Mystic's Curse

This curse does not affect many, but when an individual is afflicted it is nearly impossible to hide. No sentient race is immune from the curse, it has been documented in everything from humans to aasimar and tieflings to dwarves.

Typically the curse strikes when the individual reaches their teens, if not earlier in life. It starts with prophetic dreams; usually the mystic either tells an adult or simply experiences it for themselves, and on the next full moon a transformation overtakes them. The mystic then becomes a beast, attacking everyone around them until sunrise.

When the transformation strikes most mystics don't make it, as they are killed to defend the people around them. If they do somehow survive whatever communities they were living in are quick to throw them out so that they do not become a threat.

In ages past these individuals were left with very little choice, often becoming feral or nomadic, keeping an eye on the lunar cycle so that they could be either in the perfect place for revenge or to stay hidden depending on what they wanted to do. More recently, however, The Sovereign Galen has been quick to grab up any mystics it catches wind of. No one is quite sure why, but it goes after anyone who has prophetic dreams and has saved a few from having their first rampage completely uncontrolled by keeping them safe in Tavnoin.
