The Tempest Combat Academy was originally founded to train demons created by the gods so that they could learn how to best protect and serve their respective deities. It originally existed separate from the city of Tempest, but was forced to move when the Farale Desert began to encroach upon it. The new school was established just north of the city, and at that time also opened up to anyone who wished to apply.

Non demon applicants have a graduation rate under 10% which truly proves that the school is not easy, and to top it off no human has ever made it to graduation. Most end up dropping out for one reason or another, but there are a few deaths every year as well since the demons tend to ostracize other applicants and find any ways they can to get away with hurting or killing non demon applicants and instructors often look the other way if it won't get them in too much trouble.

For those that do graduate they are given a badge that indicates the level at which they graduated as well as other statuses as follows;

Bronze Star graduates are the lowest of the low and often become sellswords, though they are treated and paid better than those without badges.

Silver Star graduates become city guards, making them quite a force to be reckoned with for good reason.

Gold Star graduates are the top ten of each graduating class per year and become personal royal guards to their respective deities. They are the most experienced and the most dangerous and should be messed with only under the most extreme of circumstances.

Badges with feathered wings on top of the standard symbol indicate the person is a griffin, bat-like wings indicate the person is a dragon.
