Strix is a master in stealth. His shape shifting ability gives him the power of flight...an owl's wings are said to be the quietest around. This brings his stealth up by a long shot, and catches many smaller animals this way. In his normal form, he is very light footed and can follow prey for quite a long time without being spotted.
Since his life depends on it, he is a master hunter. He handles any kind of weapon well but prefers those that make very little noise, such as a bow, crossbow, or melee weapon (like combat knives or pole shafts).
He is skilled in hand to hand combat, and can hold up on a fight for a long time. In his owl form, he keeps his talons sharp and his wits even sharper.
Since he's done it his whole life, he can skin an animal very quickly and prepare it for a meal.
His peculiar eyesight helps him see in the dark, must be the nocturnal blessings!

Strix comes from a tribe no one knows even exists: The Faol Tribe, a familial group of those dedicated to nature and the preservation of it. They live in seclusion in deep green forests, migrating in between specific phases of the moon. Although they could be considered "normal" or "mundane" they have knowledge that far surpasses the regular people. Absorbing the power of the sun and moon can help them travel long distances within minutes. They are raised as hunter gatherers; living off the land. They dress like normal folk, in order to hide among the regular people. They are a peaceful people, and never mean any harm. Although they believe in many "spirits", the spirits are led by The Great Eagle, the one considered to watch over all of their spiritual children and followers. The Great Eagle is depicted as a soaring eagle, one that fills the entire sky.
Those who hunt and fight under The Great Eagle are put into three classes: Raven Knights, Owl Knights, and Falcon Knights. Depending on the shape shifting gift they receive, they are put into their dedicated order. Raven Knights fight best in the dark, Owl Knights fight best in silence, and Falcon Knights fight best in the front lines. Since the tribe never truly have to fight anything besides a dangerous cryptid, the Orders are kept as a cosmetic.
Strix was born to Harrison and Pellimore, two dedicated members of the tribe. His father was an outsider of the tribe, living the "normal" suburban life, while his mother was an Owl Knight. The two met during a tribe migration to the city, and Harrison fell deeply in love with her. Living a life he wasn't happy with, Pellimore convinced him to join her where he can start anew in a clean, safe environment. He agreed and went back with her, being welcomed into open arms by her family. They were together for six years before their son was born.
However, Strix never remembered his parents. Not long after Strix's birth, the tribe suddenly vanished one night. Almost into thin air. A baby Strix was left alone, starving and crying within the tents. Eventually, a Wolven (cryptid that turns into a wolf in the day, human at night) found him and brought him back to their pack to raise until he could fend for himself. They were kind and loved him like a son, and would constantly travel back to the tribe's old site to try and find his missing parents, but to never any avail.
In the "real" world, no one knew him. No certificates, no papers, nothing. Strix didn't exist.
Strix turned ten and decided he no longer wanted to be a burden and left the Wolven, leaving with the proper knowledge on how to take care of himself in the wilderness. He soon learned of the outside world and travelled into a city, fascinated but a bit scared at what he was seeing. He'd never seen cars, buildings, even streets before. He knew he had to get accumulated to this lifestyle; he was human after all.
After returning from his first trip to the city he returned to his home forest, coming across an abandoned cabin covered in vines. He decided he would live here; a proper pond for fishing in the back, a big game site nearby, and a perfect look at the sky from the clearing. After a few trips back and forth to the city, he made a new home. He even managed to sneak some electricity into the house.
One day he returned to the Wolvens, asking what exactly happened to his true family. They brought him back to the old site, still undiscovered by others. He searched for clues, finding journals belonging to his father and mother. They wrote so much about how happy they were to now have their own son, but Strix now began to realize in their writings something was up. His mother would write about "a constant darkness has been smiling down on us through signs as of late, and I fear the worst for us". She also seemed to write about how a spirit called "The Night Bane" had been hating how much they had been ignored by the people as of late. Thanks to more research Strix found, The Night Bane would one day shroud the tribe in darkness and imprison them for eternity within their dark realm. Although never knowing them, Strix knew his parents would never lie. But why were they all imprisoned except for him? It made no sense, not even the Night Bane would leave a lone survivor. That's when he learned from the journals: "The Great Eagle's blessed Feather will protect our child from the Night Bane, and one day...if he receives The Great One's blessing, he can save us all". Strix always wondered what the necklace he wore symbolized. Now he knew: He had to find the Great Eagle, and bring his family back.
For the time being, Strix hunts down cryptids who are known to have had hatred for the tribe, as well as those who wished to inflict harm upon others. He often travels to other forests and even deserts to find them. To prevent that, Strix has gained new weaponry and combat skills, and has learned to maintain himself while in an Owl form. The newfound Owl Knight still lives deep in the woods undisturbed, but will venture out into the big world now and then. Not many remember him however, for he is very quiet.
He isn't fond on the idea of trapping an animal of his own, preferring them to live in freedom and let them come as they go. However, one friendly little fox that visits him constantly, he has nicknamed "Red"
-"Strix" is actually the latin genus grouping of wood owls
-The owl species he transforms into is the Eurasian Eagle Owl (https://binged.it/2KCYvGm), considered the largest of its kind
-He keeps up with his faith, learning from writings left by the tribe
-He is interested in "real world" fashion, and likes to dress cooly
-He is more of a watcher and listener than a talker
-He can see in the dark
-He is absolutely fascinated by Ave and Ashby, not thinking of them as demons (since he never of such things) but as stronger spirits who have been wronged
