The Archmage, Merlyn, is much older than he appears and only half human. He hides it well, but sometimes a flare of his temper hints at his half demonic parentage. His passion and compassion for mankind are tempered with a deep, lingering sorrow for his own lost soul. He has begun exploring the old traditions in search of ways to combat his heritage. In recent years he has become close friends with Arthur and it is said that Merlyn delivered Arthur from the wreckage of Uther's destruction and brought him to the Robbetts to foster.
