There are many worlds out there, and they contain many things. The Mystic's Curse can affect just about all of them in some way or another.

Usi doesn't talk much about their past, just that their people took their prophetic dreams as a sign they were cursed and would kill them if they knew. They fled to The Sovereign Galen to seek asylum, and the entity gladly took the stranger in.

When Zaela and her adventuring party freed the mystics from their curse Usi stayed with the group, and when she became Sovereign they were one of those who stayed to serve with her. They still don't talk much about their past, just happy to have safety in their position.
