. They are known tricksters, and some may even refer to them as pests.

Pixies are small creatures that live for merely two weeks. They live in nests usually near an abundance of water and plants, which they feed off of. Their nests are made of magical emitting elements from other creatures, most commonly being unicorn hair, liskolian teeth, liskolian scales, and centaur hair.

The magic emitted from these elements causes the pixies to glow bright colors, which attracts their main pray, bugs.

Centaurs, liskolians, and unicorns have a positive relationship which allows them to feed off bugs on their skin and take materials from them in exchange of getting rid of any harmful parasites.
