edit 6/2022: maple does not know her parentage (nor does she necessarily have any) - she was raised by woodland creatures, nurtured by her tree, and didn't speak any human language until she was a teenager (late-19th c) and discovered by friendly (humans, mages, idk). maple from maple tree, sur/name given to her by these people. picked the name jane after reading pride and prejudice when she was almost 20
