Background - What is Turquoise Sunga’s background?

Turquoise doesn't know who their real parents are, and likely never will. All they know is that they were raised by a pack of wild wolves who took them in as one of their own when they found the infant abandoned at the edge of the forest. Turquoise looked human, yes, but also had marks that they were also something else and so the pack decided to take them in.

So it was that the small dog mix was raised by the wolves, and the mixed blood in their veins allowed them to understand and speak with the pack. But as they grew even they realized something was a little off since they were not covered in fur like those around them, and their legs weren't all the same length which made being on all fours very uncomfortable. Turquoise learned to walk upright as a necessity, and eventually realized they could use their front paws differently from the other wolves. They were not the same as the pack, but the family still accepted them and never treated them as if they were anything other than just another wolf in the pack.

They knew nothing of the Chosen Ones, the prophecy, the mark on their knee or life outside of living from one day to the next and hunting for their food next to the pack members. Life was simplistic, and they were happy with that. Then they grew too old to stay in the pack and were kicked out as with the rules of pack life. They were expected to find an alpha female, mate with her, and start a new pack. Only Turquoise wasn't equipped to fight with other wolves for dominance, they were only six years old at the time.

Lonely, lost and starving because they could not bring down food on their own Turquoise eventually ran across a group of centaurs that were hunting in the forest. They tailed them as best they could and when they brought down some members of the deer herd they were hunting Turquoise picked off a straggler and made a meal out of it for themself. Their actions did not go unnoticed by the centaurs, however, and they were quick to investigate what they assumed was a human child all on their own in the wilds. After coaxing the story out of them with the help of general animal translation skills the group decided to take them back to Khelgard and turn them over to one of their own, a woman named Serena who ran a flower shop in the city. She had a daughter about Turquoise's age, and the centaurs figured she could help bring the wolf child into society and raise them to be less feral.

The child was given the name Turquoise by Serena since she said the matted strands reminded her of the gemstone, and seemed to get along rather well with her daughter Ruby. Not understanding at the time what the spark they felt on sight meant, they acted like a brother and sister and got along great. As they grew older it became apparent that Turquoise's time with the wolves had damaged their personality and behaviors so deeply that they would probably never be able to integrate into normal society. So Serena got them a job at the nearby animal care center while Ruby began to learn how to grow and sell flowers under the care of her mother. Being apart during the days was hard on the pair, but in time they managed and only became closer, spending every spare moment together and falling asleep in the same bed at night.

However in due time word of the Chosen Ones reached Serena and she knew it was best the pair split up. Soul Mates were so easy to use against one another, if one was captured and the other knew that was as good as an easy kill for those that sought to keep the prophecy from coming to its end. Ruby had a stable life in Jaderose and it was best she stay, so Turquoise agreed to leave for Silvermoor since he could get a recommendation from the shelter he was working at to find employment with one over there. It's not the ideal situation, but it's for the best for now.
