Spot's Awakening
Spot was at a low point when the Soul Guardians arrived on the scene. He and the other members of the Brigade had been trying to make a name for themselves, but none of them were powerful enough yet to do the toughest jobs. To Spot, the Soul Guardians only proved this.
He had recently awoken to his Light Magic, but couldn't yet control it well enough to last in a proper fight. This led to many injuries, both for himself and hapless civilians caught in the crossfire, and he frequently needed to be saved by members of the Hallowed Gladiator Organization. For better or for worse, Spot never turned to his own teammates for help against the Soul Guardians; he didn't want to expose them to such danger, and maybe a small part of him wanted the glory all to himself.
In fact, he was so desperate to prove himself that he went to the Soul Guardians themselves for help instead. He needed to learn to control his magic, and if his foes were trying to take The Creator's, surely they were the foremost experts on harnessing the strongest of abilities. Plus, maybe if they worked together, he could convince them to stop terrorizing the humans. But in order to prove his loyalty to them, the Soul Guardian Council ordered Spot to destroy the Brigade HQ.
He didn't need to hurt anyone, and surely they could rebuild. Yet when Spot went to carry out his "mission," he was confronted by Angel. She demanded answers -- why was Spot running off on his own? Why wouldn't he let any of his friends help? And most importantly, what was he doing there with such an angry look in his eyes?
The stress was too much for Spot, and in that moment, he awoke to his Release Form. And, by extension, his status as a Chosen One.
Though Spot's Release Form is powerful and vicious, it wasn't Angel that originally caused his rage -- it was both the Soul Guardians, and his disappointment in himself. And so, Spot managed to control himself long enough to avoid causing any damage or hurting anyone, and he fled into the forest.
This incident pushed Spot to seek an outside source of help. Eventually, he came across Chikara, who taught him about his role as a Chosen One and taught him to control his powers somewhat. Though the Brigade is stable today, save for the continued disappearance of Angel, Chikara continues to mentor Spot and teach him to be a better fighter.
