The Rito lay eggs with tough calcium shells of different colors and patterns that are used to indicate gender and can also be used to tell the fortune of the child.
For women, the more pastel and voluminous her plumage, the more beautiful she is considered to be. For men, large beaks are attractive, as well as flight speed.
Contrary to popular belief, the Rito do not have cloaca like birds. Instead, they have penises and vaginas like their more mammalian brethren, even though they do actually lay eggs.
The penis is the only external part of a Rito that is not covered in feathers, and unlike the Hylians, they leave the foreskin. Also, the Rito penis partially retracts into the body when not in use so as not to disrupt flight optimization. It is much more difficult to fly when the penis is fully erect.
Although not as large as their Zora cousins, the Rito vagina also has a ring of internal clitoral-like bumps in the birth canal. Unlike the Zora, the egg is fertilized internally.
